Hello Sweet Metalheads
I created this Riff with the intention of showing my guitar students how the same riff can be reinterpreted, adpted and changed to fit any style. By just changing rythm, techniques and elements you could tap into lots of different genres and subgenres, while playing the same melodies.

That "Black Metal" segment should have just been called "Amon Amarth metal" because it sounded EXACTLY like something from them. The clean tone with heavy chorus was awesome. Dark, looming, yet beautiful.

Don't think so.
It's not what you would hear in "traditional" Black Metal, but the technique is 100% BM, and the the whole thing, chord progresion and melody included, sounds straight out of any Melodic BM band like Dissection, Dawn, Sacramentrum etc.
Amon Amarth never did blast beats or multiple string tremolo from what I've heard, at least not in the 5 - 10% of their discography that I have listened to. Those things are however baseline techniques for 95% of all Black Metal bands out there.
It could sound like them if you changed the drums to do straight double bass instead of blast beats, and changed the guitar to do a more simple 1 string melody with less chord changes.

It'd be funny to go from speed metal to that really slow dirge or doom metal, like Type O Negative's Suspended in Dusk. But it would take forever to finish the progression!

I like where Thrash metal has more speed than Speed metal😂
I thought trad metal and NWOBHM were the same thing?
Trad (ex: Judas Priest) ist still close to Hard Rock. NWOBHM (ex: Iron Maiden) started incorporating Punk influences (speed etc).
Of course black metal 😅
The transition to Black Metal was pretty killer.
NWOBHM sounds the best! As does Death/Power Metal :D
