Hey Brett & Mel, thanks for showing us those camps. That cave sunset photo could win an award. You certainly have had a lovely family time camped with the Whittles. Kaylee is so good with the boys. Mel, I’m sorry to hear about your job. Yes, it certainly was terrible timing. All the best with the harvesting job, and stay positive guys. Often things do have a way of turning out for the best. Stay safe, and see you next video. Lyn ❤
Thanks Lyn, the road trip down the west coast of the E.P. is really breathtaking. I'm glad you liked my photo, I was a bit disappointed in it. It's not until we're long gone that I realised how I should have taken the photo. Oh well, next time I'm in a cave looking at a sunset, I will know what to do haha. Thanks for your kind words and continuing support, it's much appreciated.
Hear what you’re saying about having to book in . We recently did SA / south west WA . We found one of the biggest problems was having to constantly book ahead . Gone are the days of lobbing in and jagging a spot , there are so many people on the road . You’re lucky to camp in free camps , my wife prefers van parks like a lot of others . 😊
@mojo2353 yeah last time we were here it was all free camps and first come first serve. We have now found some around here which is book online but unallocated which I think is the way to go. Your guaranteed to have a spot but don't have to select the spot before you arrive.
Hey guys, great vlog! Brett, well done on putting together another fantastic production. 👍 I loved the drone footage, scenic views, and the insights into your camping experience. It’s awesome to see you all still hanging out with your great mates! Mel, I’m sorry to hear about the job loss - that must be tough for you guys. 😔 Fingers crossed that the harvesting gig works out!🤞Take care and stay safe Kind regards, Corrie
Thanks Corrie, hanging with whittles is good for them and good for us. We are loving having the good company. Mels been at work this week, it's very different from anything she's ever done previously but she is enjoying it. Thanks again for watching and commenting, we love hearing from you guys every week.
We loved that area when we visited it and brought back good memories. Another great vid. Sorry to hear re Mel’s job but am sure something will come along and hope the harvesting goes well
Sorry to hear mel. I now how u feel. Im a support worker and their been many times i lose 15 hrs weekly to all my work hr. Always happens to me near xmas time. Dont panic something better will come along
Loved it🥰Fantastic sunset photo from the cave. Great company & great food Chef Brett. Loved the normal walking Wombat hunt. And you saw a big wombat! Keep on living the dream. Look forward to the next episode. Luv Mum🥰
I think paid areas should have both options, where there are numbered sites to book in advance and another section that’s first in best dressed to accommodate travellers and locals alike. Pre booked is good if you wanna get a spot after work on a Friday!
@zacmather8486 that's actually a brilliant idea. We found another camp that was unallocated but book online which I think also works. There was space for probably up to 20 or so vans but they have it limited to 10 bookings so plenty of space. I thought this was good too.
@dontdyalusweretravelling4718 wonder why it's not graded like the others. Perhaps it just receives alot more traffic. I took those big mac wraps to another level, they are so yummy. Thanks for watching.
Hi Guys we love your content and also love SA. We were down Talia caves end of May but campground was getting updated. Gives us a good excuse to go back. Thanks
Ok Guys, Yep its me here in Albany WA. Bumped into some wonderful people in the local Camec store and noticed that the wife was wearing something I recognised, I happened to ask and you guessed it, we both follow you guys and apparently gets her outfits from the same place. OMG trend setting or what😁😁
Great video and great campsites. Agree we don't like the booking system with booked sites. Would be better if they had a it so that a campsite wit say 6 sites you could book a site and once the 6 sites are booked that's it for the day/night, and then first in best dressed.
Thanks for watching glad to hear you enjoyed it. We have now done another camp here on the E.P and that's how it works, they call it "unallocated". say a limit to 10 bookings with an area that could accommodate up to 20 vans and just roll in and pick a spot. Much nicer and in a way better than first in best dressed because you can be sure you will get a spot, though I'm sure you would need to be planned well in advance in holiday seasons.
When it's predicted to be windy I do the opposite to what you guys do, as I look for a big clearing.......I would rather the motorhome rock a bit in the wind than have a tree fall on it.... overcautious 🙂
Hey, you're absolutely right. It would be very silly to park under trees, particularly the eucalyptus trees down here. They don't call them widow makers for no reason. But we were around low shrubby trees and only tucked in near them, not under them.
With more and more people out and about vanning etc, I think we are going to see more and more ‘formality’ creeping its way into the Free Camping World!! 🤷♂️🤷♂️
It just takes the fun out. I guess some people like to be organised and travel to a schedule and the system probably suits them very well. And others prefer to not know when and where they are going next and we fall in to this group.
Great episode guys. Sorry to hear about Mel's job, we had no idea 😮 understand it must feel like a difficult time but I've no doubt you guys will work it all out for the better. Can I please also ask, why do the Whittles tow in 4th over 5th? I can understand that 5th in an auto is overdrive generating additional heat but not sure why with a manual gearbox? Thank you
Hey mate, thanks for your support. It is difficult times at the moment, but I'm sure we will emerge at the other end stronger. As to the 4th over 5th gear thing, I'm not sure I'm qualified to answer, perhaps Mark from @ourwhittleadventure will chime in.
It is because or the gear ratio, 4th gear is a 1:1 ratio where as 5th is .83:1 so 5th gear isnt really designed to handle the “load” that would be put on the transmission whilst towing. Its probably fine on a long straight flat road but i would rather not risk it, better to use a bit more fuel then to blow a gearbox. Is a valid question and not something too many people think about.
@Ourwhittleadventure Thanks for explaining this mate, appreciate it. Alot to try take in. We have an auto 2022 Hilux SR5 and do note towing in 4th manual under 80km fantastic fuel economy and no engine and gearbox happy but 90-100km just too high revs. Hoping that the long flat straight kind of driving will be ok in 5th but don't quite understand the ins and outs of what it might be doing (or not doing?) in the background. Asking the question before I've had knowledgeable folk say they prefer 4th too and 5th puts more strain on the engine but in reality - these Toyota engineers know this and rate the vehicles for 3.5t. is it really a problem? I'm not sure
@@72superlead yeh your right they are built for this sort of thing and it might be completely fine but id rather not put that extra strain on the car if i can avoid it. Mine will sit on 2500rpm at 90-95km/h and i get about 20-21L/100kms so its not really been an issue for me to stay in 4th
@Ourwhittleadventure Thanks mate, great advice. I'm since learning that 5th ratio will of course rev lower, but engine will labour harder to turn it creating more strain. Apparently Toyota manual states tow in 4th too, I haven't had a proper look. Thanks again and safe travels to you all
@Accolades70 mels working the harvest. There are fields of wheat as far as the eye can see down here and at this time of year they harvest it and need lots of help to get it done.

We agree, we hate online booking spaces and then you rock up and can’t fit in the site or you don’t like that one. Donation boxes were way better!!
