So chorus being a reference to the Midsummer Festival (or Summer Solstice), then verses are for some reason about looking for love (and, me being somewhat cynical, the tradition is to look during that night for something that does not even exist at that time...) with the refrain being disconnected from either of the other two. Yes, I'm not even sorry for not seeing the connection.
The whole point of the song is that it is combining two genres that associated with summer: the Ligo chant with a club concert dance song. The English lyrics are referring to the man's search for summer, for Ligo. Latvia could win Eurovision with this.
Regarding genres - guess that's on me as I am not a club person at all (as mentioned in the intro video, I'm more of a metalhead). Regarding the English lyrics, that does not make sense to me based on verse 2 (according to genius.com), even if it somehow would make sense in regards to verse 1. (And calling summer "baby"? Really?)
The Līgo part is absolutely fake, but all together it may work for Eurovision. People out there don't know we don't sing chastushkas at Midsummer Night :)
Fair, but the Līgo part is not even the one that I dislike here the most. More so the fact that I do not see the connection between three sides of the lyrics and that the refrain (it being one of the 3 sides) seems completely out of place to me.
There is connection in the text (not sure why don't you see this) and it is awesome! Love this song! ❤ It should go to Eurovision.
