I know he is just way too much into it 😀But still I have to ask: how did he know this was Bartosz? Just the good casting? Because I only understood this end of season 3 myself! 😀
In episode 1 Ulrich says "the apocalypse is upon us" because the lines at the bakery are long. Aleksander says "everything here will come to an end here soon", which is obviously about the power plant, but obviously also about the apocalypse. There are other instances. The slogan 'No Future' also comes to mind. Etc etc
Dark is such a special, special series! I feel like I've been waiting most of my life for a series like this to come along!! It's a pleasure watching with you :)
That over the shoulder shot of Stranger Jonas with his beard hidden sold it for me. I never payed attention to it until you pointed it out. Picking up new things each time.
The way Jonas52 just morphs into Jonas19, and Jonas19 morphs into Jonas52 is absolutely insane! Everytime I watch it still makes me go "HOW???" It's completely next level shit. Dark has raised the bar so high It may be a very long time before we see anyone else rise to the occasion!
It might be very hard to rise to their occasion, too. Maybe that's going to be their best show, because the nature of the story really shows off their writing.
He hasn't seen anything as far as casting yet. Their casting dept should have won every award in the book. Critics praise The Crown for its casting, Dark blows it right out of the water, imo.
In regards to the calendar - it's actually just an error. They did a reshoot later, so the 21st is crossed off in the latest version. Though I remember it was a major talking point when the episode was released. People had similar ideas as you, some had the alternate timeline theory, some thought it represented that the loop isn't completely closed and can have some deviation. Turns out it was just a production error lol
@MasterOnion North Yeah, the only problem with this is that it kind of breaks the idea of "everything is happening now" that the show utilizes. The idea that future and past is relative. The loop isn't really a "loop" in the sense that characters aren't being reborn. They talk about "the next cycle" often, but there should only be one cycle, they just have an illusion of multiple cycles because they are interacting with themselves at different points in time. But it's just one tangled sequence of events. How would the timeline even be recursive? Like, at what point does it "restart"? Because we never see this. Every character and object has a beginning and end-point, the problem is that these beginnings and endings influence each other, but notice that only information ever gets bootstrapped. Jonas is born, grows up, and dies. His actions cause his birth, but he still has a death. Jonas never gets to experience a "new" cycle because a new cycle doesn't exist. Theoretically. I've seen some people try to reconcile the discrepancies in S3E7 with this by arguing that the montage took place in different timelines.
I immediately watch 75% of everything you upload. Man I'm seriously considering to start watching the Doctor Who show as well so i can check out your reactions.
I very much enjoy watching your reaction to DARK. Love seeing your excitement, attention for details and listening to your well thought out theories. A perfect match for this series.
My sister, who actually got me into Dark, didn't even make the connection you did about the characters in the intro! She forgot about it, and when I was like, "that was Bartosz and Noah killed him" she was like 😶 lol
Season 2 let's gooooo! The disquiet of the post-apocalyptic world is captured so well. I watched some videos posted by the actual owner of the Kahnwald house, and iirc a lot of the demolished, overgrown look on the house exterior was done practically, so the house had to go through a considerable amount of damage 😅 It has been renovated slightly at present, particularly the roof, but the owner did a smart thing where he offered individual roof tiles for sale, the OG Kahnwald house roof tiles, with unique number plates, neatly boxed with a certificate of authenticity! I'm not sure if you can still buy them but I was both impressed and amused by the idea. A great collector's item for Dark fans if you ask me 😂 Some additional observation on the Kahnwalds if you're interested: Notice the date, it's June 21 (across all timelines), and idk if many people remember, but it's the day Michael hung himself. In 2053, Jonas wakes up, and the first thing he does is look at his father's letter again, because he knows what date it is, and later, he visits the graveyard and places the family photo there. It's basically all he has left to offer, in this post apocalyptic world. For Hannah in 2020, it has been exactly one year, and she has the additional pain of her son's disappearance besides her husband's death...aaand let's not forget that Ulrich is missing as well. I think after eight months of disappearance, she has very little hope left of getting either of them back, which partially might've been why she was ready to shoot herself later in the episode. Yes, we all know what she's like, but like you said, I agree that her redeeming qualities center around her love for her son, and she was clearly hurting. It wasn't great to see her at such a low point in life. And I also think Stranger Jonas chose to return home on that day because he might have felt that it was best to reunite with his mum as she had been alone for too long and it was a particular day she shouldn't have to face alone - it's his mum, after all. He probably was in Winden for those few months trying to make up his mind on what to do after he failed to destroy the wormhole, and I'm glad he was back, just in the nick of time really. Brilliant acting by both Maja Schöne and Andreas Pietschmann in the scene when they reunited.
If Hannah is personality disordered, as in narcissism, it would make sense that she feels suicidal when she has nobody left who could reflect her importance back to her. However, I think Jantje wrote her character from observing such traits and not a clinical understanding of that disorder. Which is why her character is slightly contradictory. Understandably, though. She is an artist not a doctor. And Bo and Jantje are human after all. Lol
@@connectingthedots100 Could you elaborate on the contradiction if possible without discussing stuff that hasn't been seen in the reaction series so far? What did you see and what perspective are you coming from?
Well she would not be able to really care about Jonas. Unless she could use him to maintain grandiose delusions about herself which all narcissists need like the air to breathe. "Love" for a narcissist would be "oh he is great, because he is like me". If they convey love there is a whole lot of acting and overdoing involved, because they don't feel it. But obviously there is more to come.
@@connectingthedots100 I think Hannah displays all of these characteristics. I found it difficult to believe she really loves Jonas, except as a mirror for herself. She just never seems to love anyone else ! All her thoughts and decisions come from her own desires and emotions .
It is the toughest show I have ever edited, it’s excruciating to some how edit it down to 10 minutes. There is just so much packed into an episode, and everything feels so important as well. So it comes down to picking one important scene over another important scene. Lol long story short, Dark Full Length is the best time to be a Patron.

You can drill down just so far. I read a post from someone who lives in the area of filming who complained that the leaves weren't right for the time of year in the show. hehe.
Back in season 1 he said he didn't want to watch the intro because of spoilers since it contains footage from the show. I remember I left a comment about why I thought it was alright for him to watch them without really being spoiled. I don't know why he changed his mind but happily he seems to have done so.

It's also the perfect show for someone with an analytical mind like yours, because everything from the beginning to the end matters on some level.
21:45 I mean... let me quote from episode one: "Die Frage ist nicht wie. Die Frage ist wann." You might know how the things turn out but throughout the show you learn when they happened. And only after that you can ponder the question if anything could have gone differently. And than again after that you can try understand why the things go differently or not. And how everything is connected.
22:35 Well and now you are applying the causal determinism to the show that should still be under debate. The way Noah explained it in the season one finale, both sides are actively upholding the causal chain of events. Claudia presumably does not want to change anything while Sic Mundus seemingly does so in an effort to change the timeline in their favor. I mean... I can totally see why one should assume that Noah doesn't know s**t about how this works. Just saying you should still try to figure out if your assumption is correct.
How did you recognize Bartosz? :-D I could not! I know you can be prepared for anything and anyone in a show about time travelling, but they show you this ripped guy with a full on tattoo in 1921 and you go: "Yep, it's Bartosz". REALLY??? You are way too good for the show to make these connections yourself, it is supposed to be a future reveal/surprise.
