Thanks, Jonnie. Lots of good info. Just brought home a new-to-me 2018 FT, mid roof, 148 yesterday. We’ve got it cleaned out, ready to build. There’s SO much to consider!! I appreciate your videos! 🌸
Happy to help. 😊
This was a very informative video. For people that are in the market for a van. Keep knocking out those awesome van builds.
I've got a 2017 Promaster with swivel seats. You just have to build out that step 10 or 12 inches toward the back and curve it forward at the side door. Very comfortable then.
I just did this on my last build and added it to mine. It is much better. Great idea
Jonnie, I would love for you to have your mechanic do the same side by side comparison discussing mechanics. Cost and ease of repairs, dependability etc. I would love to max out the roof on the Promaster with solar but dang that driver's side blind spot and the dangling feet on the swivel seat would be hard to deal with.
Thanks for taking your time to do this. Very helpful. 👍👍
Awesome, you are very welcom
Great practical comparison from a van builder perspective. Lots of good info to consider when choosing.
Thanks Deborah
Thanks a bunch for sharing your knowledge Jonnie! You go beyond most content creators! ❤🚐
awe, thank you so much
Thank you, Very helpful.
Thank you
I’m sticking with my low roof van ❤❤ Johnnie is the best builder!!!
Thank you friend
Great video! Lots of facts
Thank you
Glad you know how to build with both of them.
Great video Jonniel You forgot, from my bed I can start my Transit, or honk lol. And she (van) texts me if I get a low battery, tire, etc.
That is some kind of relationship you two have. Mine don't do that
Wouldn't it be awesome if someone made a van with all the best features of the transit and promaster!?
could you imagine.
Excellent video! Thank you for sharing so much helpful information. Your insight is very much appreciated ❤
I just bought a 2015 high roof Promaster. Can't wait to get started on my build.
How cool. Good luck to you
we built our DC fuse panel connection to our power bank based on your video!
Hey Jonnie! This is a good apples to oranges comparison!
Thank you Mark
Great information 😊🚐 it’s those little things that can make such a difference 🤩
We are looking at Transits so excited for this video. Your builds are always amazing Jonnie!
Wow that was very helpful. Lots of details. I’m still on board for a Transit. Thanks!
Thank you so much Sonya
Great video, very useful information!!
Thanks Kelly
Informative. Never realized so much to consider with an empty van 😮
Thank you. Some things can make a difference.
Very informative. I do a lot of backcountry adventures/hiking. Unfortunately the Pro Master won't work... I need AWD/4X4 that the Transit offers to get me 50+ miles off road
Completely understand that. Enjoy every minute of it and safe travels.
I have a Ford cargo van. Love it so far.
Yup nice and small compressor and fits in my glove compartment 😃
Perfect!
I have a Promaster 118” that didn’t come with the headliner shelf standard. Doesn’t have electric mirrors either 😢. This might have been a dealer’s special order. Bought it during the van shortage and it was the only new one in the state, I jumped on it and love it. I’m doing a no build because I suck at building and am too poor for a builder! 😄. I put in a swivel and am considering a fold down foot rest but it’s not the same as having a nice floor there, I agree. Sucks.
oh I didn't think of the 118 WB. I have only worked on the 159WB. Yep, I agree it sucks.
@@JonniesJourney I’ve never seen another one so idk if none of them come with it, or mine is just special ☺️ but all 118” are low roof and maybe that’s why. I’d love to have the shelf but I also love being able to almost stand up in the cab, and ofc, being able to stand up fully with room to spare in the back.
Its not standard its a $295 option on all promasters. The bigger shelf is standard but the smaller lower one for sunglasses etc. is not
@@2o3ief I found out neither is standard for the 1500, unfortunately.
Thank you for the comparison.
8:39 Hahaha I love your lil giggle 😂
🤗🤭♥️
It's not what but who makes the best van build. Transit or Promaster, Jonnie makes the best van build!!
Fact!
awe, you are so awesome you Transit owner you.
I bought a Ram ProMaster, because the dash sat lower than the Transit. It made all the difference of making me feel like I was sitting higher. Actually, the Transit sits you higher, but it doesn’t feel like it! I feel more in control in the Ram!
Thanks!
Anita
This video was interesting. A friend of mine just got a transit and she building it out herself.
Lots of information on this video. Thanks.
thank you so much
This was a great video. One day if I get the chance to I would love to do a van build. Thanks for all the information.
Thanks for watching.
Loved it so informative
Thank you so much
Thanks for sharing.
Definitely! Super helpful!
Great comparison
I shopped around before I found my Promaster van. I chose it for the height and the engine. Cost for parts and repairs made the difference for me.
Definitely much cheaper on repairs than the Sprinter
Ford vs ram is a question ive been working on, thanks for sharing your knowledge
happy to help.
Awesome! Very interesting and informative!
Thanks for the pros and cons but you never said unless I missed it what is you over all final decision. What you prefer working on.
Transit or Pro Master. I plan on doing this in a few years.
I like the front wheel drive of the Promaster. It is also wider. I would say for me the Promaster. The transmission issue seems to be a thing of the past. As a builder with so many under my belt now, the Transit is an easier build except the heater. You have to drop the gas tank for that.
very cool. When i had a Casita travel trailer i did a comparison video. People loved it!!
Interesting to see the differences.
So is the part above those windows that's hard to drill in so hard because it's part of the safety crash area stuff or something? It's really interesting that there is so much difference between the two. That's a pretty neat little air compressor. We do have one that we take overlanding. We have to have something that will air up 4 big ol' truck tires after trail riding. But that little one would be great for filling up a tire losing air while you're on the go. Dangling feet "I Hate That" LOL you crack me up. I dunno if it would bother me or not. Possibly if I was living in it. I agree that it seems like one would be easier to install windows than the other. You sure did a pretty thorough comparison between the two brands. I like hearing what you like and don't like.
Thank you so much Felix. There are so many differences between the two. I appreciate the full watch as always.
Awesome... Hope to be a winner...
I have the Ford transit, I love the way it handles.
I bought a ProMaster because of you!
and you rocked the build on it too.
Are you happy with it so far? Was it used or new at purchase? I'm really debating between the two but there are a LOT more Promasters available (used) than there are Transits. I keep reading that this is because Promasters have a lot of expensive issues and aren't reliable on the road. That makes me so nervous as a buyer of a used van so I'm looking for as much real-world experience as I can find before making a choice and laying down my hard-earned cash.
Very helpful!
Thank you
Great Comparison Video! Thanks! It would be a Ram for us!
Thank you Steve.
Let’s get this Bluetti
Hello Jonnie 👋
I am here for the Bluetti. 😂😂😂🎉🎉🎉Watched before but didnt comment.
I LOVE my transit!!
I always watch. I could never afford either vehicles.
Width and under height are a plus for the pro master as well as the overhead storage.
My biggest concern is which one is more mechanically reliable and has the best saftey ratings.
Which has mechanical parts readily available?
I want a sound vechile before building it out.
Any thoughts out there from people who have these vechiles?
Very informative, and well presented. There is certainly no clear winner. For me it came down to the all wheel drive and service. The other thing that I really did not like and not mentioned is you sit a lot higher in the Pro Master. I hated that. The transit is just more comfortable to drive to me. And the new models now come with a 12 inch screen. Combine that with the 360 camera and it's in an awesome experience backing the thing up. Much safer. I think you could always fill in the area around the door when you're building the floor, although I don't think most people do that. And there is hardend steel above the door. Use the built in riv-nuts. You will burn up a lot of drill bits otherwise. That is done for safety reasons to save lives.
The biggest plus for me with the Pro Master is it has a Super High Roof available, it means about 7ft of height. I hope the Ford Transit gets it someday. It doesn't seem like a big deal from the High Roof but after seeing it, it really is amazing if you're really planning to live in your van.
I've driven a Transit a few times.
It is a very comfortable ride.
Hello Everyone 👋
hey Laura
🤗
Crossing fingers! 🤞
❤
They each have their pluses and minuses with regard to build out. For me, it comes down to the Dodge being a Dodge...I work in automotive and Stellantis has been slowly killing Dodge all while Dodge dealers aren't helping. Besides, front wheel drive in the Dodge is something I would avoid. I went with an AWD Transit 350HD high roof and feel it has a far superior design for only slightly higher cost.
😎
Hit that 👍 up plz and tu🎉🎉🎉🎉
thanks Gracie
That inflator is so hand!
I love it
🌸💗🌸💗🌸💗🌸💗🌸💗🌸💗🌸
Thank you so much for the support to the channel. I appreciate it.
For me the Ram looks 10x better
That on is the super high next to a midroof transit
The Transit is way better than the Pro master. Plus cheaper to service.
I have never had to get my Promaster serviced, so I wouldn't know facts on repair costs. Thanks for watching.
Two words about the Ford. Wet belt!
@@JonniesJourney Then you Promaster must be brand new. Just wait. The repair bills are coming and Fiat will not save you. I have had excellent service from my Ford Transits. None of them never need more than an oil change , Tires and regular maintenance. Never had a breakdown and I am not a Ford Fan. But Chevy has nothing big enough to offer.
My 2020 Transit 250 had 186000 miles, no rust and the worst thing to happen to it beyond regular maintenance was that pasenger tail light burnt out.
So I bought a newer bigger one. IT is Very nice.
@@ghunt9146 I am not sure what that means but to quote a phrase " Dem sounds like Fighten words ! " Your Promaster is a Fiat. (doors wide open and lets anybody in.) FIX IT Again Tony ! or Fubu Italian Auto Truck or Fresh Italian Auto Trashcan. FIAT is Italian for Yugo. I am Italian and I would never buy a Fiat.
I know all the FORD acronyms already so Do not waste your time. I am not a Ford fan. But their vans do their job well.
Its not a Chrysler. Chrysler can not stand on their own two feet.
@@mrgcav not me. Got the correct post.
I don't trust Chrysler engines and transmissions.
She talks about framing a van when hers is still bare and unfinished. Looks like a design by a blind man. Than she talks about the driver side wiring and how you "Can do nothing about them." FALSE I moved mine. Its a big project . This person has no skills in van design.
@@TransitVan350 where can we see your videos on how to move the wires?
It is obvious you are here trolling or you would know that neither of these vans are mine. I have designed many beautiful builds and one of them just won the best award at the Van Nationals. You are correct, you can move the wires but with good building skills you won't need to. Ford could do better with those wires though and everyone but you agrees with that.
Jonnie is a great designer and builder. I hope you check out her other videos.
My husband and I hired Midwest Van builders to create our tiny home on wheels, which is a Promaster. We live full-time in our dream van which Jonnie was the artist and creator. We are thankful every day for her building experiences. Sooo, to answer your comment, She does know what she is doing.😊
@@Vanderella I personally do not do videos. You attempt to ridicule is only making your self less attractive. I know a hack when I see one.
You are not a professional and do not have any training to teach. You mean well but fall short of the mark.
