This, originally, was a very bittersweet album for me. I was afraid it was the end. Various marriages / kids .... I really felt like it was over. 'Home' was wonderful, but it didn't change the feeling I had that it was over....then it was. Then finally White Light arrived and there was so much relief in me. Thank you for the music, lyrics,...everything. Thank you.
Manila is still waiting. Everything I know about Ireland and my appreciation for traditional music came from this band. I even tried learning how to play the violin.
For me, it's the point of maximum evolution in their career; my favorite album so far. I can listen to all previous albums and their different approaches integrated into one, plus the beautiful addition of South African flavors in Borrowed Heaven. It's a very elaborated piece of art.
Always loved this album so many great songs it's hard to skip...you skip because you want to listen to the next then go back to finish the other..it's like a gift you want to tear the wrapper right away to see what's inside... Thats the skip part
This is my favorite album of theirs still. The instrumentals in Forgiven, Not Forgotten were what got me to follow their music. Their songs in Talk On Corners (the one with the remixed Runaway) were what really got me into them. In Blue wasn’t my most favorite, but I’m so glad for them as it’s the one that almost skyrocketed them to global success but truly launched them into global recognition. This album, I was just speechless as to how much they’ve grown with their music-writing. It’s the deepest and most introspective of all, I believe. I also love how it’s in this album they felt the most at home and comfortable in. Home was a nice gift to fans of who truly get their Irish roots. White Light was a wonderful news that they’ve made a new album again after a decade. It has its magical moments, but it also has a lot of awkward and forced moments, in my opinion. I hope Jupiter Calling will surprise me once more like Borrowed Heaven did =).
This is probably my favourite album. I say humdrum is my favourite, then no; hideaway is… but then summer sunshine… but borrowed heaven, and silver strand. Confidence for quiet is great when you need to belt something. My favourite band in the world. I love hearing the backstories to each song 💜
I love every single song on this album, but Silver Strand just hits me really hard, just like all of their instrumental trad songs... Trad celtic/Irish music just speaks to me in an inexplicable deep way.... That's what got me in to them in the first place :) Silver Strand and Lough Erin Shore are my absolute favorite instrumentals.
Just in case you missed it... They did reunite last year. I missed all of their concerts which is so sad, but I hope that they keep on playing and writing music and tour again from now on.
