So I'm a Pembroke Welsh Corgi breeder, had my 1st pyometa case a few years ago.. (2019) I thought my girl who had been bred was having morning sickness at about the 4 week mark, but noticed she seemed "way off".. got her to my vet, her temp bottomed out, ultrasound showed closed pyometa. They had to warm her up, get her temp up , start on antibiotics and got her into surgery just in time. I have photos of her removed uterine horns full of nasty green infection. They confirmed there were no viable pups in either horn..My girl had bad reactions to baytril , so we can't use it. She was in the icu for 5 days. It was scary , even my vet was shocked that she made it through. And she too, acts like a puppy again.. I had never before had anything like it. But now I watch all my girls closely.. Thanks for sharing.. and so thankful Kiki is alright..and as heart breaking as it is that she won't have any more babies, she will bring more love to others in her new job.

Glad you caught it! My girl passed last year at 7 from closed pyometra 😪 another symptom is limping, she limped. we went to the vet and he didn't bring this up. One day she was very sick, She passed on our way to emergency surgery .
@mercy suzana Hi, I believe she might have had some discharge too but she kept herself very clean so I didn't notice. The day she got very sick she would not eat, throwing up, very lethargic.
I would love to make my girl Callisto a therapy dog also. Had her spayed after having two litters and she just loves everyone and all animals please share where I could find info on how to do this also. I have a young girl who’s had an odd heat (only 1 so far she”ll be 12 months old next month) she had a very small amount of discharge/bleeding and then stopped but was still swollen and our male was interested in her. Are there any preemptive tests I can have done by my vet ?
P.S. ALL dogs are high value !! and all puppies are high value !! I can remember after giving birth to my son, a wealthy aunt from my husbands side visited us. She told me that her daughter had given birth in Portland Hospital because the baby was conceived by IVF and was SPECIAL !!!!!!!!!!!!, so they did not want to take any risk in a normal maternity unit...you know, the ones most of us who are not millionaires have to use....RUDE !!!!

Question… When you have a breeding program and you have waited A year and a half to two years to complete all of the health testing…then to find out you can’t breed 🙃do you always keep your females? I love the idea that you’re going to make her a service dog working dog … Will you rehome her
My english bulldog had a surgical insemination and 2 weeks after she started bleeding red drops of blood it has been 4 days she has no puss no smell normal temp only eating chicken not dog food. Started her today on antibiotics. Has anyone had this happen? could it be pyo?
A week ago we made Pyometra surgery . My dog wasn’t fixed German Shepard girl, 11 yers old, was bleeding for two weeks. I made research and diagnosed her with pyometra, only bleeding not pus. Start giving her antibiotics with vitamin c and turmeric in capsule . It’s stabilized her condition but the problem wasn’t solved , she was eating chicken not dry or regular food. Also she had a fever and drinking a lots of water , not usual for her. Took her to the vet , they made X-ray and blood test, confirmed pyometra. Doctor prescribed antibiotics and said she need surgery as soon as possible. I waited in hope it’s going to be solved on it own with antibiotic treatment. Saw her doing worst , antibiotics just stopped sepses . Her heart rate was so high and breathing was so heavy . Toxins accumulation. We made a surgery , total cost 3.200 $ . If you don’t want to loose your dog don’t wait go to the vet and make diagnose don’t wait do surgery. She had open pyometra, still need surgery . Without surgery the doggy dye. If you don’t have money you can open credit card and pay monthly or find cheap place for emergency sterilization. But pyometra cost more then regular spaying , uterus so inflamed with a pus. Don’t loose time do action if you love your pet. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ it was very stressful time for me and two people only were responsible for finance , it’s hard and now I see my baby happy again. Hopeful this information help someone. 🐝🐝🐝🐝
My dog is a 5weeks pregnant and yesterday night I started seeing that brown discharge… being in Benin ( west Africa country) we don’t have the best vets (they gave her a shot of dicynone which is an anti hemorrhagic). After so many research I’m thinking it is open our pyometra… I sent plenty videos to the vet, and he told me to give her doxycycline I don’t know what to do and I don’t want to lose my dog… she is still playing and eating Ps: her temperature is 37.5

It might be pyo but more likely is just a little spotting. Watch her temp and if she is eating and happy. Probably ok
