  • Watch the students at The Bizung School of Music & Dance perform the Bamaya dance, from the Northern Region of Ghana. Bamaya is traditionally performed with a choir supported with drums and flutes and the male dancers usually wear feminine outfits. "Bamaya" means "the river valley is wet" in the Dagbani language and the dance is generally associated with the celebration of good harvests.
This popular dance is performed in festivals, weddings, funerals, and other social events, connecting young generations with their cultural heritage and becoming a tool to promote peace in the area.
