A huge part of 80’s fashion were the hairstyles. Big, bigger and biggest, hot-rolled, poofy and Aqua-netted. The model here wasn’t wearing an 80’s hairdo. It would’ve made the outfit!
I know! I think that’s why I went with the retro 60s mini skirt. Unfortunately I wish I could say I took a hard pass on the “Prairie Princess” look but I cannot.
@@gingertwerk472 it wasn’t that historically accurate, they more just look vaguely like the decade if you don’t know much about historical fashion. Like in the 20s only prostitutes and dancers would have shown their knees.
My favorite eras of fashion are 50's and 60's; classy and fashionable. Nowadays, depending on the fashion designer some dresses and/or tops are crazy or trashy look. As said 'depending on the designers'. We seriously need 50s and 60s style back. 🙆♀️
First of all, you have to decide if you’re gonna show day dresses, or formal dresses. Secondly, almost nothing in this video is accurate. Most glaring is the fact that YOU WOULDN’T SHOW YOUR KNEES IN THE 1920’s. Not to mention the fact that there should be no definition of the waist as far as the fit. And that just the first one! Goodness me, just hire a dress historian, or just do any research whatsoever on each decade.
The dress showed in the video was pretty inaccurate tho. 1940s dress almost always had a TIGHT belt cinching the waist, and the material was often coarse. Overall the dress would need to be up to two sizes smaller to even begin to suit the 1940s silhouette.
@@szarlota2753 This video is supposed to show how clothes looked back then, and dresses and skirts in the 1920's were never that short. They rarely exposed the knees, and if they did, they only barely exposed them.
I just love the 60's fashion! Those short dresses with go go boots and the hairstyles.....just adorable! I was a teen in the 80's and I enjoyed all the god-awful hair and clothes trends.. my hair was huge! It was totally awesome!
Me, too!! I loved the Stray Cats and I still do!! When I was in my early 20's, I tried wearing my hair a la Brian Setzer, although not as masculine, of course!! I did brush it back and up and fluffed it out on top, and I had really nice, thick wavy hair, so it stayed where I put it!! No gel or pomade needed!! The clothes were so cute, too!! Great era!!☺️☺️❤️🎄🎄✝️⚜️
I'm glad to know I'm not the only person who appreciates the 80s. I wasn't around then myself, but one of my favourite TV series is Remington Steele and I loved how Laura dressed in that - wish I had a dress for every time I swooned over her look! Not to mention my own mom back then.
In the sixties and seventies we wore many different dress styles- mini, midi, maxi lengths. Mod styles, the prairie look, "gypsy" styles, halter dresses, Nehru collars, etc. Fashion swung on a huge pendulum during those years- it was fun!
this is tragic..goes to show that adults lose their creativity after school? :( what has the system done to us...now adults probably rely on the creative brains of youth
Most of my dresses have pockets. Its about not accepting less than perfection. Save your money to have 1 perfect dress. Its better to wear 1 food dress than to have 10 meh things. Trust me.
In the 20s, dresses were always below the knees... well that is kinda for every decade until the 40s, Also if you want I more historically accurate depiction of how people dress back then, go to Karolina's (I think that's how you spell it) channel
In the 20s the dress was to be below the knees to save fabric during wartime. Before the it was to be expected to have your dress go down to your ankles(1890) and before then it was to the floor with tall stockings and boots(before 1890s).

1950s dress would really go well with any body type, i think? Bc it creates the hourglass shape instantly. Love it!
No, the "hourglass" shape was created with tight, elasticized foundation garments squeezing and padding the body. People forget that part.
no, they dont. Women had to wear a girdle underneath with was some kind of horrendous contrictive underwear.
Well I know when *I* wear a dress like that I *Do* look more hourglass-like so:😛

@@slvrcross it's not a matter of the dress. it's the dress combined with everything else. the boots. the makeup. the slicked back hair. all of these have potential to look good but together it's a hot mess. she doesnt look youthful she looks homeless (no offense to the homeless)
People still wear the 1950's dress. My best friend wore it in prom last year and she looked gorgeous.
I love 50s styles, but I don't necessarily think modern fashion is trashy. To each his own though I guess
Me and my gf actually dress up as a 1950s couple sometimes. It's great, I highly recommended everyone to do it as well.
The 50's dress was amazingly beautiful
Love the 20s, 50s, and 70s most.
I love the 50s and 60s the most so I pretty much agree and I like your user lol
And 40s
iloveforeignaccentstoo
loveforeignaccents same
loveforeignaccents i lovveee the 50's
OMG THE 20'S SHOES
Hannah Crowell Where the heck can I find those??
thelilpumspi They’re Louboutins!
The entire OUTFIT
Yas I need them
The ones shown were actually pretty inaccurate for the time period. But I agree that they were perfectly gorgeous shoes!
GIRL YOUR DRESS SHOULD NOT BE OVER YOUR KNEES IF ITS THE TWENTIES
Chill. It’s not the real thing
@@bellalatham03 um- this video is ABOUT fashion history? You’re supposed to make it historically accurate
I've rewatched these videos a thousand times and yet I'm still never ready for when the 80s fashion appears.
Harriet McPherson it was a difficult time for all of us
A huge part of 80’s fashion were the hairstyles. Big, bigger and biggest, hot-rolled, poofy and Aqua-netted. The model here wasn’t wearing an 80’s hairdo. It would’ve made the outfit!
Cooper Hilinsky And to this day, women with flat hair all look alike to me
It was dreadful 😫. I was a teenager in the 80s and I lived in the previous decade all the way through it.
I know! I think that’s why I went with the retro 60s mini skirt. Unfortunately I wish I could say I took a hard pass on the “Prairie Princess” look but I cannot.
I like the 1940's dress because it has pockets
Explorer Kids I wish I could like this comment a Billion times!
I Don't Know What To Call My Channel LoL
LITERALLY ME
XD
Explorer Kids same omg
50s forever
yess me2 bc my mom was born 1950s she is 67 years old born nov 16 1950 she still alive !!! and my dad born in nov 19 1946 still alive !!
+iphone music what? My grandmother was born in 1935 xD
Meg Truett yeah it was so pretty
yaasss that was so pretty
yesss
the last dress is amazing!
I really love dresses in the 40's women carried themselves with dignity and pride back then.
Me too
Also 40s dresses look very comfortable to wear
IKR!!
Me to they look so comfortable to, not to short not to long.
Patricia the booke i like it cuz there’s pockets.....
I like the 40s’, the fashion, the music, the art, they just feels right for me
UarchT same 😅😰
ups, you forgot the war
you forgot about the war, racism was still around, and the multiple epidemics of polio.
Ooooooo the 50s IS SOOO PRETTY
Ikr
The 50s dress was so pretty!
Enjoy the video, you guys. But just know: This isn't historically accurate at all. More like inspired by history.
Yes! It’s more like vaguely historically inspired modern fashion, except for 50’s and 20’s, which are just stereotypical costumes.
More like halloween costumes
At all?
@@gingertwerk472 it wasn’t that historically accurate, they more just look vaguely like the decade if you don’t know much about historical fashion. Like in the 20s only prostitutes and dancers would have shown their knees.
It's kind of quintessentia af every decade.
My favorite eras of fashion are 50's and 60's; classy and fashionable. Nowadays, depending on the fashion designer some dresses and/or tops are crazy or trashy look. As said 'depending on the designers'. We seriously need 50s and 60s style back. 🙆♀️
Chrystal Bess Redding no we need 40s back
Yeah bring back sexism and racism! (Kidding I loved the look too)
They 're aren't trash though.
Nowadays dresses especially on fashion shows are a trainwreck
Agreed
I LOVE 50's DRESS 😍😍😍💕💕
First of all, you have to decide if you’re gonna show day dresses, or formal dresses. Secondly, almost nothing in this video is accurate. Most glaring is the fact that YOU WOULDN’T SHOW YOUR KNEES IN THE 1920’s. Not to mention the fact that there should be no definition of the waist as far as the fit. And that just the first one! Goodness me, just hire a dress historian, or just do any research whatsoever on each decade.
And don't forget the stereotypical fringes that only the very rich could afford
The shoes!
The shoes were different-
i think here is the snuffy side of the comments lol-
I totally agree with you. It annoys me so much.
I like everything in the video except, they always show the 1920s first not the 1910s. I wish they start counting in 1910s rather than 1920s
Is 100 years, not 110.
Lucas David well apparently someone failed math class. lol jk
Lol, my bad.
Yeah, 1910s is one of my favorite decades, but they always skip it :(
Juno Destine or the 1900s
I’m absolutely obsessed with the 50’s look. I love the style of everything. Ialsoreallylikegoingtoruby’sdinerlol
I can't take you seriously with your pfp lol
Cause she's a blondie
i like the 1940's! so simple and elegant💜
r m True
r m ayeeee armies
The dress showed in the video was pretty inaccurate tho. 1940s dress almost always had a TIGHT belt cinching the waist, and the material was often coarse. Overall the dress would need to be up to two sizes smaller to even begin to suit the 1940s silhouette.
Army!
@@rayn724 ❤👋
Omg please bring back 1950s I love it!
The 50’s dress tho😍😍😍
I love the 50s dress, so beautiful
Love 50s dress just gorgeous
20's dress is TOO SHORT. Looks more like costume than reproduction.
Beautiful designs: amzn.to/3cIBSMG
@@susilaraja4365 too common
What, why? XDD
@@szarlota2753 This video is supposed to show how clothes looked back then, and dresses and skirts in the 1920's were never that short. They rarely exposed the knees, and if they did, they only barely exposed them.
Alright feminist calm down
LOVED the 50's dress
The 20s dress is too short. The hemline wouldn't be above the knees. Even the dress in the photo you show is below the knees.
Does it matter? >:(
Emerson Buckley it kinda does
Yeah
And also, please dont call me by my full name MysticOceanDollies
Emerson it was probably just cause they hit reply and by default your name was put in.
The lady for 1930s needs to calm down😂
FC H that’s what I was thinking 😂😂
FC H Haha, yeah she's definitely losing her shhh, plus the other decades she's in, she can't stand still!
FC H ikr
Definitly 50's... I've Always loved this style
Omg the dress of the 50s😍😍😍
My dress style is a mixture of the 40's and 50's
I just love the 60's fashion! Those short dresses with go go boots and the hairstyles.....just adorable! I was a teen in the 80's and I enjoyed all the god-awful hair and clothes trends.. my hair was huge! It was totally awesome!
Me, too!! I loved the Stray Cats and I still do!!
When I was in my early 20's, I tried wearing my hair a la Brian Setzer, although not as masculine, of course!!
I did brush it back and up and fluffed it out on top, and I had really nice, thick wavy hair, so it stayed where I
put it!!
I think you guys should do more high school fashion, because youth are huge in the inspiration for the fashion industry
True
I am short of trendy outfits
this is tragic..goes to show that adults lose their creativity after school? :( what has the system done to us...now adults probably rely on the creative brains of youth
1950's and 2010's black dress 💜💜💜
My fav 3:
1920’s
1950’s
2000’s
Matilda Chamberlain Agree, but 80s instead of 20s
1920's? Really?
Matilda Chamberlain couldn’t agree more
Mine - 1940s
1940s, 1950s and 2000s
why those styles more elegant than now? i really love them!
WE WANT POCKETS! More pockets please
Finally a person with taste
Agreed
Ashley Weill yasss the dresses were actually really nice
Yes I need POCKETS
Most of my dresses have pockets. Its about not accepting less than perfection. Save your money to have 1 perfect dress. Its better to wear 1 food dress than to have 10 meh things. Trust me.
Early squad! 50’s dress FTW
ikr my mom was born in 1950s and 40s too my mom was born 1950s !!! she used to have those dresses
Heather Chandler Yass
Heather, I thought you should like the 80s one best, seeming that's how you dressed
Heather aren't you dead
AnnaMac Studios lol that too
DEFINITELY THE 50’s 😍😍😍
In the 20s, dresses were always below the knees... well that is kinda for every decade until the 40s,
Also if you want I more historically accurate depiction of how people dress back then, go to Karolina's (I think that's how you spell it) channel
Laurel Newson actually, when in a normal standing position, the knees wouldn’t show until the 1960’s unless you were a small child.
@@MirandaMilner yes quite
meme mom!
In the 20s the dress was to be below the knees to save fabric during wartime. Before the it was to be expected to have your dress go down to your ankles(1890) and before then it was to the floor with tall stockings and boots(before 1890s).
@@Bawdy420 hi, fellow karolina zebrowska stan :D
I wish most dresses still had pockets
