Fought like a true Jedi. I noticed you never really took offense at any point in these duels. Instead you let them mindlessly charge and attack you as you countered (sorta like Obi Wan Kenobi’s style). I would say this is probably the best way to fight in this particular game because with as many fights as you get in each level, you can’t really take offense all the time because you’ll lose a significant amount of health fighting that way.

Beautifully played. Nice to see how you dive into those duels - movement, smoothness, rhythm. especially second one. Outcast has this atmosphere and coherence that academy sadly lacked. My favourite sw game.

i so loved this game. thank you for allowing me to be a jedi at 15. I remember playing the demo before I bought it. The demo was a level not in the final game. And at the end of the demo you had to fight a light saber sith. As you stepped into the hangar it went to cut scene and DUN. DUN DUN.
Playing through this and gonna definitely do Academy as well. Wish there were more singleplayer focused mods, really impressed with the campaign. Even the forced shooter missions in the beginning have a neat quality. They're hard as hell and the designs are confusing but it feels good in its own way to get really good at blasting stormtroopers with a fast Doom-like playstyle.
I played a bit of Outcast SP not to long ago. I love the aesthetic. Kind of amazing that it never wears of. I start MP, I get the exact same feels as I did when I was a kid, it's amazing. Just the intro "daduuuuum TSSSSH!" (the Lucas Arts Logo and the Force Lighting). But I honestly feel like the SP campaign becomes a chore at some point. I could only play it to Cairn before I got bored. In my opinion the gun handling would need to be optimized a bit and the enemies either wiggling like it's Overwatch competitive or standing absolutely still annoys a lot. Using cover in the game, it feels more like you're doing something wrong and the weapon balancing is all over the place. And the weapons are way too much spam reliant. The puzzles could be more entertaining as well. It's a bit of an outdated formula that you can really feel. On the other hand I'm sometimes impressed at what the engine can actually do (like raindrops will occasionally hit the lightsaber and emit fog) I'm really keen to see what they're going to do with Overwatch 2 PVE because whatever we see there is probably what I envisioned Jedi Knight Co-Op Multiplayer to be. But even I can't tell if that's gonna be good or bad. (I know most people that think of Overwatch probably don't think of Jedi Knight, but something tells me that at the core these are similar when looking at the multiplayer). Like you literally have 2 Junkrat abilities in Jedi Knight, as well as Winston's weapon, med packs are still present, sniper is still present, you could potentially play as healer/Mercy etc.

I actually think there’s way too many flipping than actual lightsaber clashing in this game. It’s like people like the acrobatic tricks but not the actual methodical fencing. I do think Jedi Fallen Order does a better job keeping the fights grounded and more strategic. And if they allow you to do flips in Fallen Order then it should be LIMITED heavily with an energy/stamina bar. No more of this constant flipping backwards, sideways, forwards circus act. And no more OP force powers that was in Force Unleashed. Depict a good old fashioned, visceral, grounded duel like in the movies.
@@chrisblaze1484 This game did have methodical fencing, but you had to be skilled to do it. I've seen duels in MP from top ranking players with no flips at all, but all pacing, angle, timing and distance.
Academy is incredible but the simplicity of the single saber utilizing all 3 stances makes it more satisfying to win a duel. Plus there’s a lot of hidden acrobatics in outcast you wouldn’t know unless you really played around with it.

Saber locks happen when 2 Jedi perfectly time and strike eachother at the same exact time. Hence why medium yellow stance is the most balanced stance in terms of timing that locks on to both slow(red) and fast(blue) strikes a lot of times
They feel really similar so it shouldn't be too much of a problem. The singleplayer in Outcast I actually prefer, but there's three or so missions at the start before you get your lightsaber, and I know that some people find them frustrating. You can always use console commands to give yourself a lightsaber for those missions though, if you don't want to have to play without one
Arms and hands. Is there more dismemberment in Jedi academy? it feels the same? I wish legs could be dismembered as well at least since head dismemberment is asking for too much
After beating Jedi Survivor it made me immediately miss this game from my childhood. I just wanted the game to be over with since every combat encounter felt like just mashing buttons to hit your enemies with your light saber baseball bat and that's it. I cannot believe they still can't beat let alone match this game in terms of combat for over 20 years now. It's absolutely crazy to see the state of modern AAA gaming today and depressing seeing it decline year by year.
Couldn't agree more, you nailed it. Gaming is dying, it isn't sustainable. AAA games don't even release in a functional state anymore. We had a real chance in the 2000s, during the intersection of creativity and technology, to make a lot of great games. HL2, FEAR, Crysis, etc, it really seemed like developers were using our new access to technology to push the boundaries and make things that could never be made before. We were focusing on physics and AI and somehow over time we lost our way. We ended up with bigger explosions and more "cinematic" cutscenes but we never surpassed the attention to detail, the attention to gameplay, and the intractability we had during the mid 2000s.

SodaPopSD - i always used code at the very beginning of the game and played with lightsaber and force powers all the way :)
The game was made on the Quake 3 engine, so that's probably why it's Doom-like.

Nah, what we really need is a game that emulates the Revenge of the Sith video game fighting style. That game easily had the best lightsaber dueling.
