NBA live had it for awhile but 2k9-2k10 was when it just took over
nba2k10 is when 2k officially won the battle my last favort nba live was 2004

if you play sports games, don't buy the newest one every single year, because you're just buying the same game with slightly updated stats on characters. I say wait at least 3-5 years before buying a new sports game
That is what I do. Especially on Madden. I have 09 & haven't played 25 yet, which i heard was pretty great. If you haven't played a Madden game in a long time, it is more fun because it doesn't feel like much has changed. NBA 2K, it depends. 2K12 was the best one to me but I haven't played 2K14 yet.
If you feel like taking all that time to update the 300 trades, signings, and releases during those 3 years go for it.
DraikonZ3 I play madden casually, so I don't worry about those.
2K steps up their game every year, though. But I understand what you mean, I still play NBA2K12.

Damn man I can still remember how much I would play these games. I remember live 01 and nba 2k1 vividly, I was only 12 years old thinking I was Kobe and Iverson smfh time flies man I'm 26 this year and still enjoying time now with my nephews playing nba 2k15 on Xb1 and got a kid of my own now lol.
This video made me realize a couple things.
1.How far technology has come.
2.How 2k came into the game and demolished live.
3.How fast time goes by and we should enjoy every moment.
4.Oh and how I miss those teen years.

I'm 33yrs. old & owned every NBA LIVE & was very loyal to the franchise...UNTILL NBA 2K11. Pre ordered NBA 2K 13 & couldn't be happier w/ it. NBA LIVE dropped the ball so to speak. This is a GREAT video, thumbs up!
NBA Live 1999 was my first basketball game, and ESPN NBA2K5 was my first 2K game.
Quincey Hall Live 99 was my 1st too "the Antwan Walker cover"
but 2k11 was the first 2k game "the MJ cover"
but the one i liked the most was live 2003 "the commentary is ssssickkk"
and then live 2004 "features are soo many"
To me 2k became better in 09 . I think live 15 is the comeback game looking real nice. But damn ! I got a little emotional remembering the good old days. Chillin with the boys and kicking ass in Live or 2K. :') good times

Nba live 04,06,and 07 were the best in my opinion and i think 2k started to take over when 2k8 dropped.

Great video... I can't knock anyone on their preference, but even EA admitted they weren't up to par.. Don't forget they canceled a few Live titles that were completed and waiting to be distributed to the retailers...
Nba live 04 and especially 05 were the best nba live then 2k took over at 2k9

After about liv 04-06, they were beat out by 2k.
Playing on courts all around the world. Last but not least, GREATEST SOUNDTRACK EVER!! Dope underground beats to always ball to. They don't make em like they used to. 2k5 is legendary and ahead of its time...
and now in 2014 the best game is NBA 2k ! , I love Next Gen
Back in the day I would play a lot of NBA 2k because it was so good and every time I watch it I relive the moments of playing with friends and having fun and it evolved so much and it makes me happy :)

1st of all, epic video. I love it. It brought tears into my eyes. That being said, while NBA Live is a good basketball series, I think that NBA 2K is the best basketball series. The 2K guys at 2K Sports have took a lot of time and patience to put together a well-made and awesome basketball game. EA Sports was trying too hard and too fast with their Live series just to make a quick buck. But with 2K, they manages to make it like a beautiful thing. Plus, they added a lot of NBA Legends into the mix and when they got the rights to use the likeness of Jordan, Magic, & Bird, they won the battle. In short, NBA 2K > NBA Live.

awesome compilation. I was always an NBA Live fan ever since 97 ...but after NBA Live 2010...I had no choice but to switch to the 2K series. I've purchased 2K11 and 2K12 and they've been great.

TBH i loved the live series and never really could get into the 2k series something about the controls always felt off to me but the first NBA game i played (other than NBA Jam) was live 95 or 96 and kept playing each year after that so i progressed with the game. I even enjoyed live 10 but i jumped ship this year to 2k14 the my player mode on that is the BOMB!!! even has stopped me playing MLB the show 14 which i love. sooo indepth i hope MLB look at following suit and giving RTTS some more depth in character building. Awesome video dude good work to get NBA Live Elite on their too :)

NBA Live 2005 was the last time I remember live being a solid game of basketball. Then 06 introduced player specific skills where you just just hit a button with Korver and have him hit a three, hit another button with Kobe and have him tea bag someone while dunking on them, and for some weird reason, you could never block jump shots. From there they just kept trying to stay ahead by doing everything except there basic game play right. The 360/ps3 were dark times for EA in the baskeball franchise :(

2k5 will always be the best b-ball video game. great graphics (for 2004 standards, even now), game modes were great(24/7 was fantastic!), gameplay was actually balanced, street mode was dope, soundtrack is the greatest known to man. They definitely don't make em like they used to...

I don't understand. Does the NBA take licensing fees from both EA Sports and 2K Sports? How else do you allow both game makers to use the images of players and that of the NBA?
Live was good during the 2000s, but 2K has gotten so much better. I miss Marv Albert announcing the games, though.

NBA live 2004 was the only live game I had. Played 05, but never owned it. 05 was sick though.
This is pretty cool. Probably played about 90% of them. Haha. Little disappointed there was no Bynum Jesus though.

I remember playing NBA LIVE 03 when I was in 3rd grade, on the Xbox; I would always play Sacramento Kings or Indiana Pacers vs the Lakers.Then, I would always go to my friend's apartment in NYC and play LIVE 05, he would play with the Pacers & I was always the Sonics, all he would do is try to throw alley-oops lol. Then,NBA 2k9 on 360, I beat some dude ranked in the Top 10 with the Atlanta Hawks (made him quit too!) Crazy to think how many memories these basketball games probably gave all of us.
2Ks domination started with 2K5! Then they got crowned king with 2K7 when the signatures got introduced... and been king every since then. 2K13 will again successfully defend the throne this year!!
2K2 for Dreamcast and NBA Live 96 for Genesis are the funnest and most playable of NBA sims. Old school, baby!

yea Ive been playing 2k since 2k8.In 2010 i bought live and nba 2k10.After about a week with live 10 i said "This game shall never see the light of day again" Out loud.Traded it in the next day
06-07 live improved so much

I remember wen i was 13 and i played NBA 2k6 n they showed earl boykins dunking lol. I aint play that game for about a month after i saw dat...i told my friend ima jus stick to live lol. Ive been a live fan since live 04 and i had to b about 11 yrs old so its jus been crazy how sports games been improving lol.

I played almost all of these. Live 97, 98, 99, 03, 04, 05, 06 and 2k1-6. Then I realized I was wasting my money buying the same game every year. So I played 2k7(it was $15 and live was $50) skipped 2k8-10. 11 & 12 I was busy with RPGs and then I bought 2k13 on PC. I couldn't find Live to compare it to; are they still making Live?
Back in the day, NBA live was rockin.
I remember the NBA Live series was dominating until about 2008-9 because they introduced the "freestyle superstar" controls and that made the game that much more enjoyable. My fav was NBA Live 2005 because it had a badass soundtrack. After 2009 it looked like EA stopped trying and their video games never really evolved and 2K just became dominant

I am NBA game player since NBA live 2000..The best Nba live for me was 2003 and 2004, I remember playing it all day, graphics and movements were smooth back then,.then suddenly NBA LIVE 2005 came and everything changed, the graphics for me went down and the movements became stiff, bad move by NBA LIVe. I still played live until 2007, until my friends introduced me 2k8...feel sad for NBA LIVE..
It truly is amazing how technology has progressed over the years.

2k took over in 1999 when the Dreamcast came out. Live has sucked since then for me.
Nba live 07 08 and 09 were the good games for me then i got into 2k at 09 and im pumped for 2k13

Little Known Fact: NBA Live 10 is the real NBA 2K10 and possibly even NBA 2K13 because Mike Wang (main Developer for NBA 2K for years) worked for EA for the 2009-10 NBA season and he implemented some of the elements from NBA 2K13 you see (ex. Right Stick Dribbling) in NBA Live 10. Then he went back to 2K for 2K11 and the rest is history.

It was NBA 2K7, actually. NBA Live 07, on the XBox360, was so horrendous that many people traded in their copies in favor of NBA 2K7. Since then, 2K basketball reigned supreme on the current gen consoles.
