    He is so fun to watch. He makes you feel good. No one does that these days. A lot of "singers" today look angry or take themselves too seriously. They also depend too much on stage lights, smoke, fireworks etc. A good entertainer does not need those things. Louis didn't and that's obvious.

    It's just impossible not to smile when you hear ol' satchel-mouth in action. The man just radiates warmth, charm, humour and clearly loves entertaining. Add to that a world-class bravura trumpet style and a voice that is instantly recognisable by practically every living soul on the planet and you have the genius born in a brothel in New Orleans and died loved and respected by musicians and audiences the world over. Thank God for Louis.

    The best solo ever! So much soul...that's what made his playing different from the others. He picked out the best notes and phrases...he didn't vomit notes like most jazz players.

    • @JazzKeyboardist1
      @JazzKeyboardist1 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I am sorry your parents made you listen to jazz that you didn't like. The best part of the Mozart movie was the Emperor saying Amadeus played too many notes. Satchmo often played like a ballet master while other musicians like to play like a football game or a world record in the hundred meter dash

    • @medicineman1202
      @medicineman1202 9 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      My comment wasn't intended to offend jazz musicians, I have a great respect for jazz musicians as jazz happens to be one of my favorite genres of music. I was just pointing out that I prefer simple melodic lines versus note density which I hear from a lot of musicians particular in Jazz. That's not to say they are not talented it's just not my preference. The great Bill Evans even explains on a video how he built his solos on very elementary lines to keep true to the music. Now let me reiterate that this simple style is just preference and doesn't mean any other styles is less or more as the different audience likes different sounds. And my parents didn't force me to listen to jazz music, I chose to explore all types of music on my own. In fact I've even taken history of mics classes in college and probably know more about music history than you do, but that is not my purpose for posting comments.

      +SMARTTECK cocaine would have destroyed him. No, there is no cocaine found in his life. YOu would sweat the same way if you had to perform under very hot lights and giving it all. I might add that cocaine was legal in that period. Heck try blowing into a trumpet like that, you will be in a sea of sweat in front of your audience.

    Even to this day the things he played on the trumpet are still top notch all these years later. Can’t get any better.
    I believe Wynton Marsalis said that he never could find one recording where Louis Armstrong ever played a sour note. Even though he didn’t have “formal” training he was a true musician and heard everything he played In his head. That is a true gift from god.

    Louis was one of a kind. So talented and a kind hearted soul. As a kid of 8 i remember running around the house singing this song and trying to imitate him. Why? I don't know except to say that this song was destined to become just an old favorite tune from way back when.
