What Beatles can teach us
note: stereo effects can be addictive! It’s important that your mix still sounds alright even in mono!
Be careful with stereo spreaders and go ham.
this is really a concept which deserves more than a 80 sec video to be honest so be sure to look it up.

Great video to watch on my computer with a broken left speaker
Great video to watch on my phfone
You're right.
Same
That's good, it's panned for u
It's ok to watch on phone... You just need to hold it landscape and extremely close to your face 👀
Your channel is sacred
True
We have to protect his channel if people don't like his channel, which will never happen
I didn’t think that I would ever say that about a TH-cam channel. But I've been hanging out here for a week or two and yeah, that seems to be the case.
*entertaining as hell, it's genius.*
So true
Love the deadPAN humor in your videos
Roomie that joke hit me dead *center*
this cracks me *up*
sorry to let you *down* with the *misaligned* jokes
okay this isn't funny i'm gonna stop
huhuuuuuuu
no way
@@montageofchips "misaligned" i swear your humor must be the result of someone getting hit with a *_pan_* and trying to make a dad joke

the most productive 1:20 minutes of my entire year.
could be more punny if you put "my entire ear" XD
@@aqoerama Damn right.
Never have i thought that my favourite channel is going to be a song production tutorial channel.
Fr, most original thing I've seen on TH-cam in a while
Well it is, there's no problem with that
lol hi daewe
@@xplode09 lol hi explosion
He is really dang good at music making and just putting you into that vibe even if you aren’t interested in music production.
I love the way this guy explains things in fl studio with rhythm :D
So true, The tips and tricks are also the performance which solidifies all of it :]
dayum making the mix narrower before a chorus is a genius trick
I never seen a 1:20 min video so precise thank you for the info and the lesson !
This is like the best and most creative tutorial I've ever seen. Unironically a masterpiece
I audibly gasped out loud when I heard the mono background track example because it was EXACTLY the type of sound I didn't know what to do with
0:35 Your strong swedish accent also helps to blend yourwordstogetherintoonereallylongword
Veri gudd Svidish aksent jäss jäss sou gudd
the automated mono building up to the chorus is so genius
"Subtle but nice" underrated
"It's not up to you."
Also this is a great tutorial.
Well now I gotta watch this again with my headphones backwards so my ears feel complete
Listening on a phone with stereo speakers, it's wild how much difference this subtle shift makes
Yeah, listening to this from my web cam speaker is amazing, I wish everyone made songs like this.
0:10 is the worst feeling a sound can make me feel
to be clear I think the channel and the video and the music are all very good, that specific moment is my only issue
u hate it when a sound pans quickly from side to side?
@@Lu_Ko_U don’t?
@@aztralsea nah not really? i guess it’s just different preferences or something?
I feel you, whenever I hear panning noises happening too fast I feel dizzy for some reason. Does this happen to you too?
unironically one of the best videos i've seen on youtube
well damn this was just 1:20 of pure, smooth, genius-level audio tips. and damn so punchy with the BGM.
Holy this is amazing. I just had a really weird empty feeling in a song and separating the "background" instruments with the lead ones then having drums and extra sounds in the middle immediately made it better
ive never seen an artsy tutorial, there's something new every day
The most Svedish English I’ve heard in a while
I figured this out like a year ago and apparently every producer knew this already
This was randomly, one of the best videos I've ever seen, honestly blown away.
That was really fun actually! Well made, easy to understand because you can see and hear it happening!
the day synthet stops making videos is the day the world ends
no but seriously, i love you dude these videos don't go wild they go FEROCIOUS, after over 3 years of using fl studio there is nothing in your videos that i HAVEN'T found useful, i can't explain how much i love 0:57 as well, i never thought of how important it could be to put alot of focus into the mixing in a buildup until now, thank you synthet you are our savior
f-fr-f-f-FEROCIOUS!?
0:40 DOO DO DUDU DOOO!! 🔥🔥🔥💯🗣💯🗣💯🔥🔥
Everything you make is edited so flawlessly ❤
Learning pretty fun when it comes with rhythm
Never have I subscribed to something, I wish i was capable of, as fast as I have right now.
"see it with headphones"
yes, seeing sounds
Was making hip-hp beats in FL in 2008....and now not doing anything there, but that's just awesome to watch your videos)
Just keep checking your summed mono signal. Don't want stuff to cancel out. Those phase offset plug-ins used for widening effects can cause this. Esp now that those blueteeth speakers are so important, mono is sadly very important.
this channel has helped me SO much and every video is so nicely made and silly, thank you so so much
I like the little animals or images around the video, it just fits when your talking about panning
Edit: why is this so popular
Dude I love this channel, literally just cooked some multiman bar fight ah beat, and was like DANG I CAN'T HEAR SHID EVERYTHING SOUNDS TOO NARROW. Then this beautiful vid appeared.
"you can use this wheel"... Great educational content 😂
Depends. The other way to stereoize a signal is by copying it to a second channel flipping it's phase and panning them in the opposite directions (the mid-side model instead of left-right). Usually a plugin like the ozone one you showed would do that for you. FL's mono/stereo knob literally makes the mid part (the one where the phases don't cancel out) quieter or louder relative to the side (the one where phases cancel out in the middle but are kept due to them being panned). There's also the Haas effect which offsets a phase of the signal instead of inverting it but works roughly the same way, I know serum has this one built in.
So my point is - simply panning works very well in music with lots of layered instruments, definitevly a good technique for layered vocals, when applied subtely it can work for cymbals and toms. However using the same thing for music with a couple instruments playing at the same time such as rock, metal, dubstep, minimal techno etc. is actually extremely distracting and it's better to use the mid-side approach most of the time leaving panning only for special effects. Like that's obviously just my opinion tho but I've heard panning overused too many times 😂
This sounds so good on dual speaker phone !
me without headphones: yeah seems about right
this random video that popped on my feed, I watched it. and decided to subscribe.
Panning is 1 of my 5 mixing tips in my recent video! It’s so important and overlooked by far too many people
If you can't see the stereo separation knob in mixer channel you toggle them on/off by pressing the blue/white button next to where it says "Extra Large" at 0:54. If you hover over it the description reads "View extra volume / stereo properties". 👍
Now I understand premium youtube
The "subtle but nice" went hard af
Interesting. Back in 2009 when I was 16/17 I recorded my own rap music at home and I had no idea how to mix. There were no tutorials, nothing, so I just tried to recreate what I heard in songs. I naturally panned all my elements out to the sides, that's what I thought mixing was all about until now lol. Didn't know until now that a lot of people apparently don't do that? 🤔
Just tried shrinking down to mono before a chorus. And it’s subtle, but OMG
I love your editing style, peak content, easiest learning channel
This channel is a hidden gem.
I needed this.
These are killer videos, man. Been mixing for years, and this is all spot on stuff for panning. But you know what I’ve never really thought about somehow? Using a mono signal the way you might use space before a drop to make it hit harder. Genius. I always come away with at least one new idea or perspective, and I love it. Great work, man.
Important to note that having everything panned to center does not mean your signal sum is mono. You can have a "wide" mix with all signals panned center.
"use headphone"
me who doesn't have one: welp i'll just have to use speakers as a headphones instead
Really love the panning to center for tension building before chorus. Working on something this morning and I think that’s definitely gonna help the feel! Awesome video as always!
At 0:04 I saw a face lol
And i’m a believer

perfect channel, shot, precise content, nicely cut, beautiful. keep on making content, it's really helpful
I learned panning from early Beatles records.
Today i learned that panning doesn't have to be some god awful demon that rear's it's head when somebody accidentally clicks a panning knob on a whole video's audio or when somebody tries to get creative without thinking it through
This was actually really cool to see and something I could even make use of in the future
rears* its*

I use Logic Pro and still watch this channel.
super dope video, thanks for the info sometimes even if you know all of this tricks its good to refresh the mind. Love the content keep it up
im stealing this advice thank you good sir
The svenglish is strong in this one
I was like yea duh up until the last tip, then I was like oh shit fuck lol
you should make a vid focusing on how to balance everything out
The puns sold me, i mean pans
Aw. I was expecting more bunnage from this.
Also. the real challenge it's to mix thigns or people with mono devices or single-operating-ear setups, without the conversion to mono destroying everything about the track lol
great video, watched it without phones tho, still worked
Honestly, it's cool, but the problem with my brain is that if I hear and notice unbalanced volumes, it gets uncomfortable...
ah yes, my one weakness as a half deaf person.
Wow this is an S Tier channel!

I'm not too sure that's what it's called
I love using S1 waves to create dynamics with widths, I learned it from Ian Kirkpatrick haha
I love all of these.
That mono automation is genius. I'll use it in all of my future projects.
I'll make sure to stereo my backing vocals as well. And also, I'll make sure to stereo my 808s
release this with your voice!
Peak after peak
Merging doesn't "bring something to the centre" it just collapses whatever will sum to the centre, but all the stereo difference stuff is lost. Panning stereo sounds is newb shit
You sound an awful lot like Jonatan Leandoer, I'm onto you Lean
I have my speakers set up behind me cause I switched desk and only now realize why I always head in the wrong direction when I hear sounds in games.
I instantly thought of the confused Mr. Krabs meme and now I can't stop laughing
quality video! subbed
hyperplexed but for music
just a heads up: if youre making club music you're gonna want to pan a bit less since in club venues the speakers are usually away from each other and you can have people in one side of the room getting a crappy mix. unfortunately the only solution for this is to make sure that you have enough frequency space in the mix for the elements of your song so that it does not become muddy. a big part of production is knowing how would you want people to listen to it, and what actual space your song has. it's a fun way to get creative too!
Just WOW!
0:00 is that The Knife with "Kino"?!
You've set the bar for informative music production videos as far as I'm concerned. Even when I know something you're talking about, it's still enjoyable. That's really difficult to pull off. Hats off to you sir!
I can't stand those remastered Beatles songs where everything is hard panned
like this
I will try this in my next video, so anyone please subscribe lol
This video really shook from side to side (no PAN intended...)
amazing vid
OH MY GOD

why do i like this goofy song so much? You got like 6 views out of me for it
