@turbancp sorry, that's strike 3. just for the record, these were two different laws. one against the operation of autonomous vehicles on roads (which was about restricting autonomous cars, i.e. cars that drive themselves) and the other about operating wireless devices (which only applies to drivers).

@darkergambit3129 to the contrary, the new laws will actually enable you to fly commercially. before everything being done for money was off-limits. We do not receive any cash (or other form of payment) for these videos. Sometimes they pay for the flight, sometimes they send us free equipment. It's not commercial operation of the UAV, since we do not get paid for doing any of these flights (and neither would we want to ... it takes the fun out of it).
@turbancp what do you mean by "trying to return"? I can order a plane ticket right now and fly in the USA again. It's not on my list right now as there are new locations to fly at, though. The USA is not the only place where people can view great scenery using FPV.
@turbancp I think the chances of us having a meal together are incredibly slim. How about paying for the flight to find out? I've always wanted to fly in Alaska.

We have talked extensively with local regulators because our laws are very similar. it's actually quite simple: If you make money during the time of flight, you're commercial. If you make money off the footage, you're commercial. If you go on vacation and fly and post the videos online later, you're NOT commercial. discussion closed.

Sounds as if you have done some research on US laws, but I would be pretty worried about doing some of what you are getting away with. Particularly at the damn. I suspect homeland security would be pretty unhappy about things flying around there. Good luck!
@hindsight99 I liked it too! The wing is quite safe. It's foam, and has a pusher prop... so even if It lost all control and dove down and hit a person on the head, they would not be injured. There are some real dangers of collisions with commercial air traffic, and that's why these guys stay under commercial airspace.

There's a few guys around here that FPV up into the mountains, you should hook up with them next time your in Utah. Would love to see some FPV vids of some of the high mountain terrain. The videos of Slovenia remind me of some of mountains around here.
Excellent video with the best chase footage I have seen. High budget film makers will surely want to take advantage of this type of camera platform. Flying the way you do in "The Land of The Law Suit" is obviously very brave. Unless something goes horribly wrong, in which case it is obviously very stupid :-)! Matthew
@turbancp 'no operation of wireless devices' Is, I think, trying to get people from texting and driving at the same time. There were two people in the car, and the driver was not distracted. No laws were broken. Please look up autonomy it has nothing to do with the means of propulsion.
@mrprotein feel free to tell me the laws which we have broken ... don't forget to show the actual laws, the U.S. laws are very well organized and easy to cite.

@Toysrme One last thing. in the US you have a HOBBY and a BIZ. The US-GOV determines this by: businesslike manner (TBS website/sales/forum presence isB). Time and Effort (you clearly have devoted enough time to be a biz). Track record/Type of losses (N/A, not cit), Profit (any in a pattern), Operations (Do you work on it as a hobby or a job). US gov would simply find your youtube channel &TBS is NOT a hobby biz / presence. Disabling youtube ads does not mean you're inside of hobby status. :(
That video didn't do SL justice. It's way more colorful and beautiful. And what shitty day for the haze to come. You needed to head up the canyons and fly down the ski resorts. Shit man, I could have a huge list of places to go. Ways nice about SL is within 30min you have everything from forests, lakes, deserts, salt flats, mountains, anything you can think of
@mrprotein and just for the record, how about you show the actual law that I broke instead of referring to the whole collection of highway laws and just say "it's in there somewhere"?

@baldric450 you can adjust the fisheye on the new gopro. you have 3 settings, fisheye, medium and narrow. we used narrow on 1080p.

what fpv video system were you using to get through the car? just 5.8ghz? or did you bump down to 2.4 for the penetration?
