    This is the only headlight video I have found that actually goes into detail about positions and everything on install. Every other video I came across just skips to job complete.

    I'll start by saying this is a very well done video. I watched another video where they said to remove that metal clip, I think he was doing the high beam. When I pried my metal clip off it did not want to go back into the socket, at all.
    Something must be wrong with my metal clip that goes on behind my bulb. I could not get it to seat, or to lock when I followed the instructions closely. I made sure everything was put together in the right directions. I took the bulb off to see if the clip was bent and it fell down out of sight. Now I need to find if I can order another one of these clips.
    Edit - I got some replacement metal tabs, went back to your video and got my new bulb in. Thank you sir.

    At least your wiring insulation looks intact. My driver side wiring completely disintegrated and blew the fuse. VW would rather risk fire than use long lasting insulation.

    Thank you for the additional information on how it sits in the bracket, I won’t say I lost 2 bulbs last night into the front fender which is completely sealed, this really is the only thing I dislike about my 2014 5 speed, it burns them out quick 😢and the driver side is 3 to 4 times more like to be the bad one 🤨 of course that’s the one with the least amount of working room

    Either you have tiny hands or just plain lucky. I cannot reach back as easily to get it off. Might have to remove my bumper again to get it off
    Edit* Apologies for the frustration. I found out my problem. Mine is a 13’ TDI Sportwagen and unlike yours, it has a rubber cap and the light was able to pop out completely (wireless)which made it easier to install. Either it’s aftermarket or maybe model specific but other than that, I was able to squeeze my hand in. After that, the process was the same. Thx for the upload.

    Not sure what someone did to ours - low beam has *no* fitting with the large 'ears' to remove the bulb assembly, just the bare connector, with some kind of spring clip held by a screw. 🤔🤔

    Is there a specific trick to fit back inside the hole after replacing the bulb. I can't get mine to seat right to lock it in since my hands are much larger than the alloted space

    • @Corysdiyauto
      @Corysdiyauto  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There's really no trick, just patience and determination. Haha.

    • @jeffkelly636

      When replacing the driver side low beam, The thin tab that sticks out on the metal bulb bracket, has to go in turned slightly in the direction toward the passenger side, instead of straight down when you put the bulb assembly back in. Then, you rotate it about 20 or 30 degrees - clockwise facing the bulb socket or counter clockwise if you're facing the front of the car. That metal tab doesn't go in straight down but slightly toward the pass side, when doing the driver bulb. Then you rotate it like he says and with a few tries it should lock. When locked, I think the small metal tab is pointing straight down. I hope this helps someone.
      Another thing that helps a bit is get a flexible light magnet. That can fit in by the fender gap and put some light on it.

    • @DonnSimmons
      @DonnSimmons 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@jeffkelly636 TOTALLY HELPED ME!!! That metal tab shouldn't be pointed down to 6:00, but more to 4:00 or so before you can turn it into place.

    Do you have any idea how to change the little bulbs by the side of the high beam bulb?

    • @Corysdiyauto
      @Corysdiyauto  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Those are referred to as "City Lights" and only illuminate when your low beams are turned on. They are a little more difficult to remove, but with some patience, you should be able to remove them. I would first remove the high beam bulb to give yourself more room. Next, try to reach in there and grab ahold of the back of the bulb and pull straight out. You might want to use needle nose pliers if you can't grip it with your fingers. I hope this helps you. Good luck!

    • @Corysdiyauto
      @Corysdiyauto  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You're probably not lining it up correctly before turning, unless you have a problem with the light housing? Just make sure that the bulb is flat against the light housing before you start turning to secure it. Hopefully you can get it.
