Be patient with the pine! See what back-budding it offers rather than seeking to impose a style. Another year with lots of food before you have a go at the roots.
I'm so very impressed with the look of your Ta Prong temple. The green algae accompanied with the ficus roots is starting to look so natural over your cement blocks and it is so hard to believe how you started this project. It's brilliant! Your patience & that is what bonsai is all about, is coming for us all to see. Wonderful. 👍👍
I feel like the reason I have so many trees now is because I couldn't wait to 'bonsai something' at first! I had to be working on something at all times 😂, now I've gotten myself in a situation where there's just not enough time to address everything I'd like to! Can't wait to see how you transform this Scott's pine, I did the same thing to a large BNS when you top-downed this one, I got crazy roots in the bonsai soil this year so this one will take off for you eventually I'm sure! Must really be a slow grower. Thanks Nigel!
Great updates! Meow!! Haha! You still have Momma cat? One or two kittens? Just like your older videos with your other two cats you had. That squirrel LOL Got big. What a nut... Your Bday tree looks much better than it did when you got it. Health wise.
Love the Scott's pine its going to look awesome when its finished, the temple is one great looking piece of art gets better with every update love it, Thanks for Sharing Nigel 👍😀
I’m relatively new to the channel in the last year. I was watching videos and stumbled across that series, of them disassembling it and talking about putting it up at home. I’ve been wondering about that ever since.
Have you thought about drilling some holes in the side of the pot with the pine. On the layer where the new soil meets the old soil. So the water can get out easier?
I like your Bonsai Zone updates Nigel.... it's good to see how everything is progressing and makes a change from pruning one tree each week. Change is as good as a rest as they say. Just one more month until the shortest day, then it's back on the treadmill preparing for longer days. That's how I always look at it....
For your birthday pine, on those long cold winter nights brew up a cup of warming tea and have some good thoughts on how to do your tree. Sometimes winter brings out some good ideas.
Nigel, I would wager that particular tree will continue to spin off witches' broom growth. You mentioned Ray noticed slower growth, plus the large spray of dead branches midway up the trunk is very broom-like. Whatever is causing the "brooms," bugs or fungus, also is probably responsible for the tree's "beefiness." It will be interesting watching this one develop!
I think the tree is in too big a pot so the soil will stay too wet because the tree is too small to use up the moisture it contains, I also think with having the old soil at the bottom it will stay very wet creating a “soggy bottom” I would not hesitate to repot the tree I feel if it stays in this pot it won’t gain vigour and could actually loose it because the soil is staying too wet. Smaller pot, remove old soil the roots will then be less wet and have more warmth then the tree will gain vigour.
Talking about your pine. Pines lives in symbiosis with mycorrhiza … or the roots does. Could be an idea to support with some. Also Lactobacillus support the root mass. I know, that you dont believe in that, but you might try it one day 😎🇩🇰🇩🇰🌳

Ottimo video come sempre riesci a colpirmi, ancora una volta complimenti.
Hi Nigel! Check your pine closely! From the distance it looks like it has mealybugs.
Happy Birthday

Your birthday gift scotch pine is growing very well. I'm eagerly waiting for its repotting video

Oh man that squirrel bit was the best ! 😂 how cute are they, wish we had them in Australia
They are very cute, but be careful what you wish for!!
Hi Nigel, with the holidays coming up, maybe you could make a video on gift ideas for bonsai enthusiasts of various experience levels!
Cool updates!!!

Love the Scott's pine its going to look awesome when its finished, the temple is one great looking piece of art gets better with every update love it, Thanks for Sharing Nigel 👍😀
We remember that you bought a huge hoop house a few years ago. Whatever did you do with that? My husband asks all the time.

I think it's still in plan to do that big green house with it but I guess both he and Laura haven't had the time yet.
Happy belated birthday Nigel, and your pine looks amazing.

Good luck with that garage pad! Great updates! The trees are looking great, the temple is looking amazing
Your collection is looking amazing. Love the updates. Thanks, keep growing

Thanks Barry!!
Good updates. The big pine is an interesting one. I'm looking forward to its development!
I hope everything went well with the Blood Wood Tree!
Thanks, yes the Bloodwood tree is doing really well!!
Hi Nigel! Can you show us an update on the money tree?

Hard to wait on some trees.
👍👌👌
It's remarkable your ficuses are growing so proliferously at this time...here at India, even my ficus plants have slowed down. Great Job Sir!!
How about air layering the top off the root over temple project? Enjoyed the updates!

Agreed. The old soil in the bottom creates a perched water table.
Could this be the episode I’ve been waiting for?
I have to say that temple looks great. U have done a great job with it. Keep up the great work
All the plant shuffling reminds me that I've gotta figure out how to take all my plants for a move across the country. 🤔
I hope all goes well!!
The update videos are great! Ive been waiting for that pear tree to be pruned too!

Thanks for the tips!
Looks great! Where are your baobab trees? ☺
They are in the plant room and doing well!
And now I want to talk to squirrels!
That's the spirit!!
