There's so many good jokes in this episode but the 'Where's the-- your hair looks amazing' fucking gets me every time
The whole episode working up to Manny becoming a hunchback helper is pure genius

This episode is one of the best half hours ever conceived and set to film.

Textbook comedy, as close to perfection as we can ever hope for. Writing, directing, acting, all spot on. Unlike the wine, it never gets old.
Thats why comedians should write comedy.

Dylan Moran is an amazing stand up comedian. And his acting is every bit as good: multi talent backed by hard work, i’m sure, even though he’s the ultimate character of ease.
Tamsin Greig, she is wonderful.
funny though because I got to know Moran from his stand up...but he looks much less healthy during this series... method acting, perhaps
Ardal O'Hanlon (Father Dougal Macguire) inspired Moran to go into comedy after Moran saw O'Hanlon doing stand up.

Bill Bailey live is amazing. He is a multi instrumentalist. His performance isnt equalled by anyone.

Thanks to whoever uploaded these! Back in the day I had to log into some shady website to watch black books. I remember when my British friend introduced me to this show back when I had just moved to Europe from America. I thought it was the stupidest thing I'd ever seen, now its one of my fav shows! Brings back so much nostalgia!
I think this is one of the first things I torrented... about 15 years ago...

The toast falling on Manny's head might be one of the funniest endings of an episode of any sitcom ever.
ending of the season ep 01 was hilarious too: when Fran finally finds out the orb is just a lighter - good writing --> end with a banger

It's between this and the restaurant one for me.
I just started watching - all new to me: I am wholeheartedly convinced you are dead wrong. These *must* get better and better as the season progresses.
The two reasons I love this one so much is Fran in the restaurant and all the dumb shit she says like "I am a giant ear" and "will you _just_ look at these breasts!", and also how seamlessly the part in the front yard with manny a lá the hunchback comes together as a result of all these unrelated incidents. Its a classic and quite old British comedy structure, but ill never get tired of some of the creative ways series writers have come up with pulling them off

IMO the best sitcom of all time.
As a lover of wine (Cabernet Sauvignon to be exact), this episode warms my heart. To be honest, it’s the perfect show to have with a nice glass of wine. To your health.

Graham took Fran's closeted gay man story and fleshed it out for Jen's story in the Work Outing episode of The IT Crowd. Both work very well.

I grew fond of Trappist beer recently and I'm telling myself that if I ran a brewery within a monastery, I'd brand my beer as "Abbé's tears" and I'd put this particular actor's weeping face on the etiquette.

This show was the greatest, should have gone on forever. NEED this level of comedy so desperately.
It took them so many takes to actually knock that vase over. They wouldn't bump it enough, or their natural reflexes would kick in and try to stop it from falling.
It was a very silly place to put that vase, kitchen is a very high traffic area. Was bound to happen eventually

I have found that it mostly all tastes gross.
