    The discussion toward the end of the interview about meeting our greatest fear - whatever it is - is what I call the Original Wound (OW). The most common ones are abandonment, unworthiness, a sense of being wrong, inadequate, etc. Our unique original wound is clearly visible in the breath and very fabric of our whole life story and it is also where our greatest gifts lie. The original wound represents the moment in time where we believed that we successfully separated from God/Source and the seemingly endless nightmare of illusion began. The reason it is vitally important to meet our original wounds is that our ability to truly be of divine service will be crippled if we don't. Angelo, I just want to say that I've been a huge fan of Gangaji for about a decade and I've never seen anyone "dance" with her in an interview quite so consciously as you did 🌹⚡👏

    Fantastic thank you.. have read Gangajji’s books and followed her for years, and hours and hours of papajji too, including others as well… I remember being about 5 years old sitting digging in my sandpit and felt so desperately miserable… in my language of now it was “is this fucking it?” later on sitting on my window sill at age 6 looking out watching a man go by walking his dog, and just felt this is what life is..? All my life I had been depressed and lost and confused… but had various glimpses..

    Thanks for exposing me to so many wonderful people and their unique ways of expressing. Appreciate you both. These conversations are so beautiful and wholesome man.
    My thoughts try to taint it by attempting to grasp ‘it’ and end up over complicating everything but I guess that’s just part of the seeking. The thing that seems to be most sticky here is doubt. It seems to have more pull than other types of thoughts. Most often in the form of questioning whether I’m inquiring the right way into who I am. I’ve heard you say there’s really no wrong way to do this process, and yet the conditioning has more pull than the ability to surrender the doubt. Im somewhere between feeling inadequate and having faith that this will clarify on its own terms

  • @lucyhartman1501
    @lucyhartman1501 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    A very pleasant interview. It should be stated that there really is no such thing as "transmission".
    If Ramana's name is going to be brought up, then we have to look at his actual teachings.
    For him, you are already the Self. This can't be "transmitted" or given. Therefore, Papaji wasn't "handing down" something he "got" from Ramana.
    In Avaita Vedanta, it's a done deal that the Self is already present and complete. What Papaji's Neo Advaita did however was to ignore that work still has to be done. The practices Ramana stressed were to eradicate the vasanas that occluded, or covered the Self (they weren't to become something that you weren't already) So, looking at the history of Neo Advaita, it ignored the neccesity of these practices which left a lot of Papaji people just "thinking" they were Self realized.
    It is good news! That you're already "It!" But just grasping that intellectually, or agreeing with it or believing it, isn't Self realization.
    I would suggest people interested in this general subject to take a deep dive with Ramana's teachings, and they'll see that indeed there is work to be done, you're not yet literally "free".

    • @SimplyAlwaysAwake
      @SimplyAlwaysAwake  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Transmission indeed happens. Sure you’re the Self, everyone is the Self, but fat lot of good that does you to know it if you haven’t realized it. So how does one realize it? Well one good way is to spend time interacting with someone who has. There are many reasons this works. Why do you think so many people gathered around Ramana, Papaji, Buddha, etc etc etc? That isn’t to say that the role of inquiry is not just as important, bc it definitely is. Transmission is quite like Tolle describes in that placing a flaming log by another flaming log it tends to catch on fire. At some point it burns on its own.

    • @lucyhartman1501
      @lucyhartman1501 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@SimplyAlwaysAwake It can "feel" like transmission, but such wording implies lack, and that someone special has something you don't, and that they can "give" it to you (ending your lack).
      "Resonance" would be a better word.
      When you put one ringing tuning fork next to a still tuning fork, the still one will start to ring. Nothing has been "added" to the still tuning fork, it just starts to ring because of resonance.
      It's good to hang around people that have actually realized the Self (if you can find them!) but I do think it's important to bust the myth of some kind of "line of transmission" or special "lineage" from Ramana (to Papaji, to Mooji or whomever etc. etc.).
      "Jnana is given neither from outside nor from another person." - Ramana Maharshi
      All a teacher can do is to help remove obscurations covering what is already there in full.
      So, it may just be semantics, but I think clearing it up helps people to not put spiritual teachers on a pedestal, with the notion that they have a magic elixir they can "give" you (that you don't already have in full)

    Ramesh Balsekar would always ask people what are you seeking. He would then often say , what you are looking for is happiness or peace of mind. Papaji was a devotee of Ramana Maharshi and didn’t have a formal teaching that was clear. He would just say stop which is pointing to non doership. Such a powerful video. Gangaji transmits via her presence for me. No advice is ever given just an invitation to trust yourself … your inner life force.

    • @SimplyAlwaysAwake
      @SimplyAlwaysAwake  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I might say it’s far less about what someone teaches as such, do they offer specific pointers or practices etc. and far more about timing and reading the space of the interaction with the person asking the question or checking in.

    I discovered Gangaji two days ago and I've been binging her videos. Absolutely beautiful presence which has pushed me into more frequent and powerful experiences of my true nature.
    In the silence there is peace. In the clamor there is peace. In the victories there is peace. In the failures there is peace. In the ecstasy there is peace. In the wanting more there is peace.
    In the wanting more there is peace. Which brought me to and highlighted one of my biggest questions: how do I bring my thoughtless nature into the world of concepts and thought? Is it impossible? That didn't seem to make sense as people who have convincingly claimed to realized their true nature do act differently. Is this simply a result of enlightenment and cannot be focused or directed?
    One thing I realized is that simply not resisting the idea of death mentally or resisting the idea of failure mentally and realizing that success in life is ephemeral frees the physical mind. When I choose to do this or that from a place of understanding that whatever I do is ultimately pointless, then it frees me to make decisions that generally align with actions that lead to more of what I want.
    Because I know that it is my mind that is looking for love and that I am truly peace always, I am less likely to binge eat as I would have in the past. Because I know that the body will give out and it will pass away, I'm less likely to avoid chores and practices that wear me out. Instead of allowing social media to distract me my mind is free to say "you can choose to continue to allow yourself to be distracted for the rest of your physical life and you will die not doing the things you really wanted to do OR you can choose to do the more strenuous stuff that may or may not lead to what you want and then you will die. Which do you choose?"
    This could have only happened from gaining the perspective that I am peace always at my core. This could have only happened when I was able to face my own mortality instead of pushing it away.
    Enlightenment on one level has nothing to do with thoughts or any other objects. Presence is unchanging and formless. Phenomena is ephemeral.
    On another level enlightenment frees us to really look at the mind and other objects because we put distance between ourselves and the phenomenal world. This gives us perspective and power.
    We are no longer slaves to the lies that say are our thoughts and bodies at the deepest level.

    Happy to honor your request to hear in comments people talking about “this” (she’d said acknowledge your desire , then use it as a springboard to a deeper desire, and accept/know you want THAT.) This took me quickly/deeply into here & now…and to PEACE! Then she said, laughing, “I’ve never said it that way; thank you, you brought that out.” My gratitude goes to you both together - and to the Unnameable that reveals all!

    You touched on the ''magic'' in the discovery that what you thought to be 'your search', your nearly-despairing longing, is the self-same longing in the heart of one's creation. The sweetness is searing...❤‍🔥

    Wow very cool on the invitation to feel the feelings we avoid. I recently did this with being hurt I never wanted to be hurt again and so never cared to prevent pain.
    I realised my heart was closed but I didn’t know how to open it , I would try to feel love but it wouldn’t work. It was only when I opened my self to be hurt or feel hurt that I connected with my heart.
    I cried with pain at first a pain so old I dont even remember where it came from but then so much more peace and relaxation.
    Of course I will be hurt again but it’s ok you can’t learn to skate without scraping a few knees

    I would love for you to interview Roger Castillo one day. It's probably currently not possible since he's taken a step back from teaching and public appearances for the time being, but hopefully it can happen in the future.
