    The amount of tactics and sacrifices in this game was insane. Also refreshing to see non SGM level games.

    Great video, Sam! Your commentary was very informative. May I recommend putting the players' names on their respective side of the board in future videos?

      Yea! I'll work on this template. Still thinking about some new ways to present the game.

    The main advantage I see of 8. g4 or 9. g4 is that it puts an end to black's dreams of playing a timely Soltis-style ...h5 to try to block up the kingside.

    13:00 white queen needs to move away. Can not take the pawn at b4?

      Really annoying how he did not covered that! I’m wondering the same thing. I don’t see what’s wrong with taking the pawn on b4 i stead of moving the Q to f2, when after taking on b4 the Q is in the center of protecting pretty much everything, including prote b2, d4, b8 (where the Black R is probably looking to go to), and also a4 where Black’s B can also goes to. I don’t see what Black’s clear continuation after Qxb4.
      I loved Sam’s videos but sometimes it’s just annoying how there’s some obvious line he didn’t (or forgot) to covered!
      Just now I saw that maybe Black can put R on c4 and fork White’s Q on b4 and B on d4, but White’s Q can still gives check on b8!, and then eliminating Black’s B on g7 after Black blocks with B to c8.

    Great video! My only suggestion is to pause just a little longer at "pause the video" moments. Two seconds before the reveal would be perfect!

    Love this new series! As Agadmator would say, black has a bishop pair from hell.

      The bishop pair was fully operational.

    Any way you could have flipped the board, so we can see this from the black player's perspective?

    Good one Sam! But who plays the Dragon anymore?

      Giri published a Sicilian Dragon repertoire in 2022 and it is very popular at club level

    • @mikecantreed

      People who aren’t GMs?

    • @odysseas573
      @odysseas573 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mikecantreed It has been played by Giri, MVL, Firouja and Dubov in 2022. It has also been played in almost the same amount of games as the classical King's Indian with 7. ... Nc6 which is one of the most famous and interesting variations ever. So to answer your questions: a lot of people play the sicilian dragon and a lot of them are GMs

      Nobody complains when someone shows a Morphy game where he plays the king's gambit, which probably fewer people play.
