Hello from Canada Juliet! Good luck and have fun! Whenever I see you riding it always encourages me to get out on my bike. Thank you for the video and motivation, you are awesome!! I always enjoy coming along on your rides. Keep the videos coming please :)
Isn't she awesome! she's a beauty - Juliet is not bad either So I'm in Quebec and if u want to share which are your favorite trails drop me a few hints or check my all trails I'm doc-julien
Very nice setup! . The only thing I can add is to change your eating habits slightly. In zone 2 you will last much longer adding more protein instead of sugar all the time to your system. One simple trick is to add protein to your drink in 1/4 ratio. And your bars as well should contain protein. It burns much slower. Learned this in Ironman racing which is a zone 2 thing too Btw: Let us know how the TT went!
Thanks for the tip, my coach told me to stick with the carbs on this one tho so I’m prioritising that. But there will be some protein in some of the foods I take along
Your excited ! I'm super excited ! 😃 wise choice with the weather and great kit selection ! Can't wait to see how u get on , u got what it takes ! 💪 ! Best of luck 👍👍🙂
Juliet! First off, nothing but good luck and tidings to you! I’m not sure if this big ride that you are attempting in less than 24 hours can be accompanied by music but if you can bring a form of music to play with you during this journey AND it is feasible, since A. You are not gonna sleep and B. You’ve mentioned you like metal music, I think it is ONLY appropriate to listen to the band, SLEEP! Fantastic stuff and it themes with your lack of sleep on this ride/race!!! Anyway....rambling now.....enjoy it! Have SO MUCH fun!!!
Love your upbeat vids(and Dave's too). Make me miss my UK cycling days! I see UK Covid infections are going thru' the roof again! Stay safe! (My family live in Bristol and Swanage and I worry about them too). Everyone's carrying on like nutters down here in Oz but at least our infection rates have been very low by comparison. Stay vigilant. PS: Love your trick Marin. Still best looking gravel bike I've seen with those colours and Zipp wheels.
You should make a vlog switching out your cassette and readjusting the shifter. I was thinking about doing this but it seems a tad complicated for a novice biker.
Hi Juliet, love your videos. Quick question. You've mentioned your coach in the video. We forget sometimes that you are a professional rider, could you run us through your training program, and support crew (other than/including the lovely Dave). Good luck with the race.
Hi, I’m not a pro cyclist, rather I make my living out of cycling and TH-cam but it’s not the same. I’m coached by Train Sharp, I can certainly share more info but my training changes all the time. Perhaps I could make a video about it?
Yikes! Any time I put apparatus atop of my helmet, a branch takes it sooner than later.. Sometimes branches just plain bonk my helmet. I bet you can do a smidgen of zone 3 on a climb because that's the way it is and the descent is zone 0. I'd suggest reducing solids and increasing gels and liquids as the ride progresses. Maybe check into that thing where combining glucose and fructose gets your body to assimilate about 50% more sugars (unless you a low carb person of course).
Great choice with the GPS a fully featured little bugger that one imho 👍 I'm personally more of a fan of the Hope R8 over the Exposure lights. The form factor and battery life is better imho, The Hope R8 Eight LED's create a really wide field of light which I like... Be interested to know your thoughts on the exposure though Good luck with the event though 👍
Autumn 200k cambrian mountains, you will need luck on your side, you have great kit, lights etc, nutrition nailed eat every 45 mins and drink drink drink. Rest if you need to also will there be a live tracker we can follow?
Hi Juliet. Loving your videos and have benefited from a lot of your advice, so thanks 👍 I've yet to find a decent sleeping mat. Which Therm-a-rest mat are you using and would you recommend it? Many thanks, Ben
125 miles. If it were me, I would put everything in a seat bag and backpack and do what you're attempting - do it without sleeping. Just plan on taking some rest and feeding after the difficult bits. Good luck and I/we can't wait for the results.
@@mintsauce563 Well, no she did not. She is using multiple bags whereas I indicated ONE seat bag and A backpack, that's it. As for the rest, more or less she and I are on the same page. Not sure why you commented - what's the point you're trying to make?
if I were going to try and take on a 24 hour ride, I'd move some of my training rides to after dinner. I don't know though. What are you doing to prepare for riding against your body's desire to rest?
I'm curious about who you have attached the light to your helmet. Also, I switched from one big handlebar light to two smaller lights after my big one failed unexpectedly. My helmet light let me continue, though more slowly. Now I use two handle bar lights and a helmet light. Even if one fails, I still have enough light.
Figure out the easiest part of the course and try and time that for the night section. Weathers been Ok this Week. assume u have the mission completed by now !
Hello. Enjoyed watching your video. I have a 2016 Giant Revolt 2. Not used it for a while and planning on getting back on it. The Tyres that's on it are 700x35c. What's a good pair of gravel tyres for this. To be honest I don't now much about the mechanics of a bike. Just now how to ride one lol.
Morning! I think I'm still with Dave with the 17 hours or so. I'm confident in ya! BTW, would you prefer the Redshift stem over the Lauf fork? Is there a reason you don't put the fork on the teal/orange Marin?

You will not last on gels and sugar, your feel really sick after 8 hours of it,take loads of normal food, and find somewhere on route you can get real crap food like pizza or a bacon roll (unless your veggie) it will be the best tasting thing ever

Try Lupine lights in the future, they leave more space on your handlebars and are the absolute best

A backpack saved me from injury when I fell over backwards on to rocks. Just make sure it has a few soft things in it. Good luck with the event.
Sending positive vibes from Japan! I'm confident you'll finish < 24 hrs. 5k of climbing, holy moly!

Didn’t affect it really but I’ve really tighten up the suspension on it so it’s pretty subtle
