I've had some real good memories with PS2 Madden lol. From creating OP superteams in C.A.T. and putting them in franchise in 05, to 07 with my Vikings dynasty, to 08, where I brought the Browns to the Super Bowl. Out of all of these, I have the most memories with 05. Best NFL game ever.
Yup. I feel like Madden 08 was the last really great Madden game. That was when I could play it all season long & still have more fun than being fed up with all the bugs and stupid shit. For the last like 5 years I've barely played it because it's basically a $60 roster update and they never do anything innovative anymore, and they never fix all the glaring issues. It just takes the fun out of it when I feel like I'm being ripped off.
Quincey Hall I loved Madden 12 it was the first one that started the graphics we see today. It was the beginning of it and the game itself was great. best one yet
Madden 2003-2005 were the best Madden games ever, 2007 was good as well. I still remember going against Michael Vick in Madden 2004 on All-Madden. He was sooooo difficult to stop, he was OP as hell lol. Good times
That was like watching a child grow... You don't realize how much they have grown until you look at old pictures. Shout out to the Madden developers...they get a lot of flack, but over all I have had fun every year with Madden...
awesome video man these games have gotten crazy realistic not just in graphics but the actual gameplay too. you pretty much have total control over everything
What game modes? Anything that can be updated in an update that takes less than three minutes like stats, player names, etc does not COUNT as being new
I miss the Maddens with the three screens at the top when you pass! lol I used to play with my Pops and my uncle when I was in grade school! Always got Green Bay for their colors. lol But Madden 99 & 2000 are my favorites. No BS animations back then!
i feel like EA is putting more effort into Fifa because its a worldwide audience not just the US, I really want to see real looking people in the stands like fifa instead of the cardboard looking ones in M15, the other teams fans will start cheering like the fans of mine whenever I get a pick or score a TD
Toa Ninjis Well the gameplay hasn't changed since the PS2 era. They don't really have to spend any time on the gameplay and can purely focus on the graphics.
I started as a wee little kid with Madden 99 (was 3 years old). To this day my favorite ones are basically the entire PS2 era (Madden 05-09), all of them were great.
It looks like in the late 90's, the programmers spent more time improving the title graphics than they did on the game itself. The sound effects actually were worse in '97 than they were in '96. LOL at the sounds from 2:50-2:59.
Madden 06 superstar mode on the ps2 was a classic gem. Madden 05's franchise mode was the best ever with that radio talk show host. Lol. And Espn's 2k5 football is one of the best games I've ever played
this is why we need another football game. every year up to 05 you can see and hear a difference in the game. after 05 the game hardly changes (no2k). one reason im beyond happy nba live is back.because 2k started to do the same thing with its basketball game
05, 07, and 25 are w/o a doubt the 3 best madden games. 05 - Most balanced gameplay out of any Madden game, 05 did it right. After 05 it started going downhill because after 05 comes the vision cone era :( 07 - had the best franchise mode, I was disappointed that no game did franchise mode as well as 07. You actually played your one and only position, not the whole team. 25 - while having very well balanced gameplay still has some penalty issues such as out of bounds when it clearly wasn't and a lack of pass interference calls. 25 also has MUT + content such as the collections (to be fair I didn't own Madden's 08-13 so I never played them much to know what they had). Vince lombardi's, Mike Ditka's Bill Walsh's, and Joe Gibb's playbook. Imo next gen madden 25 is the best.
AtriscoMayhem8th9 I think most fans agree 06 is the worst. Anyone that played pre-Vision cone era knew how good 03-05 were (besides the zone defense at least lol). Honestly after revisiting the older ones, EA truly cared about the game back then. After monopolizing and taking out 2k, the games have made hardly any progression besides roster updates and maybe fixing bugs here and there. Don't get me wrong, 25 next gen is the best Madden game i've played. But the fact that it took 9 years for something that should've and could've been done in 2-3 madden games is...well yea.
LMAO Madden13 Has So Many Fuckibg Glitches ! Players Falling Over Each Other And Shit XD. But Madden 99 Is When Tha Games Graphics Started To Reach A Come Up...
I personally loved madden 12 because I had a REAL franchise mode, I wanted the micromanagement from 12 in 13's be a coach and it just wasn't there. Be coach mode seemed like a play the games, do the offseason, and do it all over again.
They took small things out that I loved when I was younger, like the tattoos, custom face editing for be a superstar, hiring agents, scouts and neck pads. Now the game seems monotonous to me.
fav maddens 25, 05, 03, 09, all of them are good though, 03 was def when madden started getting really good and very addicting, 05 capitalized on the gameplay and player progression, 09 with soundtracks, 25 with features and overall gameplay, havent played the xbox one or ps4 versions yet though
I may go a little left field of allot of you guys. I have all the maddens from the 1st next gen (ps2) to the current next gen (360) I would have to say out of all the maddens i own I would have to rank MADDEN 07 at the top just because of the overall gameplay and run physics #2 would be MADDEN 12 because thats when i felt madden actually took the time to pay attention to the message boards and the fans. and the fact they addressed the SUCTION TACKLING and made it more collision based. which is real football. #3 is a tie between 04-05 my heart is leaning towards 05 IF I HAD TO CHOSE because Thats the last time i felt it was a complete madden, from gameplay to Franchise mode, to everything. and above all else... DAMMIT THE INTRODUCTION OF HIT STICK..OMG!!!! I would have said 05 at number 1 but i have never enjoyed watching a replay and saying to myself "yeah, thats real football" or "i could see (insert player name) making a play like that"
It's funny how in all of these videos we see the SNES version of 97 and 98... That's kinda like showing the Wii version of Madden 13 today. PC and PS version of 97, 98 and 99 looked a whole lot more impressive than the SNES and N64 versions...
Madden 12 was the last good one. I love looking at stats of my players in franchise and they fucked all of that up, it's horrible now. Simming a season takes way too long now, you can't look at a players career stats from any menu or in game anymore. I don't see why that's so hard to have in the game, the more they try to improve the gameplay the more they take away from the simple things I enjoyed about Madden. I haven't tried 15 yet so I don't know if they fixed any of that.
Egg zactly. I don't understand why they took out the custom weather editor, or why they took out our ability to choose our own personnel for each formation including special teams, and have even drastically limited our ability to choose our own personnel via the depth chart. We used to be able to put any player in at the gunner position on punt teams; then they limited it to WR's and CB's, now we don't even get any fucking say whatsoever. This is all basic shit that should be easy for them to keep in the game, but they take it out for no discernible reason.
***** It's frustrating because I like playing the game itself, but taking out little things that have been in madden for the last 10 years is just stupid. The NBA 2k series is awesome for seeing the stats of all the players in the league, I just wish it was like that for a football game.
Bacon Balls Agreed, 100%. I'm one of the few gamers I know who's old enough to remember the very beginning of the Madden franchise for consoles, when the first "John Madden Football" came out for Sega Genesis in 1990. Even way back then, there was a game for the 8-bit Nintendo system called Tecmo Super Bowl, that was ultra simplistic, but had the full NFL & NFLPA licenses and had a killer stat tracking system through a whole 16 game season & playoffs, and that shit was THE BOMB back then. It took Madden like a full 8 years to catch up to that. Now, they caught up, and are backsliding again. Maybe we need a new Tecmo Super Bowl for the PS4?,,
***** I loved Tecmo Super Bowl, Bo Jackson was pretty much unstoppable. You're right that game did have good stat tracking for a game in the early 90's. EA is just getting lazier without competition. I do like how your players get experience points and can get better during the season instead of it being predetermined, but too much has been taken away for a stat fanatic like me. I haven't tried Madden 15 so I don't know if they fixed anything, but in 25 players stats would get fucked up from the games like my players games played would get reset back to 1 and make his average ypg in the thousands.
Bacon Balls Damn. To be honest, I have both Madden 25 and 15, but I've never really attempted to play a season on either yet. But I do remember there being issues with the stat tracking in older Madden games, that I would play seasons with. I remember way back in the day, EA came out with a baseball game for the Genesis that was fucking awesome for the time, called Tony Larussa Baseball. The gameplay was excellent, the hitting, fielding, everything was super intuitive, it had full rosters of all teams, very accurate player ratings, and the stat-keeping was way deep, even better than the MLB the Show games out today.. One problem: the game either didn't have a memory battery, or the ones they put in them didn't work. As soon as you turned off the game, you lost everything, stats, season, everything. Very impractical to play a 162-game season & playoffs without ever turning off the system or putting any other game in. So then a few years later they release Larussa Baseball '96. Gameplay was even better, same awesome player ratings, updated rosters, I bought it all psyched, thinking no way they would release another one that you couldn't save progress. I was wrong. Same exact shit. That really put me on to how fucked up & inconsiderate of the consumer they can be at EA.
If only we had ps2 era gameplay with the graphics and presentation of today.
I created a team with players like Peyton Manning and Hines Ward. Made it to the Superbowl, where we lost to the Patriots.
12 was the best. Create a team, great soundtrack, and memories. It's also when the graphics got real.
Truuuuuuuue
EZR madden 12 was like my life now all the maddens are shit
madden 12 was my first and will always be the best
idk. I think that 11 was the best
12 was good
Madden 07 is my favorite, especially for the PS2.
Hell yeah
I agree. I also liked Madden 08 and the use of various weapons
***** you can look at players stats in madden 25
Quincey Hall I loved Madden 12 it was the first one that started the graphics we see today. It was the beginning of it and the game itself was great. best one yet
ESPN NFL 2K5 still plays better than Madden's latest and greatest games, and it only took them 3 attempts.
Speak the truth!
Madden 2003-2005 were the best Madden games ever, 2007 was good as well. I still remember going against Michael Vick in Madden 2004 on All-Madden. He was sooooo difficult to stop, he was OP as hell lol. Good times
I hated Madden 04 just cause of Mr. Vick lol.
Luckily 05 solved defense issues 04 had.
can we get a montage of all the horrible glitches/exploits in each game too :)
Imagine this NFL Game:
Looks of Madden 16
The Modes of Madden 05 (Play, Season, Franchise, Coach Mode)
The mechanics of NFL 2K5
Or looks of madden 16
Nba 2k style my career
Presentation of nfl 2k5 with Jon gruden and mike tirico as announcers
+Jmoneyc18 yes
+Jmoneyc18 that would be the greatest sports game of all time
From Madden 2004 to Madden 16... it's been the exact same regurgitated game.
+Jay Bartgis nah, look what happened to the run animation, m16 looks like the players are running, while holding in a shit
Halo 2 - Halo 5 same regurgitated game with some better graphics.
Noah DeJesus Had a completely different story line.
+Jay Bartgis difference is players, stats, skill moves updated everything, new game modes, career mode... so yeah not really the same..
I remember getting madden 2000 and saying how does ea make these graphics
madden 13 was great. everybody had 99 overall teams. but madden 06 is my most liked one
BallerEdits Madden 13 is great on ps vita
i feel like EA is putting more effort into Fifa because its a worldwide audience not just the US, I really want to see real looking people in the stands like fifa instead of the cardboard looking ones in M15, the other teams fans will start cheering like the fans of mine whenever I get a pick or score a TD
I was thinking the exact same thing. They seriously need to fix that
Ikr. I was playing fifa and the players actually looked like the players and as in madden the players don't really look like the players.
Toa Ninjis Well the gameplay hasn't changed since the PS2 era. They don't really have to spend any time on the gameplay and can purely focus on the graphics.
I think they finally added signs and real crowds but took them forever.
In M16
Madden 06 graphics looked better than 07 and 08 combined
I started as a wee little kid with Madden 99 (was 3 years old). To this day my favorite ones are basically the entire PS2 era (Madden 05-09), all of them were great.
Madden 99 and above, yes madden 16 now, all are the same, just different moves, strafes, and better graphics looking further away.
Enjoyed a stroll down memory lane. Thx uploader
NICE TUCHDOWN 4:47
madden 06 ps2 and xbox are different
WAAAAAAAAAAAY DIFERENT
They called Mike Vick "superman?"
Tbh .. Madden 12 was the best because that's the last Madden that ever has soundtracks
It looks like in the late 90's, the programmers spent more time improving the title graphics than they did on the game itself. The sound effects actually were worse in '97 than they were in '96. LOL at the sounds from 2:50-2:59.
This is pretty cool, 13 is my favorite
madden 05-08 had the best soundtracks they fucking up now
12 had the best
I started with Madden '07. Madden 12 was my favorite. I Miss create a team and the music.
Ikr
+Sam Chapman (TypicalGamerr) Same... ._.
I think they stopped create a tea at 09 thts when it was at its best for me
Started 89, best game ever, even better then right now in the present.
Madden 06 superstar mode on the ps2 was a classic gem. Madden 05's franchise mode was the best ever with that radio talk show host. Lol. And Espn's 2k5 football is one of the best games I've ever played
madden 12 was the peak off madden i see the same animations from 12 still in the other maddens after that
Madden 04 makes me cry me and my brother every night in the summer playing each other always playing bengals or Tampa bay :')
this is why we need another football game. every year up to 05 you can see and hear a difference in the game. after 05 the game hardly changes (no2k). one reason im beyond happy nba live is back.because 2k started to do the same thing with its basketball game
Madden 12,09,25 and 13 are my favorite
Great video! I love the music!
i remember getting madden nfl 94 thinking the graphics could never get any better then this lol
MADDEN 94 WAS MY SHIT !!!!!!
two things never change in Madden. The crowd graphics, and EA putting it's name anywhere they can
Anyone remember the create a playbook feature?
RIP OILERS GONE OUT NOT FORGOTTEN
(I still where my oilers hat and people look at me like I'm crazy
in graphics the biggest gap is between Madden 98 and 99
Snes - N64
08 was the 1st I played and loved it! Loved every single 1 after it 2!
Madden 97, 99, 06, 08, 10 and 12 are my personal favorites. Haven't played 13 or 25 yet.
Oh, and ESPN NFL 2k5 is also fucking fantastic.
Madden 09 is when I got hooked and started killin it.
06 and 07 looked way better on the PS2 than the 360
EazyyMuthuLovinnE naw
05, 07, and 25 are w/o a doubt the 3 best madden games.
05 - Most balanced gameplay out of any Madden game, 05 did it right. After 05 it started going downhill because after 05 comes the vision cone era :(

Vince lombardi's, Mike Ditka's Bill Walsh's, and Joe Gibb's playbook. Imo next gen madden 25 is the best.
Bro you couldn't have said it any better. After 05 shit just went down the drain
2k got all that shit done way before madden did and they are just geting depresses me and I am still surpised that EA still has the license
Madden just geting now it makes me sad and I am still surprised that they have the license
Inert Brian 09 and 10 were the worst.
01-02 is where you see the big jump in my opinion, where you get the more fluid running style
madden 2005 is the greatest madden, the introduction of the hit stick was so big at the time.
Man this brings back alot of memories.
Madden 2001, the birth of the curse
is 12 really the best? i just bought 13 and i'm enjoying so far but do you recommend it?
I've had every Madden since 2000 and can say madden 10 was arguably the best one. Can't wait for 25 tho!
Madden 99 was the teenage year. It looked a lot better from the previous year. Its like puberty, it changed a lot.
04 for the soundtrack, 08 PS2 for the modes, 12 for the QOL changes.
COME ON BRO !!! i had madden 97 on ps1
4:32 ... It makes PERFECT SENSE!
My favorites are Madden 2005, Madden 2007, and Madden 25
I really like this video thanks :)
Man just looking at the grafix from 92 to madden 25. What a change!
LMAO Madden13 Has So Many Fuckibg Glitches ! Players Falling Over Each Other And Shit XD. But Madden 99 Is When Tha Games Graphics Started To Reach A Come Up...
I'd played Madden 92, in 92.
I was 17...wow, so much has happened in my life since then
Gosh all the old ones like from '02 to '04 had the best tackling animations. (In my opinion)
Madden 06 was the best. Loved the animations of qbs walking up to the line
Best Madden football 2009 and 10
I personally loved madden 12 because I had a REAL franchise mode, I wanted the micromanagement from 12 in 13's be a coach and it just wasn't there. Be coach mode seemed like a play the games, do the offseason, and do it all over again.
madden 06, 11, and 25 are my absolute favorites. Madden 11 is probably the one I play the most on the 360.
We came along way baby
Madden 08 and 12 are the best
Madden 2005 was the greatest football game ever made
Madden 06 and 12 were my favorites. side note: 2 Titans players have graced the cover
Tbh, 13 and 12 are my favorite. Mainly 12 bcuz of the different gamemodes and music
09 was the first one that looked real and it was cool that you get to replay the down
no wonder it was an interception at 5:37 Kristen Stewart threw it
Gary Quam
You mean Kordell Stewart.
Michael Hildreth yikes dude !! That was the joke
Awesome video!!
25 is an awesome game, there's great graphics and there's so much more game modes
Madden 06 without a doubt had the best faces the faces looked like real pictures on kinda real bodies!
Thanks for showing the Bills mad love
maddens come a long way in just the past 5 years
I think 2012-2013 is the most advanced in the gameplay in details. But 98-99 was pretty nice too.
Madden 92' the ambulance alone made it an awesome game :)
They took small things out that I loved when I was younger, like the tattoos, custom face editing for be a superstar, hiring agents, scouts and neck pads. Now the game seems monotonous to me.
I've been a madden fan from 08-13
It's funny how big of a jump there was in graphics around 99 or 00, but then it stalled out for so long
2002 had amazing graphics for the time and I loved playing as the ecko unlimited team
Madden 07 and Madden 12 were my favorites😃😃
ITS CRAZY BEEN PLAYING FOR 20 YEARS STARTED WITH SEGA NOW ON PS3
fav maddens 25, 05, 03, 09, all of them are good though, 03 was def when madden started getting really good and very addicting, 05 capitalized on the gameplay and player progression, 09 with soundtracks, 25 with features and overall gameplay, havent played the xbox one or ps4 versions yet though
I loved 07-08 so much!
my life flashed before my eyes when i watched this.... i need to get out more
06 was my favorite
Im 13 and i was born in 2000 and these graphics just make me feel old
Madden 09 on the Wii Was Da BOMB
madden 11 just was my first one and the best one you could knock the shit out of people
actually in 25 the crowd was slightly improved, but besides that from 13 and all before, yea thats true
I may go a little left field of allot of you guys. I have all the maddens from the 1st next gen (ps2) to the current next gen (360) I would have to say out of all the maddens i own I would have to rank MADDEN 07 at the top just because of the overall gameplay and run physics
#2 would be MADDEN 12 because thats when i felt madden actually took the time to pay attention to the message boards and the fans. and the fact they addressed the SUCTION TACKLING and made it more collision based. which is real football.
I would have said 05 at number 1 but i have never enjoyed watching a replay and saying to myself "yeah, thats real football" or "i could see (insert player name) making a play like that"
Impressive graphics for the 90s
Madden 03, Madden 08, Madden 10 and Madden 12 are my favorites
It's funny how in all of these videos we see the SNES version of 97 and 98... That's kinda like showing the Wii version of Madden 13 today.
PC and PS version of 97, 98 and 99 looked a whole lot more impressive than the SNES and N64 versions...
2012 tho? That was epic!!!!
I wish nfl 2k was still a thing
I really want all of those MADDEN NFL football games the all look awsome
u have madden 14! thats sick where did u get it?
