This interview is a big reminder that the golden age of hip hop is not a figment of our imaginations. Chef wears his heart on his sleeve. You hearing the voice of the culture from one it's finest/flyest✌💯

I'm 15 minutes in and all I've heard are stories of forgivness, and in the end, love. Mad respect for what the mans been thru. We are blessed to have eachother, and the WU.
I was actually in HDM in Rikers Island when the wu performed, it was fire, 1996,,all of them were there, ghost was the only one wearing a big gold chain , Rae had a Cuban on but it was tucked under his shirt, I remember saying he’s short in real life, I just thought that because he was my height, lol, but his vocal skills is crazy, he’s right everyone was on there best behavior because HDM was gladiator school at that time , people were getting cut and stabbed everyday, but no one wanted to fuck up the Wu performing, dirty bastard came over from the shock program , he was on a parole violation, I remember he performed a song he said he was coming out with but it never came out, the song went (put it in there butts…) lol.. referring to females, the female guards were tight at that song, they performed every song, I remember when they finished Rae Kwon passed right by me grilling everybody, I remember laughing to myself, I guess he wanted to show he was hard amongst criminals. Some guy next to me threw a t-shirt at him for his autograph, he signed it, dam that brings back memories, glad he still here because the 90’s in NYC was a war zone… I changed my life around and never looked back.
Yeh I'd still watch the movie for sure, but on this one I agree with Rza, there was too much that happend for it to be condensed into a 2 hour movie, it definitely needed a series. Maybe there could have been less ice in the whiskey though
I think specifically an Only Built For Cuban Linx flick would be insane. Especially knowing some of the fucked up shit that was going on at the time and them recording in Miami and Barbados balls deep in sniff and all that.
Best Vlad interview ever, one of the best out there period. Makes me want to read the book, and watch his version of the movie. If I had another kid, I'd name him Raekwon. I felt this.
Yo I watched every individual clip & had to watch the full thing right after it dropped. Raekwon a real legend in the game, nothing but respect for dude & the whole Wu tang clan 💯 dude made a 2 hour interview feel like a casual conversation, plenty of wisdom in the words he speak
I could watch rae talk for hours and hours and dont get tired, his whole demeanor, accent and way of talking makes me feel as if I lived in NY during the gritty grimy 80s era
Raekwon is one of the greatest rappers of all-time and a stand up individual who speaks his mind. Great interview overall and hope Wu-Tang Clan do great things in the future.
The lyrical contributions Rae and Ghost contributed to Hip Hop music STILL to this day (in my opinion) are not and have not been acknowledged or celebrated to the levels they deserve ! These guys came in with something that sounded like nothing you had EVER heard before And they didn't ask a single question in the process THIS shit is fly and we don't even care if you know it or not because WE know it! Which is in truth and in fact the very essence of Hip Hop music !
Imo Ghost influenced the whole "alternative" rap genre. Mack Miller, Action Bronson, Tyler The Creator etc... Ghost was one of the first with the flow where the words didn't actually matter, he experimented with rap song structure in way nobody else was doing. He don't get enough credit for that fr. No disrespect to Rae, he def the better rapper but Ghost's creativity is just unmatched.
This Raekwon interview is well worth the watch. I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing the first time I heard C.R.E.A.M, everything for me changed after that. Salute to the Chef! Oh and I'm glad I didn't hear Glad much but good on him for putting this interview out.
Rae’s such a great interview everywhere he goes. His storytelling is almost as iconic as his raps are. Just his voice in general is the sound of the Wu Tang Clan.
I grew up listening to the wu I still have original tapes. This interview was dope. Its good to see Chef doing good. Got a slang like no other. His story came across strong. Much respect
I love Raekwon's idea for a Wu Tang movie. He wanted it to be like a Scorsese-type film. That's amazing. Those mafia films are some of the best in cinema history
one of the best lyricist and rapper of all time. albums like only built for cuban linx and immobilarity influenced so many other rappers and had a tremendous influence on the game. big up to shallah raekwon

I was born in East New York Brooklyn and raised on Staten Island. When we moved from BK we moved to Park Hill, when the apartments were brand new. Many of the cats that Rae is talking about I grew up with them, C-Allah, the original knuckle game champ from Stapelton Billy Johnson(R.I.P) We moved to Mariners Harbor(Jungle Nilz) where the original emcees from Staten Island(Force MC'S) put our borough on the map in the late 70's, early 80's. The Force MC's later became the Force MD's, they're the true pioneers of hip-hop and R&B. Every project on the Isle had brothers that would fight each other all the time, I wasn't a street dude, but I was raised amongst the Thugs. Rest in peace to Mike and Barry Blue, K-Born, Lord Justice, Quadon, and many other brothers that didn't have the opportunity to grow old. Much respect to our borough, Staten Island aka the Isle of Stat, Shaolin.
Salute to the whole Clan to be able to speak openly, especially to one another. Not many crews can be honest with each other and it not be a total wrestle mania.✌🏾
I'm watching the Hulu series for the first time now and although compelling, I'm mildly irritated by the new slang they keep spittin'... like "my dude," "my G," "trash," and "fire." We weren't talking like that in the late '80s and early '90s.. That's all new millennium slang. But I guess they tried to make it relevant for the new generations..
What a dope interview. You can tell Raekwon is solid! It's refreshing to see his brand of authenticity and principle. A lot of wisdom in this interview, especially what he said about rza being a better manager of his emotions when compared to the rest of the guys. That line explains so much.
A dope Interview. The Chef is humble and down to earth. The saying he quoted -- "First time, shame on you, second time, shame on me" sums it up. WORD..... ☝🏻
