Arsenal's attacking was poor against Atalant, especially in our midfield, and our attack was toothless. However, we didn't lose the games, which is essential. Odegaard is a big miss in this team. Arteta must show trust in Nwaneri; there is no need not to give the lad a chance to play. What does Arteta have to lose if he gives this lad a chance to play? Nwaneri is Odegaard's deputy, and we can agree on that. There is no ideal time to use Nwaneri, I am afraid.

We have what should be easier fixtures to come and we need to bag the 3 points in those. Do you think Arteta could have played it any differently and got the 3 points against that? I would go for nearly the same team as you Charles, although I'd play Jesus on the left, Havertz centre and Saka on the right. Or start Sterling on the left...Sterling/Jesus, Martinelli and Trossard could come on as impact subs. In midfield I'd play Nwaneri in the Odegaard role. I think it's the ideal time to start him.
Having seen 20 mins of Calafiori I think he improves the team. How to get him in is the issue. I see it atm as three players competing for two full back positions. And being brutal I’d say that Timber at RB and Cala on the left is probably best. It seemed to me that Atalanta targeted Gabriel as the weakness on their press.

I would sub White, Gabriel, Rice, Trossard and Martinelli so they can hopefully be not too tired for sunday (If all those players start that is). The fact that one of the best players in the world competing for one of the most prestigious trophies against arguably the best team ever assembled(not fairly) under the best manager probably ever, got injured in a nothing international friendly just encompasses Arsenals luck. The season we needed Tierney and Tomi to be fit because of lack of depth there, they both stayed injured during the most crucial moments. Same with Partey and Saliba, and last season with Timber. Have you ever had ligament damage? Its often worse than a break, and can take months to heal - even with all their medical experts. Arteta is playing it down because he doesn't want to dampen the spirits of the fan base.
Basically every related article on Google says that the worst case scenario for ligament damage is usually 2 months if it doesn't require surgery (which seems to be the case) ... Btw that's not even contrary to what you said ("can take months to heal") ... Why should Arteta be downplaying the injury? Usually he tends to give rather pessimistic, cautious assessments because the fanbase will be after him if he says "its only weeks" and then it turns out to be months - THAT would truly dampen the spirits of the fan base, If he gives a too optimistic prognosis that doesn't turn out to be true ... My guess is that he will be back at the start of November - might be 1 or 2 weeks earlier or later than that, depending on the healing process
I done my ankle ligaments and was out for 6 weeks…Grade 1 Sprain: Slight stretching and some damage to the fibers (fibrils) of the ligament. Grade 2 Sprain: Partial tearing of the ligament. Inside Arsenal Extra time: Hope you do pick my comment this time.😂 Hello Charles, great content as always, I do believe our gaffer is stubborn when it comes to using academy players, you let ESR go, Viera too and now MO8 is injured, play Ethan give him a running in the game. Martinelli is at rock bottom in terms of form yet he still plays ahead of trossad. I actually don't blame some of the academy players for leaving cuz Mikel is not giving them a chance in the team. As for Jesus, OMG always trying to chop back inside or out for crying out loud, your target is the goal not some fancy tricks left and right. And if this is how we are going to be suffering in mikel's voice, it's going to be awful till our skipper returns. Play Ethan Play Ethan Play Ethan cuz when merino returns 😢
After watching Atalanta vs Arsenal.. Hi Charles, we know that you are fond of Arteta, and we respect him as well. But his attacking play tactics will be questioned, reasonably so. A title challenging team cannot go clueless in attack with ONE injury, how much ever important that player is. It was painful to see Arsenal on the ball. He better find a proper solution which hopefully doesn't involve "Jesus has fire in his belly" kinda bs.
People really need to get off the Nwaneri hype train. I get it. He's talented, but he's nowhere near ready to start or even play for more than 30mins. He'll earn his stripes if he performs in league cup games. People say our team lack CL experience, and this includes first team members, but they want Nwaneri to play in the CL. Go figure.
Patience is wearing very thin with Martinelli now. His lack of composure cost us 2 points. In a tight game like that where chances are at a premium, he’s had two big opportunities to score and failed both times. There’s a decision to be made with him if this awful form continues (and I’ve seen nothing to suggest it’ll turn round), next summer we should be going all out for Leao or Williams and selling Martinelli. Shame because a couple of seasons ago he was brilliant and he still works his socks off for the team out of possession…but his end product is just so bad right now.
Unpopular opinion, I think White has struggled in the last two games, probably due to the absence of Ødegaard. There’s often huge gaps between him and Saka (where Ødegaard usually drops in) little play goes down the right side atm. Raya immense, Saliba brilliant. Partey and Martinelli abysmal, Trossard poor. The rest were very average, Not brave enough with the ball.
Its true, Martin Ødegaard is such a unique footballer, but I can't help thinking what would've been if Arsenal had pushed to boat out and signed someone like Eberechi Eze
Very sad news, and unfortunately ligaments usually take a long time to heal. I would be surprised (but very happy) if we see him on the pitch this side of Christmas.
@@sapete1936 I think it has been confirmed by now that Arsenal think it might be "up to 8 weeks" ... Which is annoying for sure but it still could have been worse
@@Cengert1979 yes, it’s a real blow, but as you say, it could easily have been a lot worse. Hopefully we will see someone like Nwaneri step up and show some of his undoubted ability. 🤞
Timber sub White, Kiwior sub Gabriel, Partey sub Joginio, Trassard sub Jesus, Nwaree sub Saka, but we need to sub Havertz also. So maybe start Trassard and sub Harvertz in. Basically, those players need to play half the game: Saka Jesus, Harvertz, Joginio, White, Timber, Califiori, Gabriel, Trassard, Partey. 10 players, plus Kiwior and Nwaree, and we can only sub 5. Mmmmm, maybe we can rest Harvertz and Saka.
Extra Time: what does it say to you both that Nwaneri didn't get a minute against Atalanta? I was begging Arteta to put him on for Martinelli for the last 15 minutes (slide Havertz up and Trossard to the left).
A draw is not the worst result, will take the clean sheet and go again on Sunday against City. Raya - 10 White -6 Saliba -8 Timber -6 Partey -5 Rice -5 Havertz-7 Martinelli-4 Saka-4 Jesus-4 Subs Trossard-7 Sterling- 5 Cala-7 Julian.
Hopefully we have Jesus training in that attacking midfield position. Jesus always presses and does the little things, he just can't finish in the box.
Extra Time: What can you say after that poor performance? Does anyone other than Raya deserve a rating above a 6 or a 7? Passing was atrocious. Subs were not productive. It felt like a loss. Lots to improve on for Sunday at City. Disappointing.
I don’t like the composition of this team. This type of football is not sustainable long term. We refused to address the most important aspect of the game (goals) in the summer. I fear it will bite us. We have insufficient wingers for the work we are asking them to do. We don’t have goals from midfield and can’t create without Odegaard. Our attacks lack the natural instinct to kill and don’t have competition. Our defense can only do so much, as without goals we will drag their concentration a lot more and it might wear them out over time as the games pile up. Being able to finish games off early is a blessing as most of the team can be more relaxed and exert less energy. We did not address our needs in the summer.
I hope this isn't a career curtailing injury. Ankles and knees. So sad but annoying when you watched him left on far to long then off to international he shouldn't have been at. I worry the continual progress he has made will be stalled and maybe stopped. I hope not; that would be horrible. This season is secondary. We won't win tbe league or CL but top 4 and quarter min of CL sti very much on.
You really cant compare ankle injuries to knee injuries... Knee injuries are way more complicated and significant, ankles usually heal without any complications ...
This is a game we can afford to draw. I would take this opportunity to blood nwaneri. He is young, didnt play a lot of minutes and should be fresh. I know we only saw him for a cameo against Spurs, but I loved what I saw from him. He was cool under pressure and his first thought was get the ball forward. He made a couple of good forward passes that didnt work out, but if he got them right, Spurs could have been in a little trouble. We will need him to step up now the Odegard is out. This could be a great test for him. I hope Arteta is thinking like this. I suggest you go back and watch every touch Ethan had against Spurs. In fact, he also had an excellent block. Minutes played 4, Accurate passes 3/4 (75%), Touches 8 successful dribbles1/1 (100%), Passes into final third 1, Dispossessed 0, Tackles won0/0 (0%), Blocks 1, Clearances 1, Headed clearance 1, Defensive actions 2, Recoveries 1, Duels won 1, Ground duels won 1/1 (100%),
fully agree. Hope Ethan gets the start. It will be a pressure environment but not as a high as spurs or city away, and we can afford to draw or even lose this match and still very comfortably quality from the leauge phase, which is much more forgiving than the old format.
This is the only reason why kloop invented the gen gen pressing..he doesn't depend on a 10 or a player to dictate the press or the pace..but its ok..we will do well till Martin comes back

Arteta should have taken him off against Brighton much earlier instead of painkillers. He should then pulled out internationals but he got a knock in first. Not the same injury but its all connected. I could feel it coming
With this injury we have to criticize Edu , leaving ourselves short has cost us big things in the past and yet we've done it again this season , Edu has to get a lot of criticism for this
Critisize him on what basis? Squad depth? We just won one of the toughest away games of the season without 3 key midfielders and didn't have to use the two midfield youngers who are with the first time squad. Your comment is insane, we have a lot of a depth in midfield.
These international fixtures are killing the players. There were 3 casulties in the likes of Martin Odagaard, Calafiori, and Zinchenko during the latest international. I really dread these meaningless international fixtures for the players. The sense of humour from the Norwegian head coach after Martin Odagaard's ankle injury was extremely insulting. It just epitomises an individual attending a wake and passing negative remarks about the deceased.
Cope??!?!?!? Cope ?!?!?!?! Here's a thought - how about not leaving yourself short 🤔 might be thinking outside the box, buuuut...a club finishing 2nd challenging for title instead of showing ambition leaves themselves short with a £5M net spending transfer window...when is everyone gonna wake up and get the kronke's outta this club ???
Defensively Odegaard is useless so I don't think it will be catastrophic without him. Of course he's a key player but top teams figure out a way to continue to move forward when soldiers are down

Play Ethan
Play Ethan
Play Ethan cuz when merino returns 😢
Go figure.
Ethan gotta step up. Hopefully he can shine
This is why our transfer window was a mess
Patience is wearing very thin with Martinelli now. His lack of composure cost us 2 points. In a tight game like that where chances are at a premium, he’s had two big opportunities to score and failed both times. There’s a decision to be made with him if this awful form continues (and I’ve seen nothing to suggest it’ll turn round), next summer we should be going all out for Leao or Williams and selling Martinelli. Shame because a couple of seasons ago he was brilliant and he still works his socks off for the team out of possession…but his end product is just so bad right now.
Charles, international fan here. Your content is the bollocks. Absolutely top shelf. .
International fan yet you use such UK specific expressions, how come? :o
The expectations on Nwaneri are completely unrealistic. Give the kid some time.
Why are we so fearful of using Nwaneri?
We're not
Raheem will have his first start in Arsenal colors,Martineli will be on the bench and rested for the City game.
Morning Charles
I feel that Havertz can fill in at the right 8. Use Jesus and Trossard up front
Havertz is better as a 10. Put Nwaneri in the 8 if you want to try something different
This reminds me when Viera left arsenal and Fabrigas took the opportunity to shine
Its true, Martin Ødegaard is such a unique footballer, but I can't help thinking what would've been if Arsenal had pushed to boat out and signed someone like Eberechi Eze
If only we hadn't sold Smith-Rowe 😢
Very sad news, and unfortunately ligaments usually take a long time to heal. I would be surprised (but very happy) if we see him on the pitch this side of Christmas.
I think that's too pessimistic ... 2 months recovery time is usually the worst case scenario for these kinds of injuries
@@Cengert1979 I sincerely hope that you are right! 👍
Basically, those players need to play half the game:
Saka Jesus, Harvertz, Joginio, White, Timber, Califiori, Gabriel, Trassard, Partey.
There is no injury crisis lol, haverts best position is right attacking mid(where ode plays) if he gets injured then it’s a crisis.
Earliest we see odegaard is mid November
It has to be Jesus in the Odegaard role.
A draw is not the worst result, will take the clean sheet and go again on Sunday against City.
Raya - 10
White -6
Saliba -8
Timber -6
Partey -5
Rice -5
Havertz-7
Martinelli-4
Saka-4
Jesus-4
Subs
Trossard-7
Sterling- 5
Cala-7
Julian.
Gabriel?
Hopefully we have Jesus training in that attacking midfield position. Jesus always presses and does the little things, he just can't finish in the box.
No Charles Sterling needs game time before City he needs to play
Extra Time:
What can you say after that poor performance?
Arsenal paying the price for their own hubris in the transfer market? Well I never...
Saka in for Odegaard, put Sterling on right wing.
Charles the name you could not pronounce is pronounced as (Lah-ng-ah) Langa
It’s from South Africa 🇿🇦
🥱
As long as Partey and Timber are rested it’s all good we know Saka won’t ever get a rest so let’s not even pretend he’ll get dropped.
We don't know that because we've got Sterling now
It will be 6 weeks Odegaard is out.
This is the only reason why kloop invented the gen gen pressing..he doesn't depend on a 10 or a player to dictate the press or the pace..but its ok..we will do well till Martin comes back
Who's the Langer ...🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
You start 11 was totaly off😉
Charles so playing that unnecessary useless Int is now probaly going to cost us lge this year it pisses me off sick of int breaks sid be playing players on fringes to assess them, to many games wat wiv clown refs. As u say just cant replace him he glues it all together so this news is just bad and totally avoidable hope it costs Norways FA a packet wiv his wages now.
Arteta should have taken him off against Brighton much earlier instead of painkillers. He should then pulled out internationals but he got a knock in first. Not the same injury but its all connected. I could feel it coming
@@virupakshawalla5734 so agree wiv u bet u feel same im pissed off wiv internationals i dont even watch um waist of time.
High Wattage
Where's the ⚡⚡⚡? Poor effort
From the headline I wasn't sure if it was a straight up 'blow' or an 'injury blow'. What he does in his private life is of no interest to me
I am saying the same 11 starting ÷ Partey, Rice in for him.
Players like Odegaard, Saka, Saliba, Raya are hard to replace in this Arsenal side whenever we are to find oursevles without them
My team for tonight's game
Neto
White
Kivor
Saliba
Calofori
Rice
Havertz
Ethan
Saka
Jesus
Sterling
My team Raya white saliba gabriel calafori, jorginho rice nwanieri, sterling jesus havertz
With this injury we have to criticize Edu , leaving ourselves short has cost us big things in the past and yet we've done it again this season , Edu has to get a lot of criticism for this
Or criticise nobody?
Critisize him on what basis? Squad depth? We just won one of the toughest away games of the season without 3 key midfielders and didn't have to use the two midfield youngers who are with the first time squad. Your comment is insane, we have a lot of a depth in midfield.
VERY WELL SAID
Odegaard is irreplaceable, its bad luck, it wasn't Edu who kicked him and injured him ffs
@@ZaineKnight the guy agreeing writes in all caps imagine my shock
We must ban all our players playing friendly games for their country. International football it's so boring anyway.
Arteta is such a pathological liar when it comes on to injuries of our players and always playing games, we knew odegaard was out for months 🙄🙄🙄🙄
Of course he's a key player but top teams figure out a way to continue to move forward when soldiers are down
1st Champs league game and you choose to do your other show, which many of your subscribers have no interest in (Stats don't lie on the 2 blokes opining show. Simply yawn).
Will propose again, for the benefit of your subscribers, referring to your viewing stats, when uploading your ticks or benge editions which do not appeal to all - Will you also upload an episode of the Inside Arsenal daily show - which does appeal to all. (Kerching, more shows / hits - everyone benefits).
Thanks for content.
...you're literally commenting on his daily show...I'm so confused...
edit: out of curiosity, I checked the video stats to verify your claims. the last video with James has around 33k views, which is more than most of the dailies that Charles has put out since then. add in the fact that longer videos have more ad breaks, and therefore make more money, Inside Arsenal ET is a success.
Still think the transfer window was above average? Pffft... fail to prepare, prepare to fail
and the failure was not getting replacements for ESR or Vieira. It's a TOTAL fkk up
If we drop the points that city did last season without KDB, they will pull away. There's no chance we will come back to eclipse them
Absolutely. I'm all for optimism but let's not deny what we're up against. You simply can't afford to lose games. One or two max to stand any realistic chance of winning the league.
