Hi, I worked on the Starship Troopers game by Mongoose, I painted some of the miniatures for adverts/book etc. and I drew some vehicles, weapons for books. Glad people are still playing.
Did they get sold off? I bought a bunch of miniatures from a guy in Longview Washington and he said they were the original ones used for the advertising
Dude this is awesome! I didn't even know Starship Troopers had a mini-series. Awesome looking army and paint setup. Love that dropship and the epic size of the warrior army.
Type in starship trooper chronicles campaign in youtube search. There were some recent awesome people that edited whole seasons and the binge is pure nostalgia.
I'm so glad someone else remembers the Starship Troopers RPG. Even if the system can be a little janky, the lore was always entertaining and really helped expand the setting.
@@TheRendar If I remember correctly Mongoose used the same core rules across three games: Starship Troopers, a Medieval Knights game, and a modern warfare game. So, if you really wanted to you could play Arachnids vs. Knights of the Round Table, Drop troopers vs. Iraqi Republican Guard, or French cavalry vs. US Marines.
This is cool, i was gifted the squad from the Roughnecks TV series which i enjoyed painting up. I didn't know it was a whole tabletop game. Shame it's no longer in production.
honestly, the first Starship Troopers movie is why I love the idea of Space Marines vs Tyranids. My fiance collects Necrons so we basically have Helldivers right there, lol.
I had no idea these existed they are awesome looking, me and my one friend were big Star Ship Troopers fans when we were kids and always ran home to watch that CG cartoon on our lunch break, I wish they would reissue these minis I would buy some just to display if I couldn't find anybody to play the game with, big thanks for sharing very cool
Hey man, super fan of this game. Was a big fan of how they used the cartoon since man, I watched that on TV every day before running to the bus before school.
Had to click on this!!!!! You are one of the few dudes who has a set on par with how many I got!!!!!! LOVED seeing your minis!!!!! You have way more of the exotic sets. I came in late and got a TON of starter boxes and the mech suit. Over the years I picked up BIG wall bugs for halloween as the "tanks" of the bug army. I picked up a GIANT dragon fly for like a deep strike drop ship for the bugs. I picked up Pasicals Japanese starship trooper files. I didn't know he did the light troops!!!! Thanks for the heads up!!! I'm planing on the bigger thicker bugs to be "tunneler slave bugs. Real powerful butler to hit so can make holes and can crack takes if they can get to them. Really brought back the vibe!!!!! You are THE MAN!!!!!
Thats awesome to hear! love your channel . please do a video on your collection. im going to do a huge battle report soon with them. Excited to see other peoples SST collections, a hidden jem. keep up the awesome content @terrainaholic
@@TheRendar I only built 50 ish bugs but I have a back wall of boxes and all the big bugs out. Its going to be a years job to assemble and paint them. Our old camera died and were still learning the new camera but I'll try to do that for you:)!!!
I love this, man. Thank you so much for sharing. I was late on this game but was able to find a couple starter sets, some suits and hopper bugs. This is the most I've ever seen. Beautiful collection.
Definitely one of the best ruleset from Andy Chambers. Urban legend is that Andy pitched this ruleset for 4th edition 40k but GW leadership didn't want this because the changes are to drastical to current ruleset of that time. So Andy quit his job at GW and work as freelancer. MGP search for a rule developer and an idea for a ruleset and so they found Andy and SST came to life.
The mind control bugs were also in the cartoon. The exosuit designs were based on the looks in the old SST anime There was also the 4th race that Mongoose added near the end of the line with their drones There was also a lot of really good content in the mongoose pdf "magazine" thing that might still be on DriveThruRPG or their various sub stores
@@TheRendarOne of the things that never got released near the end were some full on book accurate power armor based on some of the different covers that were planned as limited event releases where you could only get them that way with other things for different forces. The only thing I didn't really like with Mongoose's universe is that they went all in on making every side, essentially, evil for evils sake in a lot of things for the lore and anything set in it.
How Cool to see it again! I was a Member of the Mongoose Infantry Demo Team in Germany until the game was cancelled. Nice to see, that People still have it and maybe play it. I still have all of my Troopers, Bugs and Skinnies. 🙂
blast from the past. I lived near where the metal minis were cast and it was always on the shelves while it was in production. Also good to hear memories of the WarStore, miss that place and Neal.
Not knowing this game existed until now, Starship Troopers is largely why I got into 40k. Tyranids are my main army and I collect/play for epic apocalypse scale narrative battles. 6000 points of Nids coming in waves like a real invasion assaulting a heavily fortified position of Space Marines/Astra Militarum. I don't care about winning or loosing, I just love the way big bug horde looks on the tabletop.
I love these minis (and Starship Troopers in general). I started collecting them off of ebay near the beginning of the pandemic; they were actually not horribly expensive at that time for the most part but man, they really climbed in price over the last few years. Not entirely surprising though seeing that they've been out of print since 2007.
I played the board game of this back in the day. I was surprised to hear you mention the skinnies because the first couple of games in the rule book involved direct combat between the MI and them. The game used those little cardboard counters with the numbers on to provide stat's. They also included a more variable force including biker units that looked like the GW SM bikes. I also included a search component to the game where you were looking for bug nests using passive sound instruments. Great fun at the time but lost contact with the dude I played mostly with and he kept the game at his place. No grief, just life happens.
heya matt, remember the glory days of posting on the mongoose forums? I even joined the mongoose infantry and ran demos and tournaments. unfortunately sold my huge painted collection a few years after the game died. did you get the viking dropship from me? i had acquired dozens of the galoob aircraft in a lucky haul and was hooking people up on the forums with vikings, tac fighters, etc.
Great times on that forum! i purchased the viking from some one else on ebay and painted it up. i need to get more lol or find 3d stls on line for the air craft etc. Glad to hear you remember the early days of SST. great times in gaming.
I still have all my SST stuff! Even snagged the resin brain bug when they were selling stuff off. I was in the MI from Mighty Armies through Babylon 5 and RuneQuest. :-)
Andy Chambers-everything the man touches is gold. he also wrote the 3d terrain rules for DUST tactics/1947 one of the best rule sets i have ever played (and still play since i own 5 armies). i also love the roughnecks series i own them all on DVD. 👍
I loved this game, even tried to collect some bits after it collapsed. The Klendathu campaign was a genuine work of genius, I even adapted it for other rules sets.
to cool of u to show us your beautiful huge armies of Starship Troopers Miniatures. and to discuss them for us in every detail there is even including lots of rule books. especially for that porpuse of explaining the hobby to the wider youtube audience.
Nice showcase army collection you got there I have the starter set and some of a few units but never had a chance to play it. I reviewed it over two years ago. Hopefully I can get a battle report myself someday.
Fun fact about the plastic Skinnies: only a limited number made it into the wild, Mongoose lost the license in the middle of the production run, so all the sprees got dumped out back of the Revell factory in Dayton OH. Word got out and nomlater than that very evening there was a line of cars around the facility with dudes digging through the dumpster for abandoned plastics..
Awesome collect! Wish I had jumped in back then! Now collecting/ playing the Aliens Another Glorious Day in the Corps miniatures game. Great models! Thank you for your service!

i remember learning about this a little bit back and wanted to pick stuff up but been too broek to even pick up the rules book or anythings. EDIT: The starship troopers pinball table is still my favorite pinball table.
I so regret not buying a bug army back in the day. I loved the look of these guys but now days they are ridiculously expensive. These bugs are much better designs than Nids and look amazing on the table. Its a pity they are no longer available.
Just a random a passerby here. Look at random miniatures every now and then. The Roughneck armor's nice for sure, but has anyone made the suits from the CGI movies like "Traitor of Mars" out of curiosity? Those things are awesome
That is a fantastic collection, I missed this when it was out, I was in Iraq and then in hospital/physio 2003/4(British Army). Always loved the look of the stuff though, it's always been pricey on the 2nd hand market here. Once you've gotten stuff painted, will you be playing through the Klendathu Campaign you mentioned from the source book, as that would be a good series to follow along to.
Those guys you think are wargames atlantic are actually from defiance games and if memory serves some of their staff came from wargames atlantic or wargames factory i think it was before they re-branded. Unfortunately theyre no longer in production after a ks controversy but i picked up 2 boxes to use for my collection of SST as well.
Hands down one of my favorite novels. I always wanted to play the game, but could never afford it. I really liked how they combined the novel, the animated series, and the movies all together. Naming some of them after your buddies was a great idea, too! If you don't mind my asking, are the 3D prints available for sale anywhere, either as printed models or STLs?
I was in RoK when Starship Troopers came out on rental and it wasn't a good way to watch it. At that time, all movies were edited to remove nudity and human dismemberment which totally killed the viewing of the movie.
SST is such an underrated franchise. I have the PDF copies of all the books! Never got to actually play the table top game. I use the books for my own SST message board though. How long does it take to paint these miniatures?
Used to play the game all the time. Had about 8k of bugs and 3 to 9k of Infantry depending on how i ran them. Sadly they were all stolen about a decade ago and just can't afford to re-collect.
I have the assassin bug. I had most of the other bugs but unfortunately sold them. The different tanker bugs were the original plastic kit with large heavy metal bits that broke to much un fortunately . Wish I didn’t get rid of them
~>1:11 Great Vid & Collection;-) (BTW: Did You/They/Them ever *_find_* any of those ubiquitous *WMDs* during either tour? You know: the things the entire C0NFLICT was predicated on (??) "Ha~Ha! Ain't War Hell !?" ~ 50 Cal. Huey Door Gunner: *FULL METAL JACKET* 7:11

I have some Metal Light Infantry that are still being used for 40K. Bits and pieces floating around my bits box from Pathfinders and power armor.
very cool. great miniatures
I was in RoK when Starship Troopers came out on rental and it wasn't a good way to watch it. At that time, all movies were edited to remove nudity and human dismemberment which totally killed the viewing of the movie.
have the books and rpg but lost minis would love to recollect but there expensive these days :)
god i wish i had th money to buy there when they first came out
Tell us more about the printed Light Infantry ? Where did you get them ?
papaskill on the web and i believe myminifactory.com he makes some amazing aliens, colonial marines and predators as well.
I didn’t even know this existed
Really cool styff
thank you so much!
got alot of those warrior bug, shame i could find other units
should look at all the 3D printed stuff in 10mm you can get these days
You need a king tanker, royal guard and a assasin bug,
I have the assassin bug.
You know: the things the entire C0NFLICT was predicated on (??)

I replaced you in Sumarra, I was there in 06. Where were you? Brassfield morra, Razor or Olson?
Small world. I was stationed at Patro Base Uvanni. It’s where we lived and operated out of.
I hope somebody picks up the rights and reprints it
absolutely!
Way better than Tyranids.
Sergent Zim FTW
Absolutely !
Does anyone know where I can get Total Recall miniatures from?
Tyranids Vs Imperial Guard you mean.. ;)
😂😂
So much cooler than Nids vs Imperial guard. Andy Chambers was the heart and soul of Necromunda which has never been the same since he left.
This place crawls...
Ja wow, ich hätte es mir jetzt gleich gekauft …Aber das Spiel gibt es nicht mehr😢
I have several Questions Do you have a spare box of Plastic Skinnie Raiders and also dis you get the King Tanker bug?
unfortually i dont and i sold my king tanker unfortunately. it was a wonky miniature and kept breaking.
@@TheRendar I never knew they made plastic Skinny Infantry I always thought they were all made of Metal.
@@TheRendar also You weren't using enough Glue on your tanker. Besides its worth it as its the coolest looking bug in the Aracnid army.
Frankly, I find the idea of a bug that thinks OFFENSIVE
😂😂
i want a battle report
Coming very soon!
hate the design of the marines, the bug designs are really cool tho.
This still exists?!
Unfortunately not anymore 😢
Thats a lot of bugs!
"Only Good bug, is a dead bug!" ;)
i soooooooo regret i threw my bugs out.... sooo stupid... had a loot of em
THREW THEM OUT? People would have paid good money for them once it was discontinued. Madness.
@@rwentfordable i know!! i regret it sooooo much now!! but they took place and i didnt have the time or energy to get them new home :(
