  • Scott shows us his nickel plating techniques. This turns ordinary objects into almost indestructible works of art - and they are beautiful. Warning: Do not drag you plated pistol behind your car... this is bad karma!!! LOL. Enjoy the video.

    Nicely detailed work. Worth paying this man a little more because he won’t cut any corners. I’m not a paid supporter I’m in Canada 🇨🇦 but I know good work when I see it after 40 years of gun collecting.

    You SIR are a Master Gunsmith / Craftsman … I truly enjoyed your video. I have been attempting to nickel plate some old late 1800s and early 1900s Pistols that I have acquired. I haven’t had very good luck and really don’t want to spend a lot of money doing so. The value of the pistols is not a lot and I usually get at an auction. Once I do I try and make them 100% functional. That alone is a chore with having to drill and tap and at times make small parts to replace the missing or worn or broken gun parts. The nickel plating is a disaster in many way. First you get a smooth finish and then a spattered rough finish that is almost impossible to smooth out and shine to a bright nickel finish. I have tried Caswell stuff and get mixed results. Also, the layer of nickel has caused an assembly issue with parts. That’s a whole other issue. Great video and keep them coming 👍

    Hi Scott. Love your video. If I may, I would have a question. I have a Remington 1875 nickel plated replica that tarnishes to my touch. I've never had a nickel plated one before. Is there some kind of wax or polish I can use in PREVENTION of this oxidation ? Thank you sir :-)

    Could you please tell me what parts to nickel plate and what not? Are the pins do able? Trigger ? Thank you

  • @kirkethridge2500
    @kirkethridge2500 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    just compress the spring & push a pin through one of the holes, & it comes apart easy,, they are usually really dirty inside (my 1903 pocket hammerless was from 1925, probably the same style magazine) near impossible to get the inside of a magazine clean without disassembly,, maybe ultrasonic cleaning will??

    Quick question: I have a part that I am going to be plating, but there is an area that cannot be plated. What is the best method of "masking" that area off. I have heard painting with lacquer would work.

    • @poboyspecial
      @poboyspecial  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes i have a can of some stuff called mask, i think all it is is lacquer.or after you clean it i have used like the blue tape to mask the Area I didn't want plated.

    Not sure how he got the Caswell bright nickel plating kit to work we must of got screwed here in Australia, those anodes look larger than the current nickel anodes on for sale by Caswell. There Bright Nickel kit aways needs post polishing.

    Wanting to nickle plate the action of my Henry .17 hmr lever action . The cover is one piece and scratches when you look at it. I've nickle plated some small parts like hammers and triggers but nothing this big. HELP! What should I buy such as power (usng a small power source that came from a kit), the solution that came with it as was the thin copper and nickle. Not sure what purity the nickle is but it claims to be almost pure but I'm doubtful. Please tell me where to buy, what to buy and how long to do it. PLEASE.
