    Part of the reason I bought that gong for the gong hihats was to turn it into a flat ride. Its some old Zildjian gong/cymbal thing. Theres a hole to mount it on a stand, plus holes to mount it like a gong. Well, I didnt see much use in it in either configuration so I had it converted into a flat ride!

    At certain angles you can see it "wobble" as it vibrates. Makes it look like it's made of liquid.

    • @nickymooncymbals
      @nickymooncymbals 3 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      With truly handmade cymbals, you can control the amount of tension and having some flex in a pie like this is much preferable to the stiff, manhole cover vibe you get from ‘big cymbal’ 💫

    What I like the most about David is he's calming. Even when he plays; doesn't get too hype but you see it on his face that he is feeling the beat. In general, I don't believe a content creator has made me smile more while saying/doing so little as he does sometimes. And plus his beat choice is top tier, mans makes elevator music bops and I'm here for it.

    Can't tell if the converted cymbal was an improvement because it was so much quieter. Obviously the gong was trashy and loud and I thought, sounded good recorded.
    Gorgeous results visually.

    • @nickymooncymbals
      @nickymooncymbals 3 ปีที่แล้ว +51

      Freshly hand hammered/lathed cymbals take a few months to fully open up sonically - the bronze literally has to decompress and heal from the trauma of the cold work for a it to be able to fully vibrate 👍🏻👍🏻
