    🔥I've made my own motorized curtain for my green screen with Bluetooth control. It works with an Arduino, HC05 module and stepper motor. The case is 3D printed and easy to assamble. Get the Android App, code and scheamtic from below!

    Congrats on 400 bro
    Edit: You might change buttons logic so the curtain extends/retrieves to its extent considering you have their positions stored.
    So we don't need to hold the button for the whole 20 seconds.

    I really enjoyed this project Andrei. From time to time in an Arduino group I see people searching for motorized curtains. I imagine this could be adapted to controlling curtains of different sizes. You did a fantastic job! For some reason the video description that shows up for me is the coin selector you did previously. Maybe it's just a TH-cam glitch?
    Thanks for sharing!

    This is actually discouraging to me. I have an electrical engineering degree and haven’t been doing much with arduino. I’m overwhelmed by it. I have so many ideas they have already been done and it is so easy for you and many to just successfully complete them. I always thought the struggle payed off but I find that no order to conquer and master and get my own projects going with more and more minimal help I’m going to need to just copy exactly what you and others who make this look easy do. It’s bittersweet being overwhelmed by the projects and having someone solve it and copy their work.

    Nice project. I have been experimenting with automating my blinds myself. I wonder why you didn't use a motor with gears that would allow you to disconnect the motor from the power supply. A good reduction ratio or even a worm gear would've been enough to hold the curtains in place without the coils being energized

  • @razredge68
    @razredge68 ปีที่แล้ว

    This is amazing. Maybe swap the arduino and bluetooth module with an esp32 so it could be controlled over WiFi. Then have it listen for api calls from either a stream deck or similar device. This might be overkill but using nylon lock nuts would reduce the chances or anything coming loose overtime.

    I wonder if it could be made smaller
    also I am waiting on some ESP-01's from aliexpress for another project , to add wifi to my roomba by using a code to make it emulate a belkin wemo , I wonder if you could use the arduino to make 2 presets for the stepper motor , figure out how many turns to raise it and how many turns to lower it and then have one pin for triggering each setting , and then connect the esp-01 output trigger pins to those input trigger pins , so you can have one press up and one press down and control it with Alexa/Google home , I am not sure if the code I am going to use supports emulating 2 separate belkin wemo devices or if it can be added so that it can emulate 2 devices and use 2 pins though
    maybe it could be set up in an arduino sketch so that turning on = shade up and turning off = shade down
    for the stepper
    the project for the ESP-01 and the roomba is called "Roomba voice control with Alexa and Belkin-Wemo emulator"

    Interesting project. Isn't stepper motor enough here? Do you still need the gear? Also, if you are using Arduino Nano, can't you just use software stepper driver instead of physical one? Nano has plenty of memory for that.

    • @anonyme9140
      @anonyme9140 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Why not use a worm gear to make it not backdrivable and you can unplug the power supply.

    • @electricalychalanged4911
      @electricalychalanged4911 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends. If you want to keep the motor at a certain position you need to engange the motor to use the holding torque. In this case this is especially important as the second wood pole is alwys drawing downward. But you can use some gear mechnism, friction or a solonoid to get around this. Still the Arduino and the blue tooth always drawing power. Wouldn't it be nice to have an ESP32 in deep sleep, that checks evere 10s or so of the user wants to activate the motor mechanism via the app.that than activates the power? It is a bit complicated but overall it should save a lot of power.

    • @eberger02
      @eberger02 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@electricalychalanged4911 I have a Tuya Wifi blind (I anticipate selling the house with this one in place) that is battery powered. Haven’t opened it up as there is no obvious way, but the wifi module is separate. I assume the wifi module and blind module talk using a proprietary low energy protocol. That is how I imagine they solved that part of the power problem. Not sure how the motor works but it has upper and lower limits (even if no blind is attached) and the speed is so constant it can’t be a simple motor. At the very least there is a speed feedback loop and a timer.
