@shaunkeating9288 if you watch the you know kevin should've won by any rule set in mma history. Both are legends and if was a good fight don't cry defending a robbery over two decades old it's not a hill to die on
There’s nothing better than when you guys weave the storylines and lore of global promotions especially in the early 2000s. Great work Alex telling it - and fantastic stuff I assume Luke piecing it all together with the visuals & edit. Made a pretty complex series of moving parts easy to follow and strong piece of evergreen content. My only addition is I’d consider Alistair as p4p 2010 as he’s, to my knowledge, the only combat athlete to hold 3 world level belts at the same time (K1, Dream, and strikeforce) after Anderson lost 4 1/2 rounds to chael who of course it turns out wouldn’t have mattered given he was cheating. Overeem then beat both a soon to be as well as a former UFC champion in Lesnar and Werdum back to back in 2012 which is where it gets interesting. Arriving in the ufc it’s hard to call the non champion p4p best but imo Alistair beats Cain in 2012 no problems. That’s why I love these kinds of debates. Fantastic work!
Alistairs another from the older gens of mma guys like hendo that are actually very under appreciated when people are going through the great over the years dude was an obsolete beast in his own sport and another at the same time and fought everyone and everywhere for 20+ years dude put in some work over the years
Well said I agree, that stage where Overeem beat Badr Hari, Brock Lesnar to JDS I thought he was unstoppable I won 700 when he beat JDS even tho that was my dad fav fighter I just had a feeling Overeem would have his number.
I just blindly clicked "PLAY", without noticing the run time. About a half hour in, I thought, "Whoa, I'm getting some time in on this one....AN HOUR!? HECK YES!!!" 😂
If we take off people who used, the video would be 15 minutes long because we'd have to cut out virtually every fighter from the early days of UFC and Pride
@smitty7326 yea but the other fighters doing roids, don't pop drug tests cause they aren't as dumb as Jones. Jones was stripped from his title multiple times for bad drug tests, that means he lost at least 2 of his fights, not the goat.
So, basically, the only times the hands down 2 best fighters in the world fought were in the very early days and then Amanda vs Cyborg, and Islam vs Volk.
"fedor wasnt tested by mark hunt or mark coleman" uhh... did you not hear the announcers freaking out when Hunt slapped on that Americana twice? thankfully americana isnt that high of a submission rate, but gdamn
Wanderlei Silva vs Mark Hunt is the best fight in PRIDE's history that is never talked about enough. Also...Silva should have won that if they followed PRIDE's judging criteria and adjusted their scoring for the massive weight advantage Hunt had.
This is great content! Your long format videos always knock it out of the park! Always engaging and well researched. I feel like some of your work at the channel will be used in posterior for research and documentation.
unc couldnt catch a break as of late. injuries, got his house burned, hammer died, he got burn injuries, and his stubbornness of training despite being days after surgery. i hope he gets well and better, and be joyous. he is a legit hero and an inspiration for those in recovery.
Gotta say when Fedor went down, that was the most surprising. Partially because of his decade long win streak, and partially due to the fact that he didn’t fight in the UFC, so I couldn’t really see anyone dethroning him.
It's a really good video, very informative and something I'd make all new mma fans watch. Learning the history of mma and watching as much fights as I could for a couple of years before ufc 73 the 1st live event I watched on TV is probably 1 of the best things I could do because I became an encyclopaedia for a couple of years
Yeees mmaop finally back in the long form content game! I currently have to save up videos weeks out then hit the "watch all unwatched videos" to get a decent length. Can't stop folding laundry/washing dishes/etc every 20min to change videos 😅

So glad to be a fan in this time. Everyone has a camera, so Danas fake champ just keeps getting exposed as a coward. TMZ isn't the only one reporting on MMA anymore...Alex has Dwarfed Jon's 10 year in 2!! #Chama
Could be bias from me but definitely for me Leon dethroning Usman. Usman genuinely seemed to be invincible and was going to definitely tie and then beat Anderson Silva's record. Also, after a tough round one, he was dominating Leon. Then that perfect head kick ended it all, never been so shocked in my life.
I was soooo pissed during the Gracie v Kimo fight when Gracie started grabbing Kimo's hair to keep him in the guard. In the end, Gracie won, but i cheered when he couldn't continue the next fight b/c he was too beat up
I’ve never seen any pre-Zuffa UFC events, so finding out what a horrendous performance Gracie put on in his draw with Shamrock was pretty wild to discover. I’m surprised that didn’t tarnish his reputation in real time.
Jon Jones has an asterisk next to his pound for pound rankings. He’s a known cheater, and I’m sure a lot of other fighters take roids, but he got caught. He doesn’t deserve to be mentioned as the best or in any conversation about GOAT talk
There’s a lot to debate here, so I’m going to be very specific in my wording when I say that I feel like Demetrious Johnson has accumulated a great enough body of work without any asterisks next to his name that he can rightfully be called the greatest competitive martial artist of all time.
I wish you would've kept including the Asian promotions, but I do realize how big of a lift this was and I do appreciate what you did. I just need to do some more research on my own 😅
I have a few questions about pronunciations in this video? If "schedule" is pronounced "shedsule" in the UK? Is the place we go to learn called "Shool"? And is it really Alexander Gus staff sen? Mostly just joking. But also serious if he was joking or not with the Gus thing. Because isn't Bayliun pronunced by the man himself with the same sound Gustaffson should be (or at least is by most people I have heard)? Cool video by the way!
it took me a second to process that title, thought it was gonna be about Jones hiding from Usada.
You’re wrong for that 💀🤣 imagine an hour long video of just Jon Jones avoiding drug tests 😭😭
Good one 🤣
Iirc, they do have a video chronicling all of JJ's fuck ups, so you're not too far off
🤣
Took me a minute but yeah, that title works for that too 😂 if they they had ALL the details could be 2 parts.
I just realized how underrated and underappreciated bas rutten really is
