I've just discovered you, guys. Definitely looking forward to more podcast-style videos on bass-related topics. I really enjoyed this one. Now I'm checking out the earlier stuff you did on your channels. All the best from a late bass starter from Poland! (Have been playing guitar for thirty years or so, though. )

First, GREAT video! Secondly, I agree 100% with what you are saying. I played the drums for many years and now the bass. Nowadays with loops, drum and bass machines, samples, etc., it’s a different ball game. However, two interviews really set the record straight for me on this subject: (1) “Some of the better artists right now are the ones that are not perfect. I think that adds character. I see that that’s the future, more character, more human. I could be wrong but I think I’m right” (Bob Rock record producer), (2) The next one I don’t have a direct quote on but I read Geezer Butler’s (Black Sabbath bassist) autobiography recently where he said that their first or early albums continue to sell because they aren’t as polished and over produced. He goes on to say that sometimes when music is overly polished and overly produced you lose the essence of the band. This he feels is what has happened to music. Well, my opinion? I agree with what these two people have said. I always believe the bass and music will continue to evolve. I mean, look how far the bass has come? It used to be hidden in the back and now it’s out front! Now, everybody can make and record music right in their own homes. I believe bass will be around, it make play a different part and sound different depending on the options at the time, but it will be around like the drums. GREAT video!

Great discussion. My feeling is, all current and future bass players are safe😊 I’ve been playing for over 30 years and never had difficulty finding gigs. There are so many great up and coming bassists, and bands for that matter, that play week in week out, who garner big followings (whether locally, nationally or internationally) and pay cheques as well. There will always be a percentage of the population who will pay to see live bands. There’s nothing like live music, and no AI can replicate that!

Band playing would be dead without us bass players, we bring the bottom and without bass players it would be all keyboards trying to fill in the Frequency, a dance band without bass has no danceable sound that's for sure.
