Dearest Donald I am just learning you were having health issues. I am glad you are back and hope that you are better. You bring such a positive spirit to TH-cam gardening videos. You remind me of my grandad, a former sharecropper, salt of the earth type of gentleman. He is no longer with us, but I am thankful I've discovered you and subscribe. Thank you for taking time to answer my gardening questions last year. I decided to forgo gardening this season, but still follow your videos.
Thank you so much for sharing your wisdom and time with us. I am 10x the gardener because of you. I also learned the best way to lift a lawn mower and sharpen blades and 100 more things. I hope your health improves, it is good to see you again. Hailing from South Carolina. Brandon
Even though I grew up with farms all around me, I never farmed or gardened, but always loved the farming community. Lots of tobacco and corn where I grew up in North Carolina. There is something so pure and enjoyable, about watching what you have done over the years. Loved watching Lucy help, too! Beautiful dogs! I only became aware of your videos last year, and am so glad I did, as I have really enjoyed them. I was sorry to hear of you having some medical issues as of late; I sincerely hope that your health improves. Maybe, if you are feeling up to it, you could make some more of your cooking videos...you know your way around the kitchen, as you are obviously a good cook as well! Godspeed sir, have a great summer, and thank you again for the wonderful videos.
Good to see you in another video. I'm in the same boat, loads of phosphorus and potassium in my soil, but little nitrogen. I've been using ammonium sulfate, but will maybe look for calcium nitrate next time. Happy spring gardening.
Glad to see you my friend. I have been missing your informative videos. Hope all is well with you and yours. It has been kinda wet here in North Mississippi. I have some nice looking Top Pick PHP and my sweet corn is about 3 inches tall, but it has been too wet to work the small garden.
Same here with lots of rain and wind but the plants came through in pretty good shape. Was lucky to have lost only one squash plant. Hope you have a great season.....Donald
Ms Judy , I agree .Mr Donald Thank you sir for another good video. You sure do have some good looking mater plants.I hope you have a good garden & a good summer.I enjoyed your video.
Was able to plant earlier this year, seeing more and more small tomatoes every day. If the temperatures continue like this it’s going to be a good crop…..Donald
Hey Bob, Recently had some bad weather, lots of rain, wind and flooding. Was lucky the water drained pretty quickly with no serious problems here at home. Hope you have a great season…..Donald
Donald, now the the holiday festivities and snow have settled down here in Charleston SC, I would like to extend a Joyous wish for a happy Christmas and great New Years to you and your family. Hope all is well.
Hey Michael, we’ve been getting some cold temps down here which didn’t help those late planted onions, hope they make it. Wishing you and yours the best…..Donald
You know, its not all about the information. You are Entertaining. People will watch every video you upload even if you just plant tomatoes in every video! We have a fish camp in LA and head through your neck of the woods on our way. If you ever want to collaborate on a vid let me know!
Enjoy your informative videos. Our tomatoes are starting to come in. We have some showing a slight orange color now. Nothing better than a summer tomato sandwich!! Keep up the good work and congrats! Looks like you have shed some weight. I am working on that too and have lost 30 pounds this year.
Hows you health been holding up lately Donald? Daniel and I were just talking about that get together we attended a few years ago down there. You know he is engaged to a Cambodian girl now!!! Time flies my friend! Chuck
Hey Chuck, time does fly by. My grandson is now a Marine stationed in California and granddaughter becoming an RN. Still having trouble getting around like I used to…..Donald
I had the opportunity to plant earlier this year and it’s showing by the number of small tomatoes on the plants. Since I shot the video there are at least 4 times the amount. If the weather cooperates I think it’s going to be a good season. Thanks, glad it was helpful…..Donald
At 0:19 you have a sucker on your mater plant. Don't worry I won't tell anyone. I find them on my maters every now and then. Question? I have an old bag of calcium nitrate that got moisture in it and got hard as a rock. I can still use it since its water soluble, right? What would the webcajun / bayou gardener do?
Yes, I've had suckers make maters sometimes. As for my calcium nitrate block, I'm gonna try to break it up and use it. Thanks for the help. We just had those high winds come through here in south Georgia. Had to steak my squash plants they are heavy and were blowing all over the place! Take care and happy gardening!
You also can add some K for the fruit itself. You might be waiting for a reason that I don't know yet LOL. We sure did miss ya'll at the Get together last Saturday............ We had a blast ~!~!
Donald, i have tomatoes that are almost 6 feet tall, lot of green and lot of flowers but no tomatoes.. we still have about 3 weeks of warmth left in central valley california, will side dressing with Calcium Nitrate solve the problem >?
Donald, Could you recommend a wireless microphone for my video making. I'm not having much luck . I'm using a Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Cell Phone for videoing right now. Thanks, Bobby & Vickie
my tomatoes are not diong well at all. Hit them with 15-0-0 a week or so ago and they are "greening up". I sure wish you'd come spend a couple of days with me! Feed you real good and plenty of ice cold adult beverages!
how do i get my soil checked? I used 10-10-10 about 2 months ago when i planted my tomato plants. they have out grew my cages, they look bunched up and there hanging out of the top. they have been full of flowers for about two weeks but there are no tomatoes. any ideas?
To check your soil you’ll need to send a soil sample off for testing. One of the simplest to use that I’ve found is the “Soil Savvy Soil Test Kit”. Patience, you’ll start seeing little tomatoes soon…..Donald
I had tomato plants that had curled leaves again this year and I had added fish immersion and Epsom salts II had started season with osmocote. any way you might have suggestions for next year?I did hav tomatoes but very few
My disease control is simple, when I have a plant that doesn’t look too healthy I pull it up before the rest get sick. I don’t use any type of preventative sprays, at least not yet…..Donald
Epson salt would be something you’d add to the fertilizer. Naturally it would depend on the results of a soil sample but probably a tablespoon to the gallon would be a good amount to start with...Donald
So pleased to see you in the garden again. I was afraid you had retired. You are a natural presenter. Best wishes from the UK.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed......Donald

I did but now there are other issues.....Donald
Mulch under those bad boys. The constant moisture will assist your plants with absorbing nutrients continuously.
Thanks for the tip.....Donald
Please update us on what's going on we miss you
I love it! I can tell by your experience that my phosphorus is probably too high as well. Will know shortly. Gracias amigo!
I discovered that after using the Soil Savvy Test Kit. Will try not to add anymore until the levels go down some…..Donald
Do you put down all your phosphorus and potassium at preplant?
Stay busy I want to see lots of plants this summer.
Should have an update sometime this weekend......Donald

May not be correct but I would try to break it apart and use it. Don't suckers make tomatoes too? .....Donald

Side dressing certainly won’t hurt but I’m not sure that’s the issue. If you have flowers you should start seeing small tomatoes soon…..Donald
Donald, Could you recommend a wireless microphone for my video making. I'm not having much luck . I'm using a Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Cell Phone for videoing right now. Thanks, Bobby & Vickie
I could be wrong but I don't think they make wireless mics for cell phones.....Donald
Hi Donald, Bought a new Camera, Canon HFR 800. It has a wireless mic input. What wireless mic would you recommend?
I have a Sennheiser wireless microphone. You can check them out online at B&H photo…..Donald
my tomatoes are not diong well at all. Hit them with 15-0-0 a week or so ago and they are "greening up". I sure wish you'd come spend a couple of days with me! Feed you real good and plenty of ice cold adult beverages!

The raised beds are only 4’x32’ with a faucet next to em so watering isn’t an issue. Glad you enjoy the videos…..Donald
Organic of course????
Not organic. I use commercial fertilizer and liquid Sevin when needed…..Donald
