A Castle on an Island: Chateau Azay-le-Rideau

Nestled in the heart of the French town of Azay-le-Rideau lies a stunning architectural masterpiece - the Chateau d'Azay-le-Rideau. It was built between 1518 and 1527 and is considered one of the foremost examples of early French Renaissance architecture. The chateau is surrounded by a wooded park and is an elegant Renaissance building, two stories high, with turrets and sharply pointed roofs. It is set on an island in the middle of the Indre River, which reflects the castle's facades so that the chateau appears to float in its own image.
