Thanks for watching!
This is one of those products you want your friend to buy so you can come over and play it.
Souchirouu you don't actually have any friends Do ya
I think Shawn Wants to be your friend Souchirouu.
I actually think if Shawn and me would meet each other irl without knowing it we'd be pretty good friends. He looks like the kind of guy that what ever differences we have could be solved by having a few beers :)
I wouldn't wish my friends to buy shitty AR.
Could you explain that term: ”friend”
That light saber looks like futuristic lipstick or a Flintstones push pop.
somewhere there is gonna be a kid running out of his moms room into a party swinging a rubber lightsaber
all the arm chair engineers, marketers, innovators and sales people.... this is about advancing the market, introducing more people to AR, progressing the entire AR market as a whole. If you assume that Disney and Lenovo are looking to make money on this product, you are mistaken. This isnt replacing anything, this isnt taking over the VR world, this is about introducing new technology, seeing the market react, gathering feedback and improving upon the base laid down by other products. You can't afford it? ah well, there is always next time. You can afford it and want to be part of new technology and have some fun, perfect!
they need to add something to where if you and your friend both have one then you can battle each other in lightsaber combat! I feel like that would make it more popular.
Great idea, but I think syncing would be a problem due to the range of it. As well as 400 USD for 2, perhaps 200 for 2 would be better, yet that’s sadly not the case. Anyhow great idea!
Dont worry Norm and Jerry Fallout 4 VR will give everyone what we wanted in a VR game and hopefully it will set a standard for VR.
Yeah but the big question is: How hackable is it?
The toy has potentional when taken out of it's original purpose...
- Eddy
How is it better than motion sensors/AR goggles you can get elsewhere?
Looks terrible. AR has a very long way to go. Better go buy a VR headset instead.
There's better AR out there than this, but for more professional use.
That's like saying VR has a long way to go after trying out a plastic cardboard holder for your phone
Eric Provencher what I ment was it will be a long time before AR will be ready for ordinary customers while VR is already there. I believed VR will always be the entertainment king while AR will be more for the work place. Personally I have no interests at all for AR but fir VR I’m 100% onboard
Got it $29 clearance at Target :) it's worth it at $30 bucks. Feel bad for people who spent $200 on this.
I was able to pick this up brand-new/sealed on eBay for $35. I mostly got it for the lightsaber for a Halloween costume and have some cool modding ideas for the headset. It's not going to beat my Index, but it will be fun to toy around with!
VR and AR will become the new master race
With a full powered well tracked AR system that battling game with the "intuition" style saber placement could be really cool.
I think you guys should test all of the AR, VR, and MR devices that use smartphones, and accessories, and pick the best. I have an iPhone 6 Plus, and I’m thinking kooky of getting s headset.
Best phone based VR headset is the Gear VR for Samsung products. If I was you, I would watch and see what happens on black friday or cyber monday. I would skip the phone vr and get an Oculus Rift or Vive on sale. I have a Vive myself, and a Gear VR, and there is no comparing the two, It's incredible!
You guys should take a field trip to Walt Disney World/Disneyland when Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire opens
Taking this idea but instead using the smartphone camera, a mirror to make the camera look forward instead of up and ARCore or ARKit to track the floor might be a similar or even better solution for a lower price. This would help the technology and make it more accessible.
can this be used with other apps to view 3d models? Can google cardboard app work inside the headset? (would tracking work using the star wars beacons??)
That's not worth $200..maybe $50 to $75 that's it..but there's a lot that they can up grade on the design that you don't have to put yr phone in anymore but have a small helmet that can fit a PSP type technology and then it would be worth$200
Do you know of a way to get the App and use it now that it seems to have been removed from the Google Playstore?
This is kinda sad.. There was an old vr arcade game that was better than this . mazan flash of the blade.. And it was like 15 years ago lol
Yea and you had to go all the way to an arcade to play it and it was a massive machine, as opposed to this where you can relax in your home without obnoxious sweaty people all around you, all in a single wireless headset and controller, with a tiny little ball plugged into the wall, pretty sad if you can't see how much more advanced this is, even as kinda crappy as it is.
Uhh no I played this game at the Luxor in las vegas for like a dollar ... Sweaty people??? Idk what arcades you go to but they sound sexy. And BTW you sound just precious
300$ have fun
Tom Shufeldt but the machine then cost thousands. This is crap but you can't compare a $300 turd with a $1k+ professional arcade system.
I wonder if it could run something like ARCore without toooo much lag. I'd love to play around with something like that at this pricepoint, without the tracking puck. Could also use some sort of input that is more practical than a lightsaber.
I hope google is working on that, would love an AR-cardboard.
Speaking of Star Wars experience - I mean, it's always funny to look at people playing action games in VR - but this is just the next level. As much as I like anything new in VR/AR field - this product is such a joke. 200 bucks...
Its 300€ in germany. 300€!!! A bit steep for my liking. I’ll gladly wait for a real MR headset and shelve out 1000€ then.
just get a vive or a rift.
Philip Kindred Dick Has nothing to do with AR/MR. I also have a PSVR and I’m very happy with it thanks.
Crap
You have stereoscopic cameras. You have ARkit/ARCore. You have a motion controller. You have the potential for an amazing headset, but that was wasted.
Mage Enderman I agree as well. There's clearly a tracking issue with the camera being on only one side.
Any point to get this over a GearVR if you have an Galaxy S8 ?
How do you get your screen projected for crowd viewing?
God that things hideous in every way, and $200 no way. They should have developed for up coming AR devices, what a waste of development!
Would be cool to try it, but I think I would be to annoyed with the delay.
Agree with the tracking and alignment issues, and the desire to adjust in game.
Also, it's $99 at Wal-Mart now. I know this video is over a year old.
So you couldnt put the guy with glasses on the other side...his good side!?!
FYI - they didn't fix the buggy AI in "From Other Suns" before it was released.
Will Tested come to hk or china ?
Good honest review. :-)
Dat saber lag. Rufff
is it lag or the display being skewed from filming the reflection at an angle
ARBox review please!
I really like this idea but just like everyone else is saying. The price is just to high for what it can really do. It's basically a mirror, a plastic sword and a light bulb..
They have deleted from the App Store
You should make a video about it so we can raise awareness of the absurd is that it is me for example I paid £300 for it to discover he has been discontinued and take it out of the App Store
It’s quite unbelievable and frustrating how can they do that to everyone who bought it and still buying it. #lenovo #disney #starwars #lucasfilm
yeeah...I'm not paying $200 for that 7:27
Now I get to play, and see what crazy people see.
I'll take 2, for...research.
I know without even playing this, it would make me spew my guts up....
I have it, I’m 14 and I love it. If the saber blade moves to the side or turns it’s literally just a press of a button.
Yes you lamers are right...best gameplay is to sit with my ass on my couch with beer and chips and watch anyone other playing a game...than you have nothing to do only watching ...and Beer drinking and eat a bucket of Chips...
Just Like that is that easy...
that sabre looks more like an "adult" toy, how about something like a power glove for you other hand to launch force attacks by spreading your fingers with palm towards opponent for a force push and mebbe interact with things by pointing
can I use Samsung Note edge to play?
What the hell were they thinking?? This was never worth $200. But now that its under $100 it might be worth it. Especially for the hacking possibilities, since they didn't even bother to go all the way the way with it. Its about as half assed as it gets.
I love this show :)
Seems like the resolution is a huge turnoff. Especially with non ultra-hd phone screens
Absolut crap for the price... save the money and get a real VR Headset... probably the new cheap oculus.
But hey... anything AR or VR keeps the market growing and evolving.
And From other Suns is a pretty cool VR Game, I played the Beta and it was so fun... you have to get used to play games with free movement and not the weird aim and teleport kind of movement. In the Beta I have not encountered the frozen AI... on one ship 4 or 5 enemies came at me at once, time to backup :P
But I hear what you guys saying... with more narrative story stuff and a maybe a lvl and loot system like Destiny it would be amazing.
I just want the lightsaber lol
Just 48.99 now.
Thank you for all the info on this. But I'm certain I'll not be buying the gear.
U Americans are living in the stone age. Linus just did a video on a 8k headset
Shawn Jones they covered it a couple of weeks ago
Dolt
Too much 💰 for a barely functional toy.
If it's Star Wars multiply the price by 3 because you're already going to get a sale from people who buy anything Star Wars and the collectors who buy anything Star Wars and keep in in the box.
Play From other suns beta, and it was fun for the first hour, but the gameplay on the ship is INCREDIBLY shallow. the whole game seems fun at first, but quickly turns dull and boring because the game had NO DEPTH. doubt this is getting changed in full release.
Too bad it doesn't fit the note 8 🙃
Gotta say..... this looks like garbage. Pass.
@@vry1199 to see whether it looked good or not. Same reason anyone else watched when this first came out.
Cool!
htc vive focus
$25-50 at most , I'll wait till clearance.
Anything I have to put my phone in is automatic fail.
this is like when flat screens first came out it took 5 years before the picture quality surpassed gaming CRT monitors the technology still isnt quite there yet .. if debating this or x box oneX or PS4 pro I would nab them in a heart beat 4K gaming versus not quite awesome 3 d with glitches ,, no thank you. this is a toy for those where $500 is a drop in the bucket
It's $200
Yeah, it seems that the VR world is still in demo mode with games that haven't had the money invested to add the depth. Someday.........
Team Ski This is Ar not vr.
To add depth you need a certain amount of users, which VR doesn't have at the moment. Call of Duty would be pretty shallow if they knew only 10 million people had a PC or console to run it. It's gonna take some time.
I'd rather pay $300 for a optical/ laser scientist create me a REAL lightsaber then pay the $200 for this broken toy version
+P0V3RTY09 First off, I agree with you! but I seriously doubt they will make a real lightsaber! That is way too dangerous! and even if they did, I doubt it will be 300! It will probally cost at least 1000 lol! Anyhow, this game has the potential, if they made it so realistic like yugioh or dragon drive from the anime.
I want to be abole to use the headset for other stuff as well rather than just this game like videos maby ummm adult videos idk
Sadly, doesn't fit any phone. Realme x2 pro is too big for it. Lots of phones capable of running it are blocked from doing so. Last one I had was a Wileyfox Swift 2x. More than capable of running the game but not on Lenovo's list so it won't download the software. Side load it and it runs, but then tells you that you haven't paid for it and kicks you out. Free software. You haven't paid for it.
