Steven I am watching you painting the River Cole in Stechford. You have a different way of starting your panting. There is very little sky but a big tree with small dark ones in front and on left hand side with their reflections. The sky pale blue reflects beautifully on river. There is a dark land and a foreground with dark and pastel colors which give a lovely contrast with the river. On the right hand side is drawn a long dark tree with small and very pretty leaves which add lot of beauty. Many grasses on foreground. Beautiful painting Steven and I thank you for this new lesson and very interesting teachings and demos.
Hi Steven, I'm pretty new to watercolours but love your video's. Gona try something like this soon. Thanks for the great little tips in between as well.
Hi Steven, i'm really love your paintings.. i just getting started to water colour painting, &(maybe) i learn a lot from you.. i hope you keep posting a video demo more.. sorry for my bad english..
questo filmato mi ha fatto conoscere lo stile Cronin, il primo, poi ho visto tutti i tuoi filmati ed ancora adesso lo vado a rivedere perché mi ha aperto nuovi orizzonti. grazie Steven
Hi Mr.Steven. I like your style of working-quick, effective and amazing. You inspire me to draw-although I am not a painter. You are a good example to say that: In order to create an amazing work, it is not important to have hundreds of brushes and lots of color boxes. Try to give much more effective impressions using a few colors and just a couple of brushes. Take care master :) and amaze us with new masterpieces please.
Hi Steven, I don't know what it is with this painting...but I really like it....I must have watched you paint it half a dozen times lol....it looks just like my local River Cray....I'll give it a try next week.....thanks for your brilliant demos...hope you do a lot more. All the best, Keith
There is not much sky in your painting Steven but you draw a big dark tree in middle of this scene with small ones on its right hand side. There are a few hills on left hand side and some small short lines after hills with reflections. There is not much sky but the few pastel colors reflect beautifully on sea. A land of various colors with grasses and rocks is on right hand side and form a foreground where is a dark long tree with tiny dark leaves. I thank you Steven for this lovely scene with great teachings and very instructive demos.
Hi Steve, i am a fan of your style. Its unique and very effective. I use fabriano 300 gsm 9*12 papers generally. However whenever i wash the paper with clean water initially, it dries up too fast and i dont get the desired effect. How do you do that? How does the paper stay wet for that long in your paintings? I use a cheap flat synthetic brush.
Rituraj Borah I think you've answered your own question when you say you use a cheap brush. The Ron Ranson hake holds lots of water and wets the paper thoroughly before I start to paint. I then have enough time to get the sky in before it dries. Try the same brush I use and see how it differs. I bought it on eBay.
Steven, would you like to explain me why you always draw trees on the horizon line, on the side or both, but never on the foreground ? Thank you for answering.
+Mireille Romain there are some paintings where I have trees in the foreground. It just depends what suits the composition. I guess too many trees in the foreground would block the view

As you say, we don't need lots of materials and equipment to make our art. I've only ever used 3 brushes and 7 colours and tried to master just those. I wish you well with your artwork. Thanks for watching and best of luck.
