Agree, the Sicilian Dragon Is so Much fun(at least until 18-1900 were White usually knows the Jugoslav Attack, then Is Just a Little less fun😆)

Mio...I have a favor to ask. I'm picking up the taimanov sicilian for black and was hoping you could do a game or however many you might like to play to show ideas and strategies in it. Unfortunately there's not a lot of content on the taimanov Sicilian that I've seen. I thank you for your time and it's always a pleasure to watch you play and teach.

In the 13. Nd5 line, I thought it was known that white should take back on d2 with the bishop rather than the rook. The play is similar but you don't have the constant issue of a bishop hanging on e3. Similarly, you analyse Short's 18. Bh6 but (afaik) current theory prefers 18. Nd4, which scores well for white. Finally, in the 13. Be2 and 17. Nb3 line, could black try 17...b6, in order to meet 18. Bd4 with ...Nc6? That looks like a possible way to fight for control of the a1-h8 diagonal if the extra tempo is not fatal somehow. In any case, a really really good video, full of useful high-level analysis and examples. Thank you!

    • @MiodragPerunovicOfficial

      18. Nd4 is a good move, you are right. That b6 is solid but not too active.

So excited to try this. I'm a Dragon player and get this opportunity all the time. Instead of Bd7 I've always been playing Qa5 0-0-0 Nxd4 Be6 Kb1 Rfc8 and enjoying either my familiar attacking channels or in the case of Nd5, my pet line Qxd2, Nxf6+, Bxf6, Rxd2, Kg7, Bxf6, Kxf6!, W-move, Ke5!, and then proceed to employ my King *in the middlegame* as if it's just any other minor piece. Never lost a game in this line except maybe a bullet or blitz or two on time or something. Just turns out that W has no way to pester your K on any black squares while it aids in your middlegame play as black. Plus, you get the satisfaction of watching your opponent slowly go from, "This guy is a lunatic" to ", okay so how do punish this, ..., "omgosh, there's no way to exploit it, and I'm almost down a piece because my K isn't up here helping out at all.
But I'm excited to play your line from now on.

Incredible analysis! Very impressive ideas! I've started playing this line recently and you covered all the major responses from White. It seems the "worst" black can do is get "chances," while black frequently wins due to the precision White must play with to survive or win. "Golden ideas." I guess I should get back to studying the KID, but the Dragon is so much fun! LOL ;)
