I swear, you have a knack with uploading videos on topics and activities that I'm already planning for. Just last week I had come to the conclusion that I'd be traveling from Oregon as far south as LA to do some hiking as a vacation this summer. Bookmarking this video! Thanks!

Awesome video. There is sooo much to do in LA and I think everyone always forgets about the trails! The Griffith observatory is so cool. I like visiting LA and I am so glad I live in a place with so many beautiful hiking trails. Thanks for sharing! Cool channel! Following!

I hiked around Griffith Park after visiting the Observatory there in 2018. Some pretty steep hills but great exercise and views.

Start at Silverlake reservoir and take Cove St. to Baxter St. to Elysian Park and back down Park Row Dr. and Cassandra St.....trust me, you'll feel it! Rewards = Best city views!

Alot of staircases in the Silver Lake neighborhood. But SL of L.A. is so congested these days. When they first started building tract homes in the area, they didn't plan for as many cars as there are these days. Now, just driving down some streets with parked cars on both sides can be a challenge. I was born and raised there.

I think all those that you just mentioned in this episode would be a great idea for people in the LA area if the museums or attractions are still in shut-down mode, Griffith Park and the train that Navin R Johnson rode on in The Jerk is a must see for me. Probably would be worth exploring Franklin Canyon & Topanga Canyon if a person has more time.

  • @gumerzambrano

Josh, when I heard you say that Griffith Park has hundreds of miles of trails I was going to correct you. Technically, it's 70 miles on their park information pamphlet, but those are wide service road and horse trails. Lately I've been discovering many unmarked side trails thanks to alltrails and google maps(look for narrow trail lines). Most of these trails are very narrow, steep and challenging, but some of them follow spectacular ridgelines. So, if you include these then the total trail mileage would easily be close to 200 miles.

I’ve heard that there are a couple of clothes optional hiking trails up in the mountains, but that sounds uncomfortable to me, I mean what if you stumble and fall into a patch of poison oak/ ivy or walk into a swarm of biting gnats, I’ll def stick to wearing clothes when I hike, but to each their own.
