    Originally this technique called 鎌手詰 however never done while standing.

    Can you twist the hand outwards aswel as downwards?

      You could if you want to create more pain but don't lose the lock of the wrist-elbow-shoulder. Those three joints are locked so there should be sufficient pain or threat of pain to make the person comply. However, I guess it really depends on the situation and the grip you end up getting as that person fights to free themselves. We do what we can with what we have. Thanks for watching!
