Well of course! The onyx studio 7 isn't designed to be a grab and go rugged waterproof speaker like the extreme 3. Yes both are 50 watts but the application is completely different. Think of it like car brands. Jeep for example makes rugged off road suvs or used to at least. Like jbl products. Chrysler on the other hand builds luxury cars that ride and handle smoothly. The same goes for harmon kardon. It's the luxury brand. Designed for smooth easy listening sessions sitting in the corner of the room on a coffee table or shelf. And it has a smaller battery because its an indoor unit.
BMW’s come with HK speakers and I heard them in action in my friends car and was blown away, literally. I had the Onyx 6 and just ordered the Onyx 7. All I can say is I must have purchased at least 10 different Bluetooth speakers in the search for one with the best bass. HK definitely delivers that when playing it indoors. Shakes entire bedrooms with the right song. If you’re looking for the outdoor beach party banger you’d probably need the JBL

As today xtreme had several firmware updates (I imagine here it hadn’t the equalizer yet) and it improved in clarity and keeping some bass at full volume
Fun fact about almost if not all JBL speakers, at full volume the bass is lowered and I personally think it’s to save battery and to protect the system from blowing itself up

They had the onyx on sale and I bought one on a wim. Other than the battery life, which probably correlates with using it at a high volume, I couldn’t be happier about the purchase. I have a little Jbl for when I disc golf but the studio 7 sounds amazing.

The Harman kardon Onyx 7 will be a better recommendation when it comes to the quality of sound for both high & low freq. And through wireless dual sound... you can able to connect 2 of Onyx studio 7 wirelessly and have a real stereo experience for music and movie. By the way does ur projector comes with bluetooth?
Nice observation.. I have both of these brands cause I love them alot. When youre looking for bass these 2 really stand out. Both are impressive, but the only difference is the usage either inddor and outdoor..

I have 2 HK Onyx 4s and LOVE the way they sound paired (and powered, as they lose oomph when run on battery). I have two JBL Charge 5s and love them as well, especially when paired, but I rarely use them that way. Both great speakers, but I must say that HK for pure overall sound quality is tough to beat. Both great speakers.
JBL if you want to have more fun listening, rocking, etc.. Also, a better "show" speaker for live shows..more dynamic, powerful, etc... I will go JBL here..
As Always, JBL Xtreme 3 Sounded like a Phone Speaker compared to Onyx Studio 7, i heard both Speakers in Personal, and Onyx Studio 7 feels like you even have an Amplifier, with enormous amount of Deep Bass. While JBL Xtreme 3 just like Sony only has MID Bass not Low Bass.
Actually the sound quality goes mostly to the jbl. Is has wider soundstage. The harman is mostly for heavy bass at low volumes with jbl is also very good at
@@shoerice5083 Actually no, soundstage doesnt mean better audio quality, it only means theres a feeling that you can point where are the instruments located and this usually doesnt add anything when you use this speakers outside as soundstage works only when standing in one point and not moving around. Also if you check the audio forums and the audio measurements the claims are that the Harman sounds better, also my own experience having tried both and owned the Jbl. Jbl and Harman are both Samsung companies, one is for high end sound and lifestyle (Harman) and the other is the cheaper for everyone with good sound (JBL). The argument about the more expensive harman in this also fails because the xtreme is more expensive. In my view, both products are at the same price and quality level. Harman kardon is the real champ of bass. Jbl sounds like a young youth doing all it's best to keep up, while onyx studio is happily delivering its sound quality nature.
It really depends on the user's taste. But the bass sound really can impact the listening. So if u like softer and extended basa sound..its the Onyx7 or harder & stronger bass punch goes to xtreme3

I got both and nop...the HK sounds a lot better in every aspect....the JBL sounds excellent but whenever you put both side by side the HK sounds clear but punchy and immersive. The JBL lacks that 3d sound imo. The portability of the JBL is what make it bad ass...
@Adineo yep i went to TMobile to exchange my phone and i saw both of these speakers in the display. Tried both and the onyx was a lot better..but a big difference in sound.
@Adineo probably they sell it hahaha...the difference was very substantial not only me noticed. My wife, my two kids, the TMobile guy, everyone...the sound is extremely nice in comparison with the JBL..

The problem with these Onyx? Battery life, they're like 8 hours rated. 1/3rd the competition.

Even if xtreme is from 53.5hz it is sounding good at 50 hz too, it tends to have a slight boost around 55hz
Onyx is really good why I'd choose jbl is because of the build quality, outdoor use and battery
