  • In this video I show you a close up look of the Vector Off-Road JKE mounting system with the 67 Designs clamps and iphone mount. This combination is what I believe to be one of the best setups for mounting all your interior accessories like your phone, gps, HAM radio, cameras, spod displays and more.

I am really excited about todays install because I have seen this same system in a buddies Jeep and I have been wanting to do the same thing ever since!
Today, I am installing the Vector Off-Road JKE mount using 67 Designs clamps designed specifically for this system.
Now I’ve got several things in my Jeep that I am constantly using on the trail. My iphone, Magellean TRX7 for both on and off road use, a HAM radio, CB, and camera gear. To have something that I can secure all those things has been something I’ve wanted to do for a while.
No I have been using 67 designs double ball mount for my phone and gps for a while and absolutely love it. In fact I will say this, their phone mount is the best one out there. I have tried 2 other phone mounts before this one and hated them. I’ve been using this one for about 3 months and I’m telling you this is the only one I’m going to use…. Simple one hand use, and very secure.
This vector JKE mount is a very simple install and requires no cutting up your dash, mounts right up to 3 existing points on the dash and should only take us a couple minutes to get it in there. It’s high strength, but doesn’t weigh very much and has a nice textured powder coating on it.
Then I’ll be attaching these 1” clamps to it and then attach my phone and gps up to those. And then going forward can mount my other gear and keep thing very organized. I actually am not a fan of suction cups on the window, so this is a great solution.
This is going to give me a lot of flexibility on where I want to mount stuff.
    Let’s get this mounted up!

TrailRecon no worries! It’s a process! It’s a process! I’m still learning. Getting back into it myself. Sometimes it’s a simple error/glitch during rendering in fcpx. I learned to always edit with headphones. Helps catch audio levels Or missing channels. You’re doing great!

Great video as usual. I have a roll bar across my dash, but if I didn't the vector bar would be the route I'd take. 67D just came out with a nice 1.75" roll bar mount so now I can easily tie into that. (one of my most recent videos, actually.). Anyway... Looks great!

What's the rules on the use of this on roads. Their site states this is solely for off road use only, so does that mean a ticket if they spot your phone mounted to it on the highway? or that they are just not responsible if it impales someone on the road.

I got frustrated with my suction mounts falling off the windshield, especially on hot days. Saw this device on YT and ordered the shorter mid-width passenger side bar. I have no mechanical skills but can follow directions and I can attest that I had no problem with this install and really like it for my 2016 2-door JK. I usually carry mount garmin handheld gps devices, one In-reach device, and an actioncam for recording. All fit well and look good. Your video confirms the wisdom of purchasing this device. Great, sharp, video as usual, sound not an issue, and your JEEP looked fantastic behind you at the end of the video.

I've had the Vector bar for quite some time in the @VagabondExpedition Jeep along with RAM mounting systems for gopros, tablets, nav devices and cell phones. It works great. Tip: If you get some rattling out of the bar with your devices mounted like you have, get a small strip of foam rubber/weather stripping type material and place it in the center tray where that bottom support piece fits along the front of the tray section (closest to the driver/passengers - you can see the section at 03:45). Just a tiny 0.5" length will work.

Just wanted to throw in a huge thanks on this video on the Vector Offroad dash mounting bar. That is hands down one of the best accessories I've added in a long time. Unbelievable flexibility for positioning all my equipment... GPS, cell phone, and the head unit for my ham radio. I'm experimenting with various mounting accessories, including the 67 Designs stuff. They are quite popular and it's led to some backorders. But I'd tell people that if you want to just try various mounting options out for any of your equipment, from cell phones, GPS units, handheld radios, tablets, whatever... to Google for "handlebar" mounts that work with their device. These are typically always 1" mounts that work great with the Vector tube size.

I completely agree with you regarding the 67 Design mount/system. I have the mag mount and recently purchased the universal mount that you have, as the mag mount isn't strong enough to keep the phone from flying off when off-roading. I am considering the Vector system down the road for mounting an iPad and Go Pro in addition to my iPhone X. I might not go with the full width version though. Nice video!

Not sure I like this setup. The idea sure is great - if a Jeep had larger windows. I always find that the Wrangler has a very limited field of view and dead spots the size of a semi truck, so I try to avoid anything taking up space in the window area. I have a phone mount about where the 12V outlet is and that works just nicely (although intruding a bit into the legroom of the passenger). Now I'm thinking about mounting a 8" tablet. My thought it I'll probably 3D print me a clamp that screws on the left screw of the handle bar above the glovebox so I can attach a mount there.

Brad ... another great vid ... thanks. At ~:46 seconds into the vid you show your phone and Magellan units mounted without the Vector bar. Which 67 Designs mount were you using for the Magellan?

How's the visibly? Especially when finding your line over rocks. From the video looks like I'll lose a lot of that?

Thanks for putting this video together, looks great. I would like to install this but I have the stock pop-up tweeters on top of my dash (2013 JK). Would these interfere with the ends of the bar?

Have you ever considered replacing the stereo system? Alpine I209? X209?

Hey Brad - Great video! I have a '17 JK and want to install this, but I have upgraded my radio and the screw under the rubber insert is no longer useable. Do you think this would be unstable using only the 2 mounts near the windshield?

I know that you are fastidious with your Jeep, so the question is...does it impede much for the cleaning of the dash and windshield? How about the view?
    Thanks

I use the stubby Vector mount. I guess it wasn't very popular since they don't make it any longer. You're right about being able to mount items where needed. It really cleans up the inside of the jeep. No rattling around, very secure. Good job.

What size carbon arms did you use? I want to mount my Traildash2 on my Vector bar, but not sure what length arm to use. The ones you have seem to be the perfect length. Thanks for all your helpful videos.

Love the videos Brad! Just discovered this product, looks awesome. Any issues with loss of visibility? Doesnt take away too much windshield does it?

Another item on my wish list. My Rubicon upgrades have been put on the back burner because of another project that is totally exciting. Hope to start putting up some vids on this next year.

Can you still use the storage, the one just above the radio?

    • @TrailRecon
      @TrailRecon  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yes, but you have the center metal mount section that dips down in there.

Yes, you can still use the storage bin. To prevent the rattling of coins or in my case sun glasses, fashion a piece of felt or non-slip shelf liner to fit into the tray and around the metal mount section.

I use mob armor switch and switch pro for my phone and mobx for my tablet. If you use ipads they have specific systems for those too.

All the items needed are out of stock, placed an order so we will see how fast it ships. Love the design and mount options for this bar. It is something that can grow with our experience off roading.
