      I think its because a lot of people got to buy a perpetual license for it with student discounts and such before Adobe went full evil. I mean i have it installed on a old win 7 laptop that i do not update or use for anything other than ps because i lost the code.

      you say it like ps 2021 is not professional and stable, It's actually way more dependable and even new features do what they're supposed to do, also you always have the access to the older methods too, so there is no problem at all. I understand that CS6 is still pretty impressive and you can do almost everything with it, but practically it certainly holds no advantage compared to ps 2021

    • @II-nb6ko
      @II-nb6ko 3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      you can turn it around and also say that if CS6 has the features one uses every day, there is no advantage to getting 2021. Upgrading just slows down your workflow and takes longer to load. Not to mention, it starts a vicious cycle of recurring costs which CS6 does not have.

      @farreach84 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JoelPlay not necessarily. Older versions can get the jobs done just as much as the newer versions. It's more about working in a reliable environment when you're running a business, and they're sticking with their tried and true version. Also, it's about squeezing out margins whenever possible so, kudos for them for taking out two birds with one stone. I run a studio and have purchased M1 with all that M1 performance hype. Performance is great, no doubt about that. But Adobe has miles ahead of them for PS and LR to work as smooth as my late 2013 15" MBPr running PS v22.3.0(which is PS2020). Just to give you the latest headache I'm dealing with, with 22.5 release PS introduced a serious problem with any selection tool giving about 1-3sec lag before completing the selection and showing that marching ant animation, which is critical in daily tasks involving skin retouching with patch tool and lasso tool.

    • @farreach84
      @farreach84 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JoelPlay did my reverting to older version from 22.5 made my life easier? yes. but did going back to older version made all my problems I have with PS at the moment go away? definitely not. I'm just boiling inside, nowhere to find solution, and leaning to live with or to work my way around until Adobe pays attention to my specific problems. The reason I stopped updating PS on my old MBPr was just that, there was a bug with "radial filter" when editing a layer in ACR filter that was never addressed in any of the release notes. It was about two versions before 22.3.0 (counting minor versions as well) that I noticed "radial filter" issue. I would install new version and go back to the version without issue for couple times and 22.3.0 was the version I settled with and said no more updates.

    I just spent 2 hours last week, uninstalling and removing creative cloud bloatware that infecrted every corner of my PC, PS along with Premiere.... after all normal uninstalls, and deep uninstalls with pro uninstaller, I still had to use CC cleaner/removal tool. And even after that there were still uninstalls to be made, startup apps to remove and tones of files in countless of subfolders on system disk leftover. I will NEVER install their bloatware crap on my PC again so done with Adobe and their stupid subscirptions. back to CS6 or nothing :) as far as features go not really missing anything from newer versions for my work and needs.

  • @animatewithdermot
    @animatewithdermot 3 ปีที่แล้ว +66

    Hard NO for me. I've dumped the entire CC (I can't justify the cost given the increasingly buggy behaviour). 2020 PS update killed all of my PS CC versions, all would crash on opening files. Bug still unsolved after 1 year. Then, my Win 7 machine stopped working because of some new 'update'. So I finally found an old version of CS6 and am perfectly happy. Have all the things I need to draw (animation timeline; rotate canvas; smart filters). I really liked CC when it started, but in 2020 for some reason it fell off a cliff. Bugs, slower apps, and finally, no apps at all, either on my win10 machine or my win7 machine.
    Never going back to CC hopefully. I'll keep the $700 a year thanks.

    Yeah the thing with subscription is that it's becoming too expensive with time, big companies can afford to pay that most of the times but most of single users don't have the budget for that, I'm a good example for that situation actually, I work for a record label and I do way more than graphic design, I also do videography, studio engineering/recording/editing/mixing/mastering, etc. so in the end, all the softwares and hardware I need becomes so expensive to a point where it can be ridiculous, I still think that it should be like it was, you get the versions you payed for than if you want more, you pay for updates or more recent versions, it's getting pretty annoying today that it's becoming subscriptions everywhere...
    It is pretty much paying for something that you don't own, if it continues this way, soon we're gonna have to subscribe for hardware too! Imagine buying a "subscription" to own something like a hard drive and then when you stop paying they take it back from you, I wouldn't be surprised if that happens in the future loll

      I still keep my CS5.1 PS, the main reason to move from that to CS6 or later would be the rotate canvas / zoom bug. If you rotate the canvas in 5 and zoom in, the zoom will 'pop' - it can be very disorienting. Also no smart filters. But if you don't need those, no need to move.

    • @mhk9361
      @mhk9361 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@mhk9361 I stand corrected! Which leaves only the rotate canvas glitch as a show-stopper for me. When Adobe announced it was going out of business (business of selling licences), I upgreaded to CS6, and fror me the package to upgrade to the Premium full suite was cheaper than buying 2 separate upgrades because of my mix of software (inDesign + graphics). For me to more to subscription based model would cost way too much.
    So I am stuck on the Mac with Old version of OS-X that still supports 32 bits in order to continue to run CS6.
    Yeah, some of the new featurees are nice, but big picture, once can usually get around without them. The "history" panel lets you undo actions so the "reset smart object" isn't truly a new feature. (though does have advantages).
    If Adobe offered choice of subscription and perpetual, I woudl still be a customer spending money with them perhaps every 2 years. But as long as they are subscription, it's a no go unless I win the lottery. In they end they get $0 from me.

      I agree 100% as well. As an ex-Silicon Valley computer person, it really pisses me off when the software companies continue to screw with the user interface. I shouldn't have to call tech support to be able to find out how to do something in their product on any update. I quit taking updates on my Apple products and have hacked into Windows to shutdown Microsoft's updates as well. There was a golden rule when I was in Silicon Valley, NEVER change the user interface. For people avoiding CS6 due to 4k making the interface tiny, theres a simple solution. In windows go to your CS6 desktop shortcut properties and under compatibility click the Change high DPI settings button. Turn on the High DPI scaling override and set it to system. That should scale the interface to whatever you have windows scaling set to on your 4k monitor (for me thats 150% in desktop display settings).

      @stp_79 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I did that but only 100% and 200% scaling makes CS6 apps UI look sharp. When I tried 125%, 150%, 175% scaling it looks blurry

  • @kevinxflynn1160
    @kevinxflynn1160 3 ปีที่แล้ว +13

    It is ridiculous that Adobe still has problems with interface scaling. Especially frustrated in Camera RAW filter in Photoshop or Bridge when scaling is only 100 or 200% without any in the middle. It cause that it is too small on 100% on 4K screen and way too big on 200%. And in 2021 with full range of high resolution screens still other Adobe Apps also have problems with consistent interface scaling! And my absolute favourite in Photoshop - small filters preview window not scaled since screens had 800x600 px size so now it is big as post stamp which means that you just cannot see any changes in preview.

    People say subscription is bad but paying only for CS6 used to cost $700 ($1000 for the Extended version) and then an year or two later you had to pay again if you wanted the latest version. With subscription you pay $120 for 1 year, meaning you are going to use your PS for 7 years before it costs as much as CS6 (or 10 years if you got Extended). And in these 7 years you will get all the new updates and features. Also, you can do a monthly sub and cancel it at any time if you decide you don't want to use PS anymore. If I paid $700 for PS and in 1 year decided I wanted to move to Affinity instead... yeah, that ain't happening. I shelled out two times my monthly salary and I ain't switching.

    I would no sooner rent software as I would rent somebody else's pants. Plus, I trust the Cloud as much as I trust my brother-in-law. Photoshop has played a major role in my life. It is one of the most amazing programs out there available to the general public. But Adobe told us CS6 was the greatest thing since sliced bread-I still believe it. It produced great images back it the Stone Age when it was released. Is there any reason it still doesn't have that capability?
    Also, the competition is swiftly catching up, at a fraction of the cost. Just look at the stuff being done by the folks at Affinity. I became an Adobe ACE in Photoshop and I still use CS6 quite a bit in addition to competitors' tools. I love Adobe/Photoshop but they lost me with the subscription model. I don't think either partner has lost any sleep over it, though.

    The "must be connected to the internet" part solidified that the CC versions were not for me. I liked to work on a laptop with no internet access in a remote cabin in the woods on weekends so nobody would bother me. Later when my job tried to entice me to upgrade all my personal machines I immediately declined. (I have used all the CC versions but I just never installed them on my own equipment.) Then of course when I was "furlowed" due to covid the company immediately killed my CC account anyway so I'll stick with my CS6 versions for the foreseeable future.

    I have both versions running in parallel. CS6 is mine and CC is the company's version so I can keep working at home if I ever need to. But if I'm honest, most of the time I need CS6 because logging in for CC already annoys me. But I am rather oldschool and often work destructively. Curves with ctrl+m for example, because then I'm just faster.

    Hey Unmesh, Why can't we fully edit RAW in Photoshop, such as frequency separation? I hate having to do some things in Lightroom, export and then do the rest in Photoshop. It's stupid. We should be able to do all edits in Photoshop as a RAW file and then finalize as a Jpeg or whatever.

    Stupid Adobe bans older Pcs from using updated Photoshop since 2021. So there's really no point in upgrading for most people and most of all there is one serious reason not to pay for Photoshop at all. But why vloggers would care for common Photoshop users, right?

    I've just upgraded to 2021 from CS6 and if wasn't for my job paying for the apps i would've booted it to the curb and reverted back to CS6 extended. Adobe has gone to the dogs with its latest iteration of bloatware. The tracing tool in Illustrator and the Content Aware tools are the ONLY real breakthroughs Adobe have come out with in the last decade, everything else is overly dressed bells and whistles. This whole suite used to be tailored for working professionals now its targeted towards one click millennials. Everything actually TAKES LONGER to access, what in the hell were Adobe thinking hiding all the USEFUL tools under a extra menu flyout?? Illustrator is hot garbage having to search everywhere for what used to be bread and butter tools and menu sets. Is there a way to revert the entire workspace from Casual Insta BABY mode back to "Efficient Productivity" mode??
    Worst of all, Tracing and Content Aware haven't even improved much at all from CS6, Adobe have owned Macro Freehand for well over a decade now and still couldnt implement any of the groundbreaking drawing tools and functions from that 'ancient" program into Illustrator yet?
