To anyone who complains about the format of this year's Oscar ceremony, just remember: without it, we would not have gotten the true scope of this heartbreaking speech before he was played off-stage. Well-deserved, Mr. Vinterberg.

This was literally the only speech where the extended time was warranted. But even then, if they had the usual tighter timeframe, maybe he would've cut out all the shit about the investors that nobody cares about.

Congratulations to another round for this well deserved Oscar. I would like to give a little insight on how much of a joke this category is when it comes to the voting process and how the movies get selected to get to the final round which is the Oscars live show. First for those who don’t know all categories in the Oscars get voted in by their fellow peers that are apart of the Oscar committee meaning actors vote in the acting categories and composers vote in the music category and the rest of the categories the same thing happens but this category which is called best international feature film the same does not happen in this category like in the previous ones I just mentioned so instead of having people that have the expertise and knowledge in voting in foreign films or foreign languages they basically allow everybody from all the branches of the Oscar committee vote in on this category meaning people from make up and costume design can vote on this category and people from production design can vote on this category etc. until everybody from every branch has voted so for however many rounds this category goes up to until they get to the live show is how the winner of this category is determined which is baffling to me because I doubt they even know what their looking at or what to look for so no wonder so many movies recently let alone in the last few years have been getting snubbed and will keep getting snubbed until the system is fixed so don’t expect your favorite international movie or movies to get nominated for a very long time now that you guys know how it works. This category definitely needs 10 movies in it like best picture because when you think about it this is the best picture category for the international movies so why not expand it to allow more movies to be eligible because two movies that I would’ve like to have seen get nominated is miracle in cell number 7 which is on Netflix from Turkey but it’s a remake of the original from South Korea it’s about a mentally challenged man convicted of murder of a little girl he did not commit. This second one I have not seen yet but I’ve been able to see it through clips available online is called the man standing next from South Korea starring byung hun lee it’s about a KCIA agent who kills the South Korean president in 1979 and how that all unraveled.

Collective would have been a cool win for this category, but since that is a documentary, I personally would have given this win to Another Round as is. I’m glad that Thomas Vinterberg is getting the recognition he deserves (even if Another Round is my least favorite film of his), and this is easily the most accessible out of all the nominees for this category. So a well-deserved win overall.
Also, I’m actually a little disappointed that Another Round didn’t get nominated for Best Picture. It would have deserved it, plus it got a Director nomination for Vinterberg, and that usually guarantees a film for a Best Picture nomination. They had eight nominees this year, they could have easily made room for it. It obviously wasn’t going to win Best Picture if that did happen, but I consider this a snub either way.
