  • The Blue Mountains are so beautiful! For this part of the day, we went to the Wentworth Falls. We had fun capturing the absolute beauty of the greenery, the red rocks, and the waterfalls. It has a very well-cared-for trail that was fun for the kids. We loved walking over the falls and seeing them cascade off the side. As we continued along the cliffs, we discovered some springs and lush areas of greenery. When we came to the overlook of the entire valley, it was absolutely gorgeous. Looking back at the falls, we took some pretty amazing pictures and videos. It was a fun and adventurous part of our day at the Blue Mountains. Stay tuned for our third and final video of the beautiful Blue Mountains!

When walking in Aussie bush suggest you stay close together as is quite easy to get seperated and loose track in some places. I am enjoying following your travels and views on areas etc.

I used to live in Katoomba, 15 minutes walk from Echo Point, it was a magical place to live. My daughter & I loved bushwalking & our favourite day out was heading to Leura Cascades for a picnic, half an hour's easy walk from our place then.

If you can find the time, an outstanding trip is to drive to McMahon's Lookout, which is about 20 km south from the highway. A dirt road but in pretty good condition - you can maintain a pretty steady 40 to 50 kph. The view is amazing - to the west is the back of Mt Solitary, which is the large mountain you see from Echo Point and past that across the ranges towards Jenolan Caves. Opposite you are tall sandstone cliffs and southwards are more ranges. If you look straight down, you can see the headwaters of Warragamba Dam, the major source for Sydney's water supply system.
But the best is on the way out, where you can stop at Battleship Tops. An enormous cave with ancient paintings made by the First People for whom this cave holds great significance. Sadly, some louts stole a car, pushed it into the cave and set fire to it. Smoke has damaged about half the paintings, but a lot remains. Those responsible received decent sentences. We find the cave very moving.

theyre called the Blue Mountains because of the eucalyptus oil haze in the air and the way sunlight interacts with it 👍 (Wikipedia has a more in-depth clarification)

I wonder how it is going to feel going back to the US after a year travelling without the fear of weapons at every turn.
I have travelled to the U S many times over the last few decades.
Every time I notice the progression away from what the rest of the world considers normal.
One such visit was just 18 months after the other.
I t was a world trip we went to fifteen countries but it was only in the US that we started to fear for our safety.
Eighteen months before that we went fromSydney to LA. We were prepared for the change I guess and were immediately on full alert.
But after a wonderful time exploring many different cultures and forms of government it was a real scary thing to leave Denmark and land in New York.
Although I must say that N Y C is a place where I have always felt safe.
But states in the south were very challenging.
We felt quite unsafe just going to the mall or even to church.
It was a relief to go to South American countries where we again felt quite safe.
I wonder if you will notice the difference after so long away.
    In the meantime travel safe.
