  • Should You Upgrade to Photoshop CC 2014 vs Photoshop CS6
    • Should You Upgrade to ... Upgrading Photoshop can be a hard call to make. In this video I discuss the difference between Photoshop CC 2014 and Photoshop CS6, who should upgrade and why.
    In truth even if you are hobbyist using Photoshop the new deal has it a $9.99/month and you can afford that whether you make money on Photoshop or not. If you're a Photographer it is worth it to have both the latest version of Photoshop and Lightroom at all times particularly if you are going to upgrade your camera gear.
    If you don't plan on upgrading your Photography equipment and that is the primary thing you use Photoshop for CS6 may still fit your needs.
    If you're business needs are not changing and you are not going to be expanding or doing a higher volume of business and you are satisfied with your currently level of productivity you can stay on Photoshop CS6.
    However in another year or 2 Photoshop CS6 as well as the rest of Creative Suite is going to be very outdated an not able to reach peak performance on new hardware you'll be buying. It's not going to scale and grow with your business Creative Cloud will.

    Photoshop CC is worth it and it makes sense financially. For $50 a month you get access to all the programs you need, cloud storage, and constant updates. So you won't have to worry about paying any more than what you pay now for new version of your software. And if you're like me... who was using all CS4 programs... the upgrade to CC is like night and day. Makes your workflow so much faster and smoother. If you're a serious creative then there's no real reason not to get it.

    How have you made money from MTG? It always been a big money sink for me.
    Also, could I get your opinion on the MacBook Pro 15inch 2014 model(s)? I will be going to university to do graphic design next summer, so I want the best equipment.
    Great video btw, keep up the good work.

      Jamie Semple I actually have a video about the Macbook Pro where we do a hands on review with my friend Job it's here on the channel in the Graphic Design Playlist and the Tech Playlist. As for MTG. I made money by keeping myself down to 2-4 Decks and selling off any cards that didn't fit them. Collecting and selling the cards of everyone who quit or retired. Selling the prize cards and boxes from winning local tournaments. Hosting my own tournaments and receiving cash tips. Building decks for other people. Selling grab bags of my extra cards. Selling MTG cards on ebay. I did the same thing with Yugioh. I think I've been monetizing my hobbies since I was 6 if I'm remembering my childhood correctly. :)

      +Maria Christina No it means you're working with the latest version, which currently is CC 2015. I should do a video explaining Adobe Creative Cloud in General...

    • @RobertoBlake

      It would be easier but you can do it in CS6. I recommend just getting a fresh CC account while keeping your old license rather than do a true upgrade.

    i have a quick question is the creative cloud photoshop like the full version of photoshop that has all the features like cs6 and you just pay each mouth for it or is it just a limited features of the full verision of photoshop like just the basic editing tools.

    • @RobertoBlake
      @RobertoBlake  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      mikem6674 It's complete version, and you can have CS6 but it has even more features beyond it and you just pay every month, and you get new updates for free.

      Roberto Blake Well I dont know I got used to it and since it has a few special features that i could not find in CC and had to actually add it and i fail ...etc i just had problems.. so i ended up using the cs6.

    I do wish to use cc 2014 but i cannot since 1. I live in Sweden (which mean I've to get Visa/master card) and it can go as 'credit card'. I do wish want it so bad :( if adobe could think to let us use paypal without credit cards i would be happy to use it. 2. i tried the try out, it crashed all the time even if i have right performance, right graphic card and such :( so *sob*

    I can't use my command button in cs6, this is unacceptable, I should be able to upgrade for free, the program is useless without using command. Such crap.

  • @itsDuckHunter
    @itsDuckHunter 8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    its not really an upgrade

    • @RobertoBlake
      @RobertoBlake  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      DuckHunter It is but there is no point arguing with people who don't want to see it.

    • @itsDuckHunter
      @itsDuckHunter 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      No I mean like, I've used CS6 for a couple of months and then I got the CC version. A year after I got the 2014 upgrade and now the 2015 upgrade, but I feel like the CC version is more advanced.

    • @RobertoBlake
      @RobertoBlake  8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      DuckHunter That is the "feeling" you have but that doesn't necessarily mean anything. The facts are: from CS6 to CC we got auto save and auto recover, which is huge. The performance enhancements to 3D modeling, 3D type an animation are tremendous. The ability to use Artboards in 2015 means that you don't have to hunt through dozens of Photoshop files on a branding campaign. The productivity for practitioners is insane. The time savings can take an 8 hour workflow down to 2 hours for someone who knows what they are doing. So you'll forgive me if when you say "it feels like it's not an upgrade", I shrug or roll my eyes. I'm not trying to be mean about it or anything, but the fact is that for some people, it won't "feel" like an upgrade because they probably are not using even 30% of what the program can do. And that's fine, but that doesn't mean that the new features are not worthwhile for the people taking advantage of them or making their living using them.

    • @itsDuckHunter
      @itsDuckHunter 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You're obviously far more experienced in photoshop that I am. I am a bit of after effects guy, vfx and motion graphics mostly. I've been around for a year, but I know the basics of every program in the creative cloud. To be honest with you, my workflow is focused on best quality not speed, therefore its weird but well suited to my skills. I personally think it was a bit better when i migrated from cs6 to cc. Now I am getting into some advanced stuff, and I am starting to push the program, I haven't mastered it yet, but I am close.

    • @RobertoBlake
      @RobertoBlake  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      DuckHunter
      The more you push the more you will see out of it. I get what you're saying about quality, but I've found at least in my experience that it's not an either or thing. Once you get good/great you have to get fast because that is what customers/clients need you to, and what you have to do as well because time is money and cash is oxygen.
      So the speed is going to matter once you start feeling the itch of leaving money on the table.
