You can call me a baby for this but seeing Coach Smith walk out on to that field with his family and take it all in with the light snowfall and snow covered field brought tears to my eyes. What a year those guys went through last year and to flip the page, finally, is truly a blessing. Welcome home, coach.
Can’t say enough about how exciting this is to me. I’ve lived in Oregon for 3 decades and this man just has “it”. And I love the entire family’s excitement here. They’re going to love the culture and passion at MSU. It’s a professional and friendly and sincere environment. Can’t wait for the MSU-Oregon game already! 👍
Good Hire . Very Good HC , Oregon State tough place to Win consistently . He turned it around there - he Runs a great Offense .he is very creative offensively . Go MSU .
Fantastic fit given all the circumstances. I love Coach Smith's energy and he seems very authentic. Looking forward to seeing what the team looks like on the field over the next few years
Read up on what? He spent the last weeks of the season lying to the press, lying to the fans, and lying to the University about the future of the Beavers, and on Saturday morning after a loss of the one game we need to win every year… because he poisoned the team with his inside information killing morale didn’t coach for s..t because everyone thought he was a traitor. And then fleeing town. We lost three games this year that we should have won. Probably because he was doing his extensive search rather than what he should have been doing, his f’ing job. So I should feel better about it because he did an extensive search? That makes it so much better. I have never cheered for Oregon in all of my life, but now I will cheer for them and Michigan to smash your team every year.
Oregon state actually just finished a huge investment in facility upgrades. Expanded their stadium and fixed facilities for sports. But it's nothing like what msu has.
Go watch him play against USC and Notre Dame his final year. What a transition. His skills were better than those who followed and went pro. I always new he'd succeed. But I didn't think he'd leave. Sad day for the Beavers.
“No Egos”. “Team sport”. “Family and Community”. It all sounds good. I’m just wondering how that all works in this age of NIL, when you have to pay a QB $2million+ just to keep him on campus, and parents who think their son is worth a 7-figure NIL payout, but you won’t even start him. 🤔
From an Oregon State alum, I have never seen Smith this nervous in the past six years at OSU. It just seems odd. As a biologist who has created habitats across North America, I'd watch Smith's family over the next couple years. It is not easy to go from a setting that is sandwiched between the beautiful oceans and mountains of Oregon over to the flats of the midwest. It has had a negative influence on my mental state when I have had to work in very flat areas even for a couple weeks. If the family isn't happy, the coach will be unsettled. Smith has already proved he will always be looking for more money.
You liars are just coming out of the woodwork lol. Apparently your majesty has never "created a habitat" (what a load of bullshit) in Michigan because if you had, you would be very well aware that the state of Michigan is in fact, not flat at all, and we have thousands of lakes. So many rolling hills, and "sandwhiched" between some of the biggest lakes in the world that might as well be oceans lol.
Bad call. Nothing to do with football in the Midwest. He's already succeeded. It's your jealousy of his contract. Obviously you don't know Smith or football.
Get ready to go 6 and 6 MSU!!! You will find he can;t recruit and develop a QB. Blind luck DJU showed up. Inhertited Jake Luton and developed no one else.
Umm... Took over a team that went 1-11 the year before he was hired. Keep in mind Mark Dantonio was 18-17 at Cincinnati and he is the best coach at Michigan St in my lifetime.
Oregon State fan here and…well, enjoy him while you can. When greener pastures present themselves you can expect him to be gone like a shot. Could he turn things around at MSU? It’s possible. He did it for the Beavs and I do have some gratitude for that but the way he left really hangs a big asterisk on his legacy IMO. Anyway, enjoy it, but don’t be surprised if he screws you a few years down the road.
If he does leave for greener pastures down the road, that means he did good things here, I'll take that. Just gotta go find the next guy then. Best of luck to Oregon State in the future, the college football lands ape is crazy now.
The way he left? As in being one of two of the last men standing, in a two team conferance that was sadly sold out downriver by a shill of a pac 12 commisioner..oh yeah thats a bad look lol.
As a Beaver alumni and fan you hired a solid HC. He is a good human being and will not embarass MSU. Don't expect dramatic results. People forget the OSU program was top 25 consistently before Mike Riley left. He follwed a 3 year sh-t show named Anderson at OSU who ran the OSU program into the ground. Not a great recruiter, doesn't develop QB's and not particulatly Innovative on offesnse Craig Bray came in as D-Coordinator and saved his job. You should be consisttenly 6-6 to 8-4. Not bad but not in the playoffs. He will not pull the California and Hawian players he was able to pull to Oregon.
I'm glad to hear it. It's been a rough couple of years, since Dantonio left, tucker was absolutely terrible, and Harlon Barnett was put in a bad situation. 6-6 to 8-4 is a better improvement that 5-7 and 4-8.
Never underestimate a winner. They beat the ducks last year. They win even when people expect them to lose. As a quartback, he took his team of his final year and beat up Notre Dame. He knows what he's doing. He's climbing the ladder with most of the stack intact.
LOL WTF are you talking about? They're smiling almost the whole time. Even if you're right. I didn't like moving to Michigan from Florida when I was 15 but I got adjusted pretty fast.
I like his attitude, I hope this works out for Michigan State
Lube up

Well said
Yeah, you're a baby lmao
He seems a passionate man of character. Let’s hope he’s up to the task hand. Good luck Johnathon Smith!
Well done video. Enjoyed it and listening to Coach Smith and watching his reactions to different places and situations.
Hope they cleaned that desk well, reaaaaaaally well.

Much better spoken than Mel for sure
That’s not saying much. Conn man was a walking line of mantras with no substance.

LET'S GO COACH SMITH!! 💚🤍💚
Wish coach smith nothing but the best! Good hire.
There won't be any drama coming from him. Good solid hire. Msu needed it.

Digging his character too
He's not authentic.
Low ego high output
Guarantee his "high output" is 7th in the B1G at best his whole career.
@@FondledByDiddy Walk into traffic fuck boy.
I liked “Selfless” 🤮
If you only read up on the coaching search and how well he conducted it you might be qualified to speak, but that would require you to read.

Awesome video! Go Green!
If he can persuade either Dante Moore or Bryce Underwood to come to EL then we really are cooking w ⛽️
Championships to come!!
As a Michigan fan. Great hire.
Love this! Welcome Coach Smith!!! Go Green!!
The look on his face looking at real facilities says it all
Oregon state actually just finished a huge investment in facility upgrades. Expanded their stadium and fixed facilities for sports.
But it's nothing like what msu has.
Won't matter. Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State and the newcomers will wax him every year.
😂
@@FondledByDiddy Always the idiotic haters like you coming to our videos just running your cock holsters.
The facilities shown in the video look virtually identical to what's at Oregon State. Literally just different colors
Illini here.....TERRIFIC HIRE!!!!!
I wish him the best I'm 4th generation Oregonian my kids 5th generation and grandkids 6th generation good luck.
Awesome video!
Seems like a good hire - I just wish he looked more like a football coach than an accountant 🙂

Michigan is anything but flat with 2x the coastline of Oregon. You're thinking of Illinois, Ohio, Iowa etc..
