- In this video, we'll take a look at the 2023 LEGO Marvel CMF Series 2 and compare them to the Series 1 LEGO Marvel minifigures from 2021.
Series 2 is a brand new collection that releases on September 1, 2023 for $4.99 each. LEGO sent me these early to review, but of course, all thoughts are my own.

The thing I didn't like about series 1 was the amount of Captain America themed figures
Yes. Great series but 3 of them had the captain america shield piece.... and most of the figures were red or blue themed. series 2 much more variety

I agree with most of them but the Bucky in my opinion was better. You can use his head and hair for so many customs it’s crazy! But I am getting nostalgia from the old figs!

Excited for the next one! Since the use these to do the Disney plus shows, I bet we’ll get a nice daredevil, maybe Muse or bullseye. Maybe Rio/Death, and Wiccan, ironheart? Hood? Mephisto?? Maybe another what if or x man
Those are all pretty good choices
Series 1 had a better distribution of shows, but the main problem was we already had a ton of variants of most of the characters. If we had gotten a character exclusive to their shows like Mobius, Karli and Renslayer series 1 would have been a bit more diverse. When series 2 was announced, I assumed we would get Hawkeye, Moonknight, Ms Marvel, She Hulk and maybe Werewolf By Night and Secret Invasion. The 12 figure limit definitely demonstrates the limitations. Wondering if the missed shows will get something one day
I mean Loki is getting a second season so maybe some more characters from that show will pop up next time.

Series 2 mini figs have so much detail omg
I think in terms of the quality of the figures the series are on par with one another but I think that series 1 has a slightly superior selection of characters
Pros of CMF 1:
- More consistency between the on-air series and the figure election.
- Be the first CMF series of Marvel to be made after 9 years on the market.
- More unique accessories for the characters (Throg and Sam's wings for example).
- Specially made for MCU fans.
Cons of CMF 1:
- No new characters, almost everyone are a new version of already existing faces.
- Not so astonishing or brilliant designs in some characters (Monica, Loki, Sylvie, T'Challa Star-Lord and Bucky).
Pros of CMF 2:
- Almost every character are new, debuting 7 new faces for our collections.
- The return of the X-Men.
- The two weakest characters of the roaster (Echo and Goliath) are so detail in comparison with the other characters from the last wave (adding Gamora, who look better than the previous named from series one).
- Made for both comic book and MCU fans.
Cons of CMF 2:
- Inconsistency between the characters and the on-air series.
- Probably the fact that some characters hadn't been spotted or irrelevant, not many would care about them.
Con for both:
- Lacking of villains.

I honestly think both series are on equal footing when it comes to quality and character choice. I just think that series 2 is slightly handicapped by having a lot of the shows not be released yet.
Also its funny that tchalla and storm were paired up since in the comics they get married lol
The new series' figures are slightly obscure but flashy and bright compared to the previous one
The 11th figures being Tchalla and Storm is definitely a reference to their marriage in the comics 💯
Spiderman and Goliath are both what if characters too just to add to your conspiracy 😂

I just hope Daredevil is included in the next one. He's in She-Hulk and Echo as well as in Spider-Man No Way Home (although, out of costume), but he's not included in the cmf series. I'd also like Kingpin since he appears in Hawkeye and in Echo too.
I wish I could’ve gotten series 1 there’s so many of my favorite characters there that I still want to this day
FYI the head you had for T’Challa is actually not from the cmf but from the mech set. Just something I noticed

I think series 2 is the superior series. Generally the characters are more detailed than the first series, and while the first series may have some more iconic characters, it didn’t have a character like Monica. She felt like a waste of a slot because her outfit was very plain looking and a better representation of her was going to be in a future set, whereas Characters like Mobius and John Walker were completely passed up. Echo may not be desirable because of the character’s lack of impact, but her detail and leg mold is actually stellar.
Idt we needed a John Walker since we had so many Cap-style figures already but a Mobius would have been amazing (I caved and got a knockoff of him haha)
If you would have told me ten years ago as a lego marvel obsessed kid that one day we would get two lego marvel cmfs based on tv shows with wolverine and a zombie captain America, my mind would be blown
I think series 2 is better mostly cause they are new and have new cool parts and minfigures. But that’s my opinion

I always thought that the sinestro hair looked better for a Hugh Jackman wolverine than the original joker hair as it looks a bit goofy, but I’m not sure if it’s better for a comic style wolverine
Great comparison video Johnathan, I prefer series 2 to series 1. The results were 7-5 to series 2! My favourite CMF from the first series is Falcon, the second series it’s Moon Knight.
I believe the reason they used that hair for Wolverine is because the vampire hair was discontinued. cant confirm though
How is there not Daredevil???
The show hasn't been released yet but if they keep up the pattern then maybe next year if they make cmf series 3 daredevil could be included
The face for Star Lord T'challa is actually not the official face, it's actually a custom printed face not the official lego made face.

Does series 2 feel a little more random then the other series
Both are pretty neat sets but series 2 is definitely my favourite
I finally got series 2.. so now I can do my rounds of reviews.
Beast is by far my favorite one out of these
Something weird I noticed seeing the Sylvie and Kate Bishop ones next to each other was that each of their facial expressions was more suited to the opposite character.
Isn’t that original hairpiece they used for Wolvie no longer in production? I think the one they used for him is fine

Series one should get a bonus point for coming in bags rather than boxes

What's also ironic is that I like 7 figures from Series 1 and whatchya know, 7 figures from series 2

I think a huge part of what makes series one look better at a glance is the detail and color variety. There are 3 almost entirely white figures in series 2 and a fourth that's primarily white. Beast, Agatha, and Werewolf by Night are all amazing figures, but each of them has one primary color that dominates its design. Almost every figure in series 1 has 2-3 very noticeable colors, and details that you don't need to look closely to see. Series 1 also includes characters from 4 shows whereas 2 has characters from 7 (8 if you consider that Echo's design is almost certainly based on her own show). The variety makes it feel a little less cohesive, even though the overall quality is more or less the same.
Also, I think series 1 has a few more top tier figures. IMO Wanda, Sam, Loki, Zombie Steve, and T'Challa are some of the best marvel figures we've ever had hands down. Whereas in series 2 I'd really only consider Moon Knight and She-Hulk to be top tier (and even She-Hulk is lacking in the accessories department). Both series are so amazing, though. Gonna keep on buying these so that Lego knows there's demand for them.
tchala had the mech head by the way and can you update the thor and avenger shhow cases with the new head and hair from series 2 please
Star lord should have one that one im sorry but he had a new (at the time) hairpiece, Awsome side leg printing and a new mould of a unique star lord helmet (which the original version has been in retirement for years). Storm is great and it really is awsome to see her, but she only cones with one new piece being her hair piece which is awesome (her cape is cool but its just a recolor) she has no side leg printing and doesn't come with any swappable parts.

So I gotta admit in 2021 i was very new to collecting lego I didn't know there was a CMF series so it annoys me but i never got any of the original CMF ones but i've started collecting series 2

Did you get them? I bought three boxes for my brother and he got Storm, the alternate Moon Knight, and Kate Bishop. They are great, but we wanted Wolverine lol.
That being said, the boxes were already marked so I knew what I was getting. Nevertheless, there wasn't any Beast or Wolverine available.

I like series 2 better than series 1, but I'm still sad I missed out on that zombie cap and zombie survivor spider man
I just want to point out, it takes two extra sylables to say "double u" than just say "win".
Gonna be honest, I saw all sorts of rumors for a marvel phase 4 minifigure series several years ago, but I never realized until a few days ago that this first series actually released. I thought the marvel series that we got recently was the first one and the one all the rumors were talking about several years ago

Agreed with every choice but one. Not a chance captain Carter beats this Beast minifigure. I wouldn’t even call it remotely close. But this is all subjective. Nice video - was a lot of fun!
I only dont like the hawkeye because i got four in a row after one purchase
Just realized how similar they are, S1 got us the most detailed spiderman, while S2 got us most detailed wolverine. S1 got us black star lord, s2 got us black ant man. I personally prefer S2 just coz im missing a hawkeye and i loved both hawkeye and Kate, and the other characters just fill out my collection more. Anyone else notice how wolverines leg printing shifted to the right has has yellow expose on his inner thigh?
CMF 2 has better character selection in my opinion. I’m a bit biased because I wasn’t a big fan of What-If?, and majority of the CMF 1 minifigures came from that show.
It's funny, you talk about the "Zombie Cap vs Echo" comparison as a clear win for Zombie Cap and not feeling a connection to Echo, I feel the exact opposite - I thought Echo was cool in Hawkeye and the zombie What If was the weakest of the series, so while I think the Zombie Cap minifig has a lot of cool details, I would have judged this matchup the other direction.
Not to mention, as others have brought up, there's already 3 other characters who are very closely related to Captain America and come complete with shield, did we really need the one zombie in the minifig pack to be Cap as well?
Since there were so many Cap shield figures in set 1 already I would have picked a different what if character for that series.

I was excited for series 1 because I just wanted marvel figs but series 2 has figures I have really wanted. I already paid 30 dollars for moon Knight and Mr Knight. I also love the x men and werewolf by night
3:13 I would actually disagree. I would say that the winter soldier was the weakest from Wave one

They're about the same for me. The X-Men make series 2 better overall. Fave from each would be TVA Loki and Moonknight
Series 1 has a much better selection of really awesome characters. Almost all of them are must haves. Even though Werewolf by night is mcu it feels so removed from everything else and I don't believe anyone was asking for an Echo show. The X Men figs are great but don't really feel like they belong here. Maybe Goliath will seem cooler after we see season 2 but for now he's not terribly exciting. Also I feel like Hawkeyes hair could have been better. The must haves for me are She Hulk, Moon Knight, Kate and Wolverine.
Echo was also in Hawkeye so she'd probs be there regardless.

To be honest I prefer the first series over the second one cause one they looked more realistic and detailed 2 they were a bit more colorful 3 great accessories as well and 4 they are more memorable and 5 the packs made it easier to find the ones i wanted The only downside was that they had 4 Captain America shields series 2 is good but the only ones i did like were moon knight, Mr knight, Wolverine, beast and storm every one else were mid at best

Honestly the only reason I think series 1 wins for me because the characters are more iconic. Series 1 has Wanda, Captain America, Bucky, Loki, A spiderman figure and a really good T'challa. Meanwhile series 2 only has hawkeye and wolverine (you could count Moonknight/Kate, but they aren't as big names compared to the series 1 characters)
And beast and storm.
Don’t leave out Beast and Storm. The X-Men are hugely iconic, probably moreso than any other characters in both CMFs aside from Spider-Man. Also Star-Lord T’Challa is not an iconic character.

how is the werewolf better than bucky? there's about a million other figures that look like that especially in the collectible series, bucky is way more of an iconic character and like you even mentioned he is useful in many customs.
I say series 2 is better. Series 1, although great, has more problems with their characters than series 2. Wanda’s headpiece should have been duel molded and not have had the one hole 4+ cape, Monica was a useless inclusion, there were too many what if figures, white vision should NOT have had a 4+ one hole cape, and silvie’s head is too happy. Series two doesn’t have much criticism, all the figures are good(even echo has amazing printing), there are more figures from more shows than just what if, and moonknight had a two hole cape-so it’s automatically a 10/10
