As someone who LOVES poppyseed, I can't believe I didn't notice them missing in Korea! What!? I just assumed I didn't see them because the kinds of bagels I'm used to are rare in general but omg!

Actually i can't find it here in Philippines too. I read that its illegal because of drug related (?) ..but you know why i'm interested with that? A family-in-law baked lemon poppyseed cake and it was so good! Really! And i research how to make it but with one of the important ingredients, you can't bake it😪
Hey Sarah and Kyuho, based on the look of your previous videos, I recommend using the Standard picture profile on the M50 and tweaking the saturation and contrast to your liking. For focusing with you two talking to each other, I recommend using one of you as a sit-in and manually focusing on their face (turn off Servo AF). Also, I don't know if you're recording in 4k or 1080p; but most Canon cameras typically have a very soft look in 1080p mode so I recommend recording in 4k and downscaling to 1080p.
Thank you so much for these tips-specifically the focus tip! We found that the face tracking didn’t work great when there were two of us in the shot, so we’ll give MF a try with someone as a sit-in first.

I'm from California and poppy seed anything can be found easily in markets or in food. Love poppy seed salad dressing especially in the summertime. It's a light dressing and goes well with spinach, strawberries and almonds.
Never knew that about poppy seeds. It's so commonly used here in the Netherlands. I really need to try and make that lemon preserves, it looks delicious

I just love how you edit these videos...Beemo looking kinda gloomy, that shot of the rain pouring against the window with the cool music in the background and then Kyuho with the umbrella walking down the street...it creates such a unique atmosphere. I feel bad for saying that cause you guys mentioned at the end that you didn't like that cinematic vibe but I thought it was so soothing. Also I am really shocked about the poppy seeds as well. We have them here as a base of several desserts, pastries and even sprinkle them on bread so I find it weird that it's illegal anywhere in the world. I can guarantee it does not get you high even if you eat a large amount, like the pasties which have poppy seed filling that calls for like 3 bags of poppy seeds. I don't mind the rain and I actually prefer it when it isn't too hot, but I did miss the sunshine. I don't actually even need sunshine, as long as it isn't grey for days without end, really. Luckily the weather turned around and we've been having sunshine for almost a week now and the temperature is up to 26° (at least in the Southwest where I live). It's really helpful, since I have a tonne of laundry to do, including bedsheets and stuff, so I'm glad I can utilise my balcony for that again.

when you mentioned that you couldn't find poppy seeds in your last video, I figured it was an opium related prohibition but didn't think much of it. I don't think we eat a lot of poppy seeds in my country though. you can definitely find pastries or breads with poppy seeds on them but I feel it's not like a hot sought-after item... idk... I've been loving the weather! I'm from Texas and having the weather change with the season is so much nicer than sun 365 days out of the year. I think I have the opposite seasonal syndrome to most people who live in rainy and snowy areas.
Happy Sunday to you both! I sooooo wish that you could package up, and send some of that rain to Southern California…..I’m dying to try my Vessi’s out in the rain. 🥰 We are in triple digits and suffering from a major drought, so rain is much needed out here. Isn’t it crazy, how we (in the US), take poppy seeds for granted? Yes, yes, about not eating them prior to a drug test. Something that we just never think about. I’m sorry that you’re both not looking forward to the cold weather. The fall/winter months are my favorite time of year. It will be Labor Day for us, tomorrow. I know it’s early, but I’ll be decorating the house with my fall decor, later on this evening. As always, thank you both for sharing your week with us! The lemon/lemonade recipe looked so delicious and refreshing, as did your amazing dinner with the delicious side dishes! May I ask, was that grilled mackerel? Please take care and have a great week.
Been hearing it’s super dry on the west coast :( Really hope you’ll be able to get some rain and try out those Vessis soon! 🌧 Isn’t it so funny about poppy seeds?? I’ve been eating them on/in so many things my whole life and never gave it a second thought 😅 I actually asked Kyuho what fish that was, and he said ‘I don’t know, I just know what they look like’ 😂
@@2hearts1seoul …..I hope so too. Thank you! My Vessi’s are my “go-to,” walking shoes, as they are soooooo light! I LOVE them! I just want to be like a kid again, and splash through puddles. LOL! You know, the next time I see poppy seeds, I’ll be thinking of you both. ☺️ I love Kyuho’s response to the fish question. Looking forward to next Sundays’ vlog! Have a great week!
I actually liked the clip of you guys having dinner. The lighting created a nice vibe to it. And i guess the end clip is a bit too saturated? Its getting warmer here in melbourne aus, so its time to start making the lemon preserves! I did this last summer and it was soo good!!! Thanks for the reminder, and keep up the great work!
Shooting in Cinestyle is liked by many because it allows the editor to colour correct the way they want the video to look like! That’s why it looks really flat and unless you are going for that flat look, you’ll definitely need to edit the footages in post. For Canon I think the standard profile is probably the best for you guys since it still keeps the contrast and saturation, plus you can still tweak the individual settings within to suit your liking! The downside would be that in low light without bumping the ISO too high and making the image noisy, the footage might be too dark. Having a low f/aperture number makes it brighter by allowing more light to enter but that also mean that you’re more likely to be out of focus easily~ (buttttt also that will give you the “blurry background” look or bokehs from lights) it’ll take lots of testing out to find what suits your style but I’m sure you guys will find a way!!! All the best :>
Thank you sooo much for the advice! 🙏♥️ Yeah, I always color grade in FCPX, but damn…that Cinestyle footage was so flat and really hard to work with. We definitely need to practice using a lower f/aperture number when we’re both in the shot-that was definitely a challenge 🥲
@@2hearts1seoul I agree it’s really difficult, not to mention super time consuming!!! Oh maybe you can also test out what is the maximum ISO you are comfortable using while practicing! Then at least you can use that to brighten up a bit if you don’t wanna make the f/number really small~ one way I can think of for both of you to be in focus with a low f/number is for both of you to be of more or less equal distance from the camera, like your sofa talks/dining table eating shots!
I like the lemon making part. I think the soft tone for that part makes the lemons pop out. But I agree that some parts the color contrast was either too warm or flat
Any video with Beemo in it is wonderful, this was a new level! 😸 Your editing is just stellar. I love the cuts, even making a recipe a plot point. It’s a pleasure to know you - even knowing we will never meet y’all in this life. (Maybe we were great friends in the last one!)
That was my first thought when you said you were not able to find poppyseed in Korea - it’s illegal. My Dad suffered from panic attacks during his last visit to the Philippines. I asked if CBD was available as a temporary treatment until he got home to the US. I learned marijuana and all related products are illegal there. I hope more research can be done in Asian countries as poppyseed and CBD is widely used in other countries around the world. Big hugs to all from California!
Wow, we also use poppyseed in baking so that is a shock to know that they are illegal in South Korea. I loooove me some lemon & poppyseed friands, they really are missing out on something yummy. And now I want some. The discussion about drug testing reminded me of that episode of Seinfeld ... soooo funny. If you haven't seen it, you gotta watch it.
Poppy is also heavily restricted in India and the cultivation is strictly monitored by the government because of opium use as a drug. India has long history of opium addicition and there are many laws regarding it.
@@2hearts1seoul very true, i was curious about it in the previous video and then realized i have never tasted it because it pretty much banned/restricted in many states of India, leggally only 3 states are allowed to cultivate poppy which further requires the argricultural dept of those 3 states to issue licenses to only few farmers. Ironically, about 10-15% of poppy is imported from other countires for oil extraction and medical purposes.
The best surprise today, getting back from work and remembering its Sunday so there's a new video from you guys 😊😊😊One of the highlights of my week ngl
Happy Early Birthday Sarah! I hope the rain subsides soon. It was cold and rainy all summer until August where I live. Then, it felt extremely tropical for August, like I was back in Seoul with July monsoon weather. xD I'm so glad it's cooled off a little bit. Autumn is my fav~~~ season. :)
@2hearts1seoul, Sarah and Kyuho, I am so glad you made this video to explain about poppy seeds in South Korea! I was going to buy you a bag of poppyseeds to send over as a gift from Australia 😬
I live in Hungary and poppy seeds are famous here as well. There is poppy seed pasta, many many bakery goods, like half vanilla-half poppy seed rolls etc. Christmas roll with a thick layer of poppy seed, as well. And yeah, my boyfriend is from Japan and he was freaked out sometimes. :D
I feel like the seasons all over the world have shifted forward by a month or so. Where I live the weather patterns for the seasons seem to occur one season ahead of what they used to so I would say for the last bit of my life it's been a little strange to get used to. Lol. When you said that though wasn't much rain and monsoon season and then it started raining when you said the monsoon season was over I kind of nodded my head and said same type of thing here. Lol.
I grew up in Uzbekistan. I remember my grandmother pulling out the poppies when she heard that police are raiding the houses to look for poppies. They were basically like weeds, they would sometimes just grew on their own, no need to plant them. My grandma used to preserve the husks and boil them when someone from family had really bad colds. But actually rarely used them, I remember she gave that tea to my brother when he had pertussis as a teenager and couldn't sleep at all. Uzbekistan has quite strict laws about drugs, except poppy seeds. Imagine my shock from legal marijuana after I moved to Canada! It is absolutely illegal in Uzbekistan, but here people just casually smoke it even at bus stops! I still can't stand the smell, it is annoying that literally any bus often smells like marijuana in Vancouver or Victoria.
Happy Birthday, Sarah! My uncle once took a drug test for a US government security clearance and failed it because he ate a poppyseed bagel! 😹 Sooo, he got a re-do, and I learned from him to not eat poppyseed anything before any job interviews, lol.
My aunt used to make poppy seed noodles with butter. I loved them. I used to also drive a bus as an activity director for senior citizens and take them on trips. I never ate an "everything" (onion, sesame seeds, poppy seeds) bagel during the week because of the chance of the false positive on drug tests. They gave random drug tests to us drivers every so often, and I didn't want to chance it. I discussed this with the drug tester and he laughed and said I would have to eat a massive dose of poppy seeds for it to register in my system. That's interesting that they are illegal in Korea! I bet some day that will change.
Yes! It's starting to cool down and my thoughts are turning to soups, hearty stews, etc. It's foggy this morning, as I sit with my genmaicha tea 🍵 and watch this video
With the Canon M50, generally, the standard profile is the pretty good if you don't want to mess around in post afterwards. Cinestyle which is a more flat style, has the advantage that you keep more details in situations where there is big range of brightness or exposure (for example, you're filming inside which is generally darker but you have a window in the background and it's daytime. You can, in post, bring down the highlights and increase the shadows to gain more details in both highlights, which is outdoors, and shadows, which is the indoor part). FYI, iPhone 7 and later, was kinda doing that for you automatically. Afterwards, I'm getting the feeling that you prefer a look that has more saturation than what you showed. Make sure that your Mac's True Tone display is turned off when doing this as it adjust the white balance based on the ambient light in your room at the moment you're editing. You can turn this off in System preference then Display. I personally prefer using the colour wheel in Final Cut to adjust this. Lastly about the focus: even if you have an f1.4 lens, you don't have to shoot at 1.4 meaning you can stop down to like 2.8 to give yourself a little more room to be in focus + both of you should be on the same focal plane (meaning at equal distance from the lens).
@@2hearts1seoul Sorry, i'm a bit of a tech and camera geek, and love to share knowledge around. via VLC media player, i borrow the parts where you said you didn't like the picture profile and add a bit more contrast and saturation (don't look at the sharpness since the video capture from VLC is only 720p, just look at the colours). th-cam.com/video/rbOjCKtfafs/w-d-xo.html Hope this will give some idea and/or inspiration. The video is unlisted and will be delete after I hear that you've seen it.
I wish I had time to use Skillshare. I have a small YT channel where I'm documenting my Korean learning journey. I haven't gotten on a schedule for filming and there's so much I don't know how to do... like captioning (that's something I really want to learn so I can put in Korean and English captions). Thank you, though, for introducing Skillshare so I know it's out there for when I can put some time into their classes. By the way, the poppy seed discussion was interesting. Sarah, you are correct, poppy seeds are common in the US as well as Canada. Poppy seeds on bagels is super common! And yes, never eat poppy seeds before a drug test.... it can give a false positive. (I love poppy seeds, but omg... when they get stuck between my teeth!).
I really like the quality of this camera although it's shocking to see how well it can compete with the iPhones quality. It was actually after your videos that I decided to switch to iphone as well for my video and photography work. Yet in my opinion the color are very soothing to look at ! 🌼💗
13:34 Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey! Thats the perfect Sunday night movie haha.... Sorry irrelevant comment! LOL

Advanced happy birthday to Sarah! 🎉 Your struggle with the camera settings will be worth it! Just be patient. 😉
Happy Sunday with you guyyss ☺️☺️
It is also illegal in Singapore LOL. Decades ago, poppy seed bakes were also available but I havent seen any for quite some time now....
oh my goodness the camera quality!!! the vlogs feel like a mini-movie now, love it!!!
Ohh, thank you 🥺♥️
Good to know.
Love the new camera!
Isn’t it so funny about poppy seeds?? I’ve been eating them on/in so many things my whole life and never gave it a second thought 😅
I actually asked Kyuho what fish that was, and he said ‘I don’t know, I just know what they look like’ 😂
@@2hearts1seoul …..I hope so too.
Yay! Was just checking out your IG page to find out when the vlog will go live😂
Haha, thanks for waiting! 😁
Yeah, I always color grade in FCPX, but damn…that Cinestyle footage was so flat and really hard to work with.
Every time my dog Juno presses against me when I watch you I love it. Thank you!
We literally have Mohnbrötchen („poppy seed rolls“) in Germany. They have always been my fave kind of rolls. 😋
Kids eat poppy seed buns just as often as cinnamon buns here in Europe. I'm quite surprised that Koreans are so shocked by it 😬
Yup! I grew up seeing and eating them on tons of stuff as well 😅
Poppy seeds are very common in Spain two, we use it for baker
and salads.
Omg I learned something new today!
I first ate poppy seed desserts in Vienna😋
Have a good week! ❤
We have poppyseeds muffins and bagels here in Hong Kong as well! Very common :)
Ooohhh! Did not know this! They seem to be so hard to find in other East Asian countries!
For how much longer though, in light of political climate?
Any video with Beemo in it is wonderful, this was a new level! 😸 Your editing is just stellar. I love the cuts, even making a recipe a plot point. It’s a pleasure to know you - even knowing we will never meet y’all in this life. (Maybe we were great friends in the last one!)
Thank you so much 🥺♥️
That was my first thought when you said you were not able to find poppyseed in Korea - it’s illegal.
Yeah, I miss poppyseed everything here sooo much 🥲 Hahaha, that Seinfeld moment is legendary!!
Poppy is also heavily restricted in India and the cultivation is strictly monitored by the government because of opium use as a drug. India has long history of opium addicition and there are many laws regarding it.
So interesting how it can differ SO much by country 😮
@@2hearts1seoul very true, i was curious about it in the previous video and then realized i have never tasted it because it pretty much banned/restricted in many states of India, leggally only 3 states are allowed to cultivate poppy which further requires the argricultural dept of those 3 states to issue licenses to only few farmers. Ironically, about 10-15% of poppy is imported from other countires for oil extraction and medical purposes.
The best surprise today, getting back from work and remembering its Sunday so there's a new video from you guys 😊😊😊One of the highlights of my week ngl
So intresting to hear about cultural diffrences. Love to hear more about things that are illegal in Korea.
Hi Sarah i love that t-shirt ofthe movie "Dirty Dancing"😍😍ireally love this movie
Thank you!! I love that movie 🥰
Wow lovin' the shots of the food hehe the new lens truly makes a difference! :) it looks so so appetizing! ^^
@2hearts1seoul, Sarah and Kyuho, I am so glad you made this video to explain about poppy seeds in South Korea! I was going to buy you a bag of poppyseeds to send over as a gift from Australia 😬
Your brand new camera lens really made this vlog more aesthetic ❤️ so love it!
They are used in Japanese shichimi spice mix though :)
I love poppyseed bread (from the UK)
The new camera quality!!! 😍😍😍😍👏 it looks really good you guys ✨
I did went jaw dropped when u mentioned poppy seeds in ur previous video 😆😆😆
Thanks a MILLION for taking the time to write out all these tips-we so appreciate it!! 🙏 Screen caping this!

Hope this will give some idea and/or inspiration.
We need some of that rain over here in Hawaii! We've been in a long dry season haha
13:34 Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey! Thats the perfect Sunday night movie haha.... My fav scene is Baby walking into the town house in the evening at the beginning of the show when she told her family she's just going for a walk. That scene was beautiful in the evening. Sorry irrelevant comment! LOL
Such a classic! I’ve been trying so hard to convince Kyuho to watch it with me, but he always refuses 🥲
@@2hearts1seoul haha! Guess this genre doesn't appeal much to him :)
In Ukraine a lot of desserts are made with poppy seeds and nuts especially around Xmas and Easter.
I bought poppy seed twists today at Safeway.
Poppy seed is also widely used in eastern europe but my sister lives in Spain and they do not sell it there. Confusing😅 and thank you for the lovely video as always💖 and best of luck with the camera settings💪🥰
Aww Beemo looking extra cute in the video. I will definitely try this lemon drink recipe thing. The amount of sugar though! 😅 And yay to Virgo babies! I’m Sep 10th! 🎂 Ugh. Another year older. And ugh what a year it has been.
Lots of sugar 💦 But thankfully they last a while and you only need a very small amount at a time 😊 And yeeeaaah 😩 I can’t believe this is my second birthday during the pandemic…where does the time go.
The new Lens is doing wonders 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I also went to make a lemon poppy seed loaf a couple of months ago, it now makes sense why I couldn't find the poppy seeds here in China haha! I'll have to try the alternative of blueberries like you!
