  • The Icefields Parkway is 144 miles of PURE BEAUTY. If you're visiting Banff National Park, this is a scenic drive you absolutely can't miss! The Icefields parkway is not just a scenic drive. There are plenty of things to do in Banff and Jasper National Parks on this drive including hikes, kayaking, visiting glaciers, waterfalls, and canyons to name a few!
    In this video, we show you where to stay and make 10 UNBELIEVABLE STOPS along the Icefields Parkway. Get ready to see the bluest lakes, misty waterfalls and icy glaciers. This video is one of our favorites! If you are planning a Canadian Rocky Mountain Road Trip, we hope you consider the stops we made in Part 1 and 2 of this series.
    Before we get into it, there’s one thing we should clarify: Banff National Park is massive. The whole national park takes several hours to drive through point to point and it is broken up into 3 different sections: Banff/Banff town, Lake Louise, and the Icefields Parkway. It takes at least 45 minutes to get from Banff Town to lake Louise Village if you don’t make any stops along the way (you definitely should!)
    Canada's Rocky Mountain National Parks:
    - Banff National Park
    - Kootenay National Park
    - Yoho National Park
    - Jasper National Park
    We visited the lower portion of Banff, Yoho and Kootenay National Parks in Part 1 of the Canadian Rocky Mountain Roadtrip Series: • Banff is cool BUT THIS...
    We visited a different section of the Canadian Rockies in this video which included Waterton NP: • Crossing into 🇨🇦 Canad...

Amazing views and picture perfect. There is even a recently renovated campground right across the road from the trail head. One of our family favourite spots.

    • @Meghanandmatt
      @Meghanandmatt  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks Ron! Yeah we carry bear spray and an air horn. I’m not sure if you’re visiting from the US but you can’t cross the border with pepper spray but bear spray is allowed last I checked.
      We went in early June and there were crowds at the really popular places but the places we went in this video were way less crowded and still beautiful.
      I’d suggest make any reservations/campsites/hotels well in advance and try to start any popular hikes by/before 7am to beat the crowds. Banff town was cool but kind of a touristy place for sure. I wish we had more time to explore Jasper but the whole icefields parkway is absolutely incredible and worth stopping at every stop. When you start the drive make sure to grab the parkway guide from the rangers
      This whole area is 10/10 and we can’t wait to go back. Have a great trip!

    #sigh Thanks for your videos but Banff/Jasper was a disappointment in The Canadian "Rocky Mountains" vlog. (FYI" The ROCKIES are MOUNTAINS) Your visual and narrative attention and focus seemed to be on lakes and trees. First of all, Canada has almost 700,000 lakes representing more than the rest of the world combined. Lakes? yawn. As for trees, Canada ranks third in hectares and the US and Canada combined rank second in hectares. (Russia is numero uno.) Trees? yawn. I live in Toronto but as executive director with Fairmont (head office Toronto) - Banff Springs, Chateau Lake Louise and Jasper Park Lodge - and have been fortunate to have visited the area dozens of times in my duties. The lakes and trees are nice but the mountain vistas are SPECTACULAR. Lakes and trees are merely ancillary additions supporting and framing the pièce étoile. (I have nothing whatsoever against lakes and trees.) Just sayin'.
