Topeak Rack (Super Tourist DX), MTX Quick Track and MTX DXP Trunk Bag | Fitting and review

- I upgraded my rack to the Topeak Super Tourist DX rack as I wanted to try out the MTX Quick Track. To make the most of it I also purchased the MTX DXP Trunk Bag. See how easy it is to fit, and listen my initial impressions, as compared to my previous, more basic rack and bag.

Had the non-disc brake version for many years. Gave that bike and my Topeak back away in first lockdown to people who needed it. Just ordered this disc brake version for the urban bike that replaced the Specialized Tricross I gave away. Perfect for heavy shopping and, with the quick rack system, good for quick shopping or trip to gym
Weight is rarely a big factor in cycling (unless it's a lot of weight). Aero matters more. If I'm intending to carry heavy luggage, eg tools to work on daughter's house, I want a heavy duty rack to cope with it, even if I usually don't need that strength
My steel bike weighs a ton! It's like a tank though, I never have any fear that the frame will snap when I encounter rough terrain!
I have a similar Topeak rack & 2 trunk bags. I use pannier baskets to carry groceries. I epoxied & screwed a Garmin 1/4 turn mount on an old reflector & screwed it on tths back so I can use my Garmin radar tail light. 5 years now , the mount has worked perfectly & so has the trunk bag & rack. Besides, why worry about weight if you going to carry cargo?

Nope, Tubus Cargo Evo is much more robust and flexible, particularly to mount large, heavy panniers. The big gaps at the bottom of the Topeak lack support for large bags. For light or commuting use, Topeak is fine,
My main problem with the Topeak so far is how wide it is at the bottom. My disk brakes don't stick out so I don't need that clearance. I think I was sold on the slide in bag, which is convenient when I use it, but they also offer an adapter to fit on other racks. I'll look into the Tubus as well, thank you.
Can you fit the top bag which slides on with panniers attached aswell? Thnaks.
It should be okay, but I've not checked. When I use my panniers I tend to strap my sleeping bag on to the top of the rack in a drybag.
Or use a saddle bag
Either the language is different or your sound system needs work.
Topeak is the best shit money can buy...stay away from it....and they are waaaay over prised as well.
What rack brand would you recommend?
I don't know what these people would do in the 60 70s when real cyclists got on the fully loaded bikes and road across Europe,they never had a silly pair of scales. To day there pathetic babys. Just get on your bike and ride,I never weighed anything in my life 😅
