    It's simple man.
    You have the best metal tone on the entire TH-cam, not only for this demo of course, but the way you pick, your downstroke, the ability to mix the tracks and the entire production are simply amazing.
    Every single video sounds killer.
    Thank you!!

    Great to see a true old school metal head without the tunnel vision of most HM-2 users who think this pedal only sounds good with all dials maxed and only good for Swedish death metal. The HM-2 existed for years before the Swedish death metal scene, and some of us are old 80's thrashers who go back to those days when the HM-2 was the start for many metal guitarists at a time when everyone played in standard E or E flat tuning and the HM-2 was good for raw old school 80's metal like Hellhammer, Venom, early Slayer, etc. Also great is your tone is EXACTLY the type of tone I aim for with my HM-2, standard tuning or close, & a tighter sounding thrashing / chugging tone with plenty of HM-2 rawness still there. I've not tried the Fortin Grind to boost the HM-2, but gotten similar tones with a Tubescreamer or Maxon OD808X. Your tone and video rule man, a return to the days of the HM-2's beginnings. 🤘

  • @Ghaos
    @Ghaos 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thanks for using the HM-2 in a sane manner. Sounds killer as always, never understood why people loved making this pedal "sound bad" when it has such a cool tone when used sanely.

  • @Nightbreed82
    @Nightbreed82 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    SICK!! I use the HM-2 in a similar way. Rarely do I put all the knobs at 10, but that's of course a classic tone. I usually use it as a boost with the gain set low into a dirty amp or pedal (usually Marshall style). It injects the perfect amount of HM-2 buzzsaw goodness. I've also been experimenting recently with boosting the HM-2, similar to this video, except I've been using a Laney TI Boost. Also, the H knob is magic...12:00 to 3:00 is perfect range for Doom Metal tones and can easily replace a doomy fuzz. 3:00 on the H knob is when the Swedish Death tone starts to take over and there are several flavors of chainsaw tone within that quarter turn of the pot.
    This channel is incredible btw, been watching it for years. Your demos convinced me to by a Tight Metal Pro and the Two Notes Wall of Sound plugin, two of my most used pieces of gear.

    • @killertone
      @killertone  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Agree. The H knob is by far the biggest contributor to the chainsaw tone. I'm just a tiny bit above 3:00 in this demo. Like maybe 3:10 haha!

    • @georgesaris9968
      @georgesaris9968 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Great to see someone else who uses the good old HM-2 for tones / settings other than the all too common all dials maxed Swedish death tone (classic tone yes, but too many people think that is all the HM-2 is good for) ... also cool to read that you also use the HM-2 as a boost for other amp / pedal distortion, I'm a big fan of that myself. Great comments bro 🤘

    I bought one frome a kid in the neighborhood back in 1989. It's never been back in its box since then.
    I didn't play it for about 5 years and then put it back on my board using a 12v power supply. I thought I loved my Dracarys, but I hate to say that the HM-2 is badass with the treble down at about 10 o'clock and the bass at 2 o'oclock.
    If I had to choose between the Dracarys and HM-2, I could toss the Dracarys over the back fence in a heartbeat.

    Best tone on TH-cam, hands down...if I could dial my Mark v 35 like that I’d never stop playing.
    What are your thoughts on modern multi effect amp modeling pedal boards like Line six?

      Thanks a lot! I really have no experience with those things. I've just never had the opportunity to check them out.

      No worries. What's your main live (non computer) amp these days? My mark V 35 (boosted with a TS) is the closest I've ever come to the tone I chase in my head.

    would this work kinda similar with the tc eyemaster? (don't see any reason why it wouldn't but asking did never hurt anyone i guess :) ) this tone is rock solid.

    I wish the mz2 got a little more love... pretty sure it's the hm2 board with a double and a few other effects..I love mine.
