    I really enjoy watching your videos, it makes me remember my childhood experimenting on physics whit simple rocket kits, and trying to find out the exact point where a toy going to touch ground after being launched by using the parabolic launch equation and graphic model . Now as an architect and electronics enthusiast, after seeing your space x video series, I realized that i can make my own rocket models, I know that I have a really long way to learn before I can do it, but I’m to excited in every step, I started to experiment whit Grasshopper over my experience on parametric design and form finding to find the most efficient aerodynamic shapes, I know that I’m far to be an expert but I’m really grateful with you to teach me that I can fulfill that dream.

      @jimurrata6785 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Moon burning grains have a progressive-->regressive burn.
      You have to visualize how the hole will expand, and understand that the more active surface = more gas generated, and more pressure accelerates the reaction.
      Then one side reaches the inhibited side of the grain, and as the surface area starts to reduce, the pressure tapers off for a longer sustain.

    I don't know if it had anything to do with the failure of parachute deployment, but I have to share the idea:
    On a toy parachute I received as a child the attachment from the main line to the silk wasn't made of individual lines but of a coarse net. The parachute was extremely resistant to tangling. It probably is less effective per weight, but the reliability could offset this drawback.

    How about using a strong magnet to close a reed switch that latches a mosfet on. That would power/arm whatever you want and the reed switch can bounce all it wants after that. This would no holes post intergradation and with the solid state latched switch, vibration would not be an issue. You could even have another reed switch in a different location to turn everything off is you have to cancel a flight.

  • @dae1925
    @dae1925 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hey Joe, I had an Idea for your landing rocket. If we could use a tiny solid fuel thrusters on just one side of the rocket where the centre of mass is and put some wheels on the landing legs such that when returning to ground, the inbuilt roll control can orient the side with the thruster to the direction of horizontal motion and program the rocket such that when the horizontal velocity passes a certain threshold, the thrusters will fire nullifying the horizontal velocity and any residual horizontal velocity will be taken care of by the wheels. Take care that this happens during the landing phase only and the thruster shouldn't fire below some height or else a successful landing could be spoiled by the unwanted firing of the thruster
