- In this week's episode, Steve & Rick discuss Divisions and how it differs between the two sports (USPSA & IDPA). A lot of shooters confused the term Class with Divisions and use it interchangeably. They'll go into each Division in detail covering divisions such as Open, Limited, Limited-10, Production, Revolver (for USPSA) and ESP, SSP, CDP, ESR, SSR (for IDPA).

Volume normalization, guys.
It is allowed, but because all calibers in Production score minor regardless of actual power factor it tends to be at a disadvantage.
Thanks for watching!

In SSP and ESP divisions, you are allowed up to ten rounds in each magazine, and you must start with a round in the chamber, so if your mags hold ten each, you will have eleven total rounds in the gun (10+1 in the chamber), and two, 10-round reloads. You may be able to find a club that does not require concealment garments, but generally you will find IDPA almost always includes the concealed, Hawaiian shirt thing. Open carry/run and gun is USPSA.

Di - All rounds are scored minor in Production division, so .45 ACP is needlessly powerful (and expensive). Use of .45 in Production is certainly legal, but a Production-legal gun so chambered is more suitable for Limited 10, where you get the advantage of Major scoring, and you can make more competition-specific mods to the gun.

Nice ear pro in the intro
So, nine years later, what guns are people shooting? Rick
Powerfactorguy Shooting my first ‘5x5’ & ‘72td Standard qualifier 2’ tomorrow with my 19x and 30s. I’m just getting started, so I’m using the pistols from my arsenal that I shoot the best.
I got my eyes on a Kimber 1911 or CZ shadow because I want something with a metal frame.
What’s your favorite IDPA pistol?
That 11 vs 10 rounds does that count as 10+1 in the chamber??
Also I want to shoot IDPA but don't want to do the whole concealed hawian shirt thing just open carry run and gun style.. Is that IDPA possible?
What’s the difference between “standard” and “limited” division?
I didn't notice any mention of .45auto in the production division. Is it allowed? If so, is it considered a major power factor?
Right around the 8:09 mark, they mentioned that everything is scored as a minor power in the production division. That's why most people are using 9 mm or something with minimal recoil since there is no advantage to shooting the 45 at that point. You can still use a 45 in production.
